Graphically looks great, but the gameplay feels weird. Specially I don't know how I feel about the aspect ratio. And guns are even more weird, didn't feel like shooting. And why was it burning and blowing when he was using some kind of a machine gun?

I will wait until more game play, and story sure looks interesting.

Incendiary rounds? The weapons are weird, but in a good way. I hope people aren't expecting this to play like gears of war or something.

A bit late, but this looks absolutely insane, wow. Might be a typical third-person shooter, but since I never got too burned out on them on the PS3 (I pretty much played only the Uncharted games), I couldn't care less.

Don't know, but people are trying really hard to bash this game looking at the replies in this thread. Wish they would upload a proper gameplay video that's not blurry and butchered though.

Given that this is the case, I want a longer campaign with a lot of replayability. With the amount of content in certain games these days, that's just a value proposition expectation of mine.
I'm the opposite. I would rather the game be a bit shorter. It seems like the kind of thing that you would want to play from start to finish in one sitting, but want to go back through and experience it more often than other games similar to watching a film multiple times. I am actually hoping for something at around the four or five hour mark.

Can some one more technically inclined than me comment on how likely they are to get the fps up and keep their current visuals? Is the poor framerate in this video a result of old code or just a reality of the hardware?

It was the stream that stuttered. The footage is captured from the stream.

Yeah, the game is fucking gorgeous and it's coming from a smaller sized team early in the gen who have only made PSP games before. Bodes really well for the future.

Yeah, i was about to post something along those lines.

This gen is shaping up very well.

But will Sony get some balls and try to finance a BIG game?
The game they are releasing are very polished from a gfx stand point but they lack content in my opnion, as if there wasn't enough time, or men (so money), to add some more meat.

Or maybe it's too early to call them out...

Apparently it was just the stream

This is why I was critizing the way they are doing things, creating concern over an issue they say doesn't exist and it now being on the mind of people.

Sony marketing, pls.

Want to point to something that has...whatever content proposition you would like to see in a BIG game?

I also don't get all the negativity surrounding the gameplay from a lot of posts here. I never understood why everything had to be NEW or Original or some how revolutionize the genre. There are very few of those types of games released because they are A) Risky and B) very hard to pull off. Further, some of them fall flat on their face when the new gameplay mechanic is not well executed and then we hear another chorus of negativity about the game being a stupid gimmick.

I am perfectly fine with simple iteration and building on the backs of proven methods. There is nothing wrong with that and if people can just sit back and enjoy it for what it is, you'll probably have a better time with it. If you don't like it, that's fine, but you don't need to carpet bomb a thread to make sure everyone knows your distaste.

Totally agree

I believe that gun fires metal filings which are then ignited by the flare, causing the burning and explosion. This is why he wasn't shooting directly at the enemies, but above them so he could ignite the metal as it dropped on them. it was not a machine gun in the traditional sense

From what the rumors were, Stig's game at Santa Monica Studio was supposed to be a BIG game. Was in development since GOW3 but got canned because it wasn't shaping up to be fun or something like that. Apparently it was too similar to Destiny as well.

That wound still burns.

Sorry, didn't know I had to wait till I posted an opinion.
How about having my login and password and posting for me next time? Would that make you feel better?

Hey if your going to post your opinion you should be prepared to take the heat for it too no?

One sitting sounds like a bleak proposition to justify £40-£50...Blu rays usually only cost me £5-£10, and given most films are 2-3 hours plus extras, I'd Ideally want a game that costs 4-10x that amount to be 4-10x the amount of content. Or like I said, have tonnes of replayability. I know it's a strange thing to compare, but value is value at the end of the day, and hours of entertainment is one way to gauge that.

I agree. All this BS is getting really tiring. I can barely read any PS4 preview game thread, as it quickly gets filled with trolls.

Game looks amazing!!!

Only thing that annoyed me was when you were dragging the injured guy and the other two people who were at the door weren't providing any covering fire, instead you had to take out the people with your pistol, what were they doing at the time?

Also find it odd with all these people commenting about gameplay from a video. Personally I find it impossible to tell how good it is without actually playing it and seeing if they've nailed the controls which makes the interaction fun.

