Nah. Without Kinect and taking into account the less powerful hardware, I think a $350 would be the right price to hit.

Xbox One should have been $399 to start off due to its weaker hardware; Kinect is a moot point for most people and not really a value-added to a lot of consumers. So it should be significantly less.

I would much prefer MS keep the Kinect bundled with every XOne, absorb the price of the Kinect camera and reduce the price of the XOne accordingly. That way the install base isn't separated by those who have one and those that don't.

You can guarantee that any developer that planned to use the Kinect camera will probably abandon those ideas now.

I can see why they're announcing it now. It's pretty big egg on their face considering they've had the kinect on the forefront of every major XBone demonstration to date. Them getting rid of it is a pretty big sign of conceptual defeat. Better to get it done now, have the new systems without kinect in stores, and focus on games and moving forward for e3. Sweep the misstep under the rug and continue moving on.

That was asked when they had the Kinect on the 360, and I think the excuse was that the voice recognition software is supposedly built into the Kinect itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kinect Sports: Rivals significantly under-performed compared to previous Sports franchise heights. There just doesn't seem to be similar momentum or excitement for that title.
