Since this is one of our first PS4 games that isn't a cross-gen title, isn't a launch game, and is part of an established series...

The characters are free of aliasing but you are right there is some the lamp post and other stuff in the foreground.
Thats what post-AA is really good for, the close camera geometry, especially blocky, because lines are better defined and easier to blur.

Second son looks incredible.

I didn't like the first infamous too much. I'm gonna try to get into the second and see if that helps with SS. I really want to like this series, I like action adventure games, but the first didn't hook me at all.

Wow, from that what I can see is that infamous 2 looks really good, I only got the original in the PSN hack fiasco. Most noticeable diff is from lightning and particle effects, it is incredible how much a game can gain by good lightning.

What you aren't seeing though is that the draw distance in both inFamous 1&2 is horrible. With a gray fog limiting your sights incredibly much, which makes the whole city feel desatured, a problem that seems totally gone in SS.

I think you need to get your eyes checked bro. Infamous SS is looking better then your screenshot of sleeping dog. And these are compressed share button shots. Where is the FXAA in that Sleeping Dog shot, DOF is also not impressive. Are you maxing that out on your card? If you are going to harp on Sleeping Dog on PC is better then I would choose some better examples cause those don't look that great to be honest. That is without even mentioning character models.
I was using that screen as an example of deficiencies both games have, not as an example of where Sleeping Dogs improves over Second Son. Visually, SS is not a big enough leap over SD to be impressive. Individual elements may have the technical edge, but the net effect -- how the overall image looks to the eye -- is an incremental improvement. On a more personal note, the setting and subject matter of SS (another American city, with some Pacific Northwest wilderness on the side) is not as interesting to me as the Hong Kong setting and Hard Boiled-inspired triad wars of SD.

These look like bullshots. Not a single jaggie to be found.
If those are real ingame shots this is by far the best Image Quality on NextGen consoles.

Bottom left shot- dithering on the lampposts. It definitely looks like an in game capture to me.

WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY. WHY.

(If anyone knows of somewhere in London breaking street date, be a dear and let us know, will you?).

Looking great - though I have to be honest, I don't think I quiiiite get the fuss being made about ISS' visuals.

Be nice to see daytime to daytime comparisons

:b

It is the fact it is an open world game and looking that good. Looks better then anything I've ever seen.

It is also impressive when you see it in motion. All the particle effects, the insane lighting, the destructible areas, the effects from the special attacks, etc. The neon dash effect is probably the coolest damn thing I've ever seen personally.

And furthermore, this is Sucker Punch lol. Not exactly a large, well budgeted team there. If Sony's first party's are sharing tech, like I know they are, they are going to be WELL ahead of the curve this generation.

It's gonna be a long week...

Those inFamous shots are some of the best looking pics in this thread.
I want more but I don't want to see anymore at the same time. haha

It's quality pics like that which can help sell a game to someone on the fence, Kudos for the high quality shots. Im amazed how vibrant and clean it all looks.

Yep and on the other hand, for games where potential buyers only see compressed Share button pics, they may decide to not buy the game. Still mind boggling Sony doesn't get it...

Infamous is looking really really great. Well done. This is that one game that I will regret not being able to play it.

IQ in Second Son is truly pristine. Looks almost like SSAA. If I didn't know better I'd think they were bullshots. I hope their AA technique will be used in more games!

The only thing I can't stand with Infamous is the HUD, I swear it could come straight out of Last Ninja for the C64 (which was awesome for its time, mind, but that time was 1986). Kind of spoils my appreciation for the visuals.
