Robin looks really cool and I know Lucina was pretty heavily requested around here so that's good to see, but my favorite part of the trailer was how badass they made Captain Falcon :')

Nintendo has made a general effort over the past few years to include more females in their games. They pissed me off with their lack of inclusion (aka. Brawl having no new female characters at all) so to see Nintendo finally starting to be more inclusive is something we should all celebrate.

Marth is one of the most popular characters in Smash.
Of the FE games I've played I'd recommend 7 (Just called Fire Emblem in NA and EU) and Path of Radiance. I'd say skip Awakening but that has more to do with the character designs than the gameplay, which while not as good as those other two, is still fun.
Robin's definitely a mage. He has a sword so he's not completely vulnerable from up close, but it's a lot shorter than the standard fire emblem sword. He'll probably be focused on long range attacking.
Eh, if there's any non-Nintendo character he slightly resembles, it's Chrollo from Hunter X Hunter.
I think Shulk can still get in. If only because a Xenoblade stage would be amazing visually and the music would be out of this world. That alone should get him or perhaps someone else form Xenoblade a slot. Those should be important factors I think for deciding if a character should be added since those are likely to get more use then the characters themselves.

Ahh, no not yet...don't see him getting the axe, though. Actually, we didn't know for sure he was in Brawl until someone played SSE up to where you unlock him, if I remember correctly.