This is why I tend to read multiple reviews to see if the reviewer had fun or try a demo before taking the plunge.

Games can look fun but control like shit, or look boring but feel great to play.

That is fair, and I suppose I would also expect a fair amount of replayability at that length. However, I always think back to ICO and being completely satisfied by it's mere 4-5 hours the first time through. The experience was short enough and well done enough to want to play through it on a fairly regular basis.

Ah ok, did ya'll watch it live? Did it stutter for everyone or just that one dude who recorded it for youtube?

Sure, let's discuss the game then. Wanna talk about that, I'm all for it. That's what the thread is about.

My posting experience, on the other hand, is not the subject. That was completely off topic and possibly a violation of the tos. But what does the junior know about it, right?

Yeah this looks completely amazing. The graphical fidelity in this game is outstanding. Ever so slightly miffed that it won't have multiplayer but considering the last 3rd person game I played was Tomb Raider and I completely ignored that multi, it probably won't be a big deal for me. Just nice to have the option I guess.

Weird thing is, after Driveclub footage, now this, what do Sony have up their sleeve for E3? I mean games for this year

I will never understand why Sony keeps showing off games where the main thing is good graphics using such means. It's just baffling.

Naughty Dog spoke about that in this month's Edge. They're fully aware of how shit Youtube and Twitch are for showing off upcoming games - especially 1080p60 in the case of the Last of Us - but they're still figuring out the best way to reach everybody, a way that's still convenient enough for the casually-interested observer. Mind you, fuck knows what they were thinking using a shitty stream to demo this. Bloody fools.

Anyway, catching up in here and it's a hell of a mess, I'm well excited to see more of this game. And I hope all those people who are bored to Tears of Gears-type games are going to change their mind and love them again soon, otherwise Phil Spencer is going to have to have another one of 'those chats' with Black Tusk.

Yeah, pretty much as I suspected. I hardly ever go into XB1 game threads so never really saw proof. I have issues with this game but tend to give up (or not even attempt) to have a conversation about my concerns because I'm not entirely sure who is being serious and who is just trolling. The Gears comparisons tend to give the game away for a lot of posters though.

The stream honestly kept cutting out for me, had to reload twice.

My posting experience, on the other hand, is not the subject. That was completely off topic and possibly a violation of the tos. But what does the junior know about it, right?

Every time there is a new batch of juniors people always say stuff like that, I think your taking things a little too seriously, the junior thing is used as a joke here or there.

Also, I would assume that you aren't aware of what Sony's first party has done or put out over the last few years so I'm going to pretend that you aren't judging the quality of their studios based on launch/launch window titles (expect for inFamous, which was loads of fun) we don't even know much about because that in itself is asinine, but hey if you want to post stuff like that then it is your prerogative.

Also I'm not really equipped to discuss this game considering I know nothing about it, beyond its setting and genre. What I can say is the setting intrigues me and I enjoy third person shooters.

I'm getting a resistance vibe from this game. The supernatural element, futuristic guns in an older time period, looks to be a war like shooter at least on this level.

I agree. Loved the Resistance games. Except for number two, that was awful but at least the weapons were still great.

That should be easy. Release the best possible quality they can reach on youtube (now there is only terrible compressed twitch footage there because they didn't release direct feed) and for us forum guys put it on gamersyde or their own websites in its full glory.

One thing RAD was always soooo good at is pacing their games. I powered through everyone of their games in as few sittings as I could allow.

Cannot wait for this.

I am so in love with this aspect ratio for PS4. I desperately wish more games would use it or add it as an option.

I can't understand why people constantly expect developers to completely reinvent a certain genre.

Foundations for 3rd person shooters were laid long time ago and few games actually added something new.

I see people constantly saying things like "generic" or "Gears of War" clone. Gears of War added nothing new to the genre outside of active reload and better graphics and yet it's hailed as one of the greatest TPS' of all time. In fact I could call GoW a clone of Killswitch and I would be perfectly correct since GoW copied most mechanics from that game.

