Halo 4 MP better than Halo 3? How? I mean the maps (except Haven) sucked.

Halo 3 had maybe 3 good maps. Halo 4 had better map design. I mean it is my opinion but the main point I was trying to make is Halo 2 Maps are king. 21 great maps compared to 3 good maps in Halo3.

Anyone think the title is kinda clumsy? I think once you go past 4 for numbered titles it doesn't look right. Something really 'fat' about the number five. Think Halo Guardians or Halo: Guardians would be better.
Personally, I'd prefer the game to be called Halo 5. Just that, without any subtitle or anything.

I don't what you guys are upset about, Halo 4 is easily the worst CoD.

The fact that 343 tried to follow the CoD idea on some things makes this laughable true sadly. Weapon drops is such a terrible idea for Halo. It is one of the simple things that breaks the fun of Halo. Map control is gone with it.

The hangar section in the first playable level, the one where groups of elites just keep coming - that was extremely difficult. The rest was not so bad. Well, that fight on the stairs was also a bitch.

But I finished the PC version, with a mouse and a keyboard. Maybe it was harder on Xbox.

Gears, though, I couldn't even kill Raam on hardcore. I mean, I probably would have, had I kept on going, but after a few days of trying, I just decided I had better use for my time, so I dropped the difficulty to casual and beat him on the first go.

I did manage to kill him on hardcore in the PC version, however, also playing with the 360 controller.

Oh, and as far as campaigns go, Halo = Halo 3 > Halo 4 > Halo Reach > Halo 2 > ODST

Halo Wars and Spartan Assault are still waiting to be played.

The beginning of H2 on Legendary, in I believe it was the second Hangar is probably one of the hardest battles of the game.

But it's nothing compared to that mission where you first fight brutes (the one after gravemind sends Arby on a mission and now it's Chief's turn). You start right out in the open with two brutes with needlers. No cover except sort of whatever that camera thing is. I don't know how I ever survived that. And then you gotta go up and hide in the stands to avoid the carbine snipers (who can kill you in pretty much a single second) and a few brute shots, for like three waves, and you better pray none of them spawn on yourside with a carbine, which will happen.

You are seriously only getting out of that level alive by sheer luck.

Oh, and the checkpoints are very infrequent as well.

Last year I done all the three main Halo games on legendary difficulty solo and Halo: CE is by far much harder than the other two. Some of the check points took me a hour and a half/two hours to do.

Yeah, despite Halo 2 just being overall harder, at least the ultra linearity means you can hide behind cover and not worry about looking any direction but forward most of the time. In CE, you can be flanked, and the game is already difficult at times on Normal.

No way am I going to attempt the library on Legendary solo. Co-op? It's sooo guuuud. But alone? Oh haaeyyyll no.

Library Legendary is easy as fuck if you abuse corners and shotguns. It's rote, mundane, repetitive, and frustrating, but very doable.

Gotcha. However, I think I could similarly say that Halo fans are only divisive about Reach and Halo 4. Pretty much everyone agrees that the rest are good. In fact, I'd hesitate to even call Halo 4 divisive because everyone seems to agree these days that it's pretty terrible.

Not saying Halo isn't divisive, but any franchise that is as popular and Halo and goes on for as long as Halo is bound to spawn lots internet debates.

ODST as well, some people say best of the series others act like its pure garbage.

My main issue is the very start. I mean seriously, there's practically nowhere to hide, and on normal difficulty flood can kill you in a matter of seconds with a plasma rifle. For a second I thought I was playing on Heroic.

You're weak. Every Halo fan should finish every game on Legendary at least once.

Halo 2's reception was extremely divisive.

This sounded off to me, so I fired up my oXbox and tried it, Library on normal difficulty.

I lured a plasma rifle Flood onto one of those diagonal knee sections (to encourage the flood to shoot rather than charge and melee), and positioned the Chief against the base of the corresponding knee section, like this:

Even at this fairly close range, with me not moving it took the flood over 1 minute to kill me with his plasma rifle shots.

The only issue I have is when Spark closes both doors sticking you in a smallish room and you have to survive wave after wave of Flood.
Apart from that it's pretty standard nade and clear type level.