I loved almost everything that I've seen in this short gameplay clip. Gameplay looks fun and dynamic, Thermite Gun looks like shit load of fun (and that arc gun looks incredible), graphics are of course insane, characters look well designed (I love deep female voice of Igraine which points out that she has a strong personality as opposed to many other female characters in games), I loved the cinematic scenes in gameplay and surprisingly, the thing I thought would bother me the most - the infamous "black bars" (aspect ratio) - I stopped noticing that a few seconds after the video started.

The only thing I believe needs some more work is AI - it's disappointing to see those two guys, in the scene where Galahad is dragging that officer inside the building, just standing there, waiting to be shot. But, other than that scene, AI seemed perfectly fine in the shootout that preceded that scene.

When it comes to performance I will certainly not judge the framerate and amount of screen tearing, from a shitty stream that looked all kinds of blurry even in the "source" quality. I'd like to see at least some sort of direct feed before making that judgment. Not to mention that this game comes out in Q4 2014. so there is plenty of time to polish things.

So I suggest you stop expecting an evolution or a revolution from every new game in any genre and instead I suggest you start expecting fun and well designed games. Once you develop a more realistic expectations, you'll enjoy gaming much more. The way things are now, I see only a bunch of people shitting on every new game out there. If you find everything in gaming these days so bad, bland and uninspiring, then I suggest you find a different hobby since this one clearly no longer works for you.

Eh...
Something i can play for more than 10 hours without burning all its content.
That has more than a layer of gameplay depth.
That offers a good replayability.

A big western rpg, a loot game, an big shooter game...

Maybe they are coming, maybe not, what i wanted to underline was that early this gen seems to me that they are going for the safe "cheap" route.
So i'm still reserving my judgement, since going all in early could be very dangerous financially, but i'd like to begin to see a game with a bigger scope.

How is this not a game with big scope? Its essentially Uncharted, is what they are aiming to do - do you not consider Uncharted games to be big?

Is that guy on the far left going through the wall?

He's defenestrating himself because of the shame.

Something to do with it being a thermite rifle maybe. Don't know much about thermite though.

It can kill Terminators (but not Victorian store signs)

Don't worry, they will be back on board with the gameplay right around the time the next Gears of War is shown.

I'm curious what TPS people are comparing Gears to in their heads that makes it look so "crap" or "nothing special". Gears pretty much was the most slick and fluid moving and looking TPS made. I'm perhaps oblivious, but who did it better? Those guys slide and sprint in polished, stylish, cinematic fashion.

Gears is a great TPS to be compared to on mechanics and art. Dialogue had it's charms but it aimed for a meathead dynamic and hit that note anyway.

Let me play it and i can tell you if this game has the content i'm looking for or not, for now i see an oustanding gfx, with a consolidated gameplay mechanics.
We don't know what else the game will offer.

The first U as good as it was in my opinion was not a big game, great foundation for a serie, that's for sure.

I was thinking at Infamous and killzone, games i've played and finished, that in my opinion needed more content.

I love the concept of the game. Like the idea of the knights, the elixir, the enemies, the setting etc.

I am however concerned about how much 'game' there is. My personal opinion is that if you are going to do steampunk victorian London, you go whole hog. Explorable hubs, side missions (Jack the Ripper trail), Royal family intrigue, art movement, scientists etc.

Is there any direct feed footage yet? The stuff in the OP is horrible, clearly compressed to all hell and super low bitrate.

Just another Winback clone like MGS:2/Kill.Switch/Gears/Uncharted/Tomb Raider/TLOU/GTAV/Sleeping Dogs/Watch_Dogs/The Division/Hitman/Splinter Cell/Syphon Filter/Army of Two/Kane & Lynch/GRAW/Spec Ops: The Line/etc/etc. Yawn.

Do you realize how stupid this argument is?

Damn.. Looks very nice + the shooting seemed much more interesting now than in the earlier released footage.

Kind of bummed out that I don't have the luxury of buying 2 consoles. Playstation 4 fans have something great to look forward too ^^

It just beggars belief. It's not as if it's SLIGHTLY hidden. It's there, in open view. It's almost as if people are seeing what they want to see in order to find anything to bring this game down. Thank Christ there isn't a jaggy power line anywhere.