That is absolutely bizarre. I might have to play it again. I swear they were killing me in a matter of seconds. The rest of the level was pretty much just fine though.

Oh, I will at some point. I generally don't enjoy legendary playthroughs all that much in solo. I like intensity, but there's a point where it becomes frustrating.

But yeah, I plan on finishing every Halo solo legendary.

I'd love to put H2A on pre-order but does Amazon even do that immediately after E3 announcements?

Was Spartan Ops a disaster or something?
seems kinda weird that they aren't trying to milk out some more seasons.

Spartan Ops had some great missions, and the story was interesting, but most of it was either extremely repetitive and unremarkable or just plain terrible. It was a really inconsistent campaign, clearly made with co-op in mind. I wouldn't have a problem with the latter had they not allowed people to play through it solo. I did, and it made me want to pull my hair out at times. Some levels were huge (people complaining about Halo 4's alleged smaller scale clearly haven't finished Spartan Ops - not that anyone could blame them), and the checkpoint placing was atrocious so you were forced to trek across half of the map to get back into action.

I liked the idea of Spartan Ops, but if they ever bring it back, I hope they seriously rethink the concept.

I think you're mistaking Spartan Ops for Spartan Assault. Also, bad joke.

Sorry if going off topic but is Spartan Assault any good?
I never played it on phone or tablet so am kind of looking forward to playing it on Xbox One (for free, soon).

I think it looks kinda cool in the videos ive seen of it - does it have online co-op?

So, how about that Halo Wars. It isn't like I've been waiting to see some Wars love in the mainline series ever since... Halo Wars released.

I got a hunch getting to roll in a Grizzly or Hawk would add to the game immensely, trust me Stinkles.

Fuck me, equipment was fun.

Death from above with grav-lifts, shotgun camping in bubble shields, power draining banshees on Valhalla, flare spare in customs... Equipment was great!

I always hated equipment, it was just a way to cheat death in a game where kill times are long (which I like), but people would lose a BR battle then pop a regen or bubble shield. No need for equipment or armor abilities, game needs to get back to the Halo 2 root, which will probably never happen.

I'm playing it now.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: a sequel with more factions and bigger and better MP would be amazing.
The SoF was recently mentioned in the escalations comics and I believe Forges cyclops unit was in the Halo 4 map adrift (although it was newer model).

Ok, am I the only one that thinks that in terms of difficulty Halo4 and Halo CE are the hardests? I completed every game in legendary less Halo4 (I just couldn't, that thing is impossible) and Halo CE was much harder than Halo2/3/Reach/ODST. Crap, I spent like 1 hour just to pass the first room where you get the pistol. That thing is hard as crap.

And I completed Gears of War in Hardcore, spent 3 hours on that final boss.

You can beat that section very easily. Just hide in a corner and wait for Guilty Spark to open the door. No combat required.

The hardest part of the level is the beginning, as you don't have good weapons yet (shotgun and pistol, basically) and there's a lot of enemies. Once you clear that first section, the level is not too difficult.

At their rate of fire, even if they landed every shot (lol), "a matter of seconds" might be an overestimation of their abilities.

Though, you really shouldn't be taking many shots from those guys. The reason I was able to isolate a Flood and test the kill speed was that I dodged him while killing the other Flood so that I was able to start counting with full health and shields.

You might think that The Library is about reading books, but it's actually a dance. A very gurgly dance. If you can shoot and dance at the same time, you win.

Halo 1's campaign has fairly relaxed damage tables in general, and it offers plenty of opportunity to dodge some attacks. The impact is that gunplay is often able to be very fluid and maneuvering.

You can beat that section very easily. Just hide in a corner and wait for Guilty Spark to open the door. No combat required.
Why sit in a corner when you could be battling a gigantic horde of flood?

Just recommending an easy way to beat that section. Fighting is more fun of course.

I don't know, Halo CE is the easiest for me, but then again, it's the one I've played the most. Halo 2 is the hardest, no doubt. The other Halos I'm not so sure... but I'll make a ranking anyway.

In terms of difficulty:

Halo 2 > Reach > Halo 4 > ODST > Halo 3 > Halo CE

Yep, there's definetly a pattern. Halo CE and Halo 3 are the ones I've played the most. So I guess the familiarity plays a big role here.
