Al Jazeera now reading out notices by US and UK aviation instructions to not fly over this region due to the potential of misidentification. So Malaysian Airlines might have fucked up here in addition.

It's really heartbreaking to see those pictures. Most of those people were likely alive until they hit the ground. Imagine the terror they must have had while falling.

I'm not just pointing at this single event between countries. I'm pointing at the tension and chaos countries has created in the last couple of years. I'm just getting an eerie feeling, I might have been dramatic with the WWIII thing but something is escalating big time between some of those countries i'm talking about.

I guess we have some Dutch posters here.

Perhaps on a more cynical note, though, the strength of of more immediate political fallout from this might be dependent on the number of European passengers on board. (i.e. if there were a lot of EU folks on board, there would be probably more home pressure on the EU to do more about the Ukrainian situation).

Seems like at times like this, people just need to vent their anger/frustration/shock/bewilderment In different ways. Claiming this will lead to WW3 is nonsensical in my opinion, but oh well. People on here get very dramatic when faced with difficult news, I find it curious from a usually resilient group.

I'm fascinated by the different reactions to such a tragic event like this.

There's a lot more available than that and you know it... Evidence of the remains, tweets claiming responsibility, etc. Not as if there isn't enough to get a pretty good picture at this point.

Stupid question I guess, I know there is the blackbox for recordings, is it possible in this day and age to have that live streamed and recorded off-site(not on plane)? This way you never have to recover it on site and have more situational picture of what happened/is happening /
This news makes me sick in my stomach. :(

Because

A) People are dead and citizens of those countries are going to be very pissed.

B) The more Western countries who have dead, the more shit it's going to cause in the situation. If all of Western Europe has a few dead citizens from an airliner via Russian backed rebels it's going to cause a huge political shitstorm.

Speculators say they made an "mistake" because they were supposed to shoot down a jet from either Ukraine or Russia.

This is so incredibly fucked up. I can't imagine anyone will find any justice for this, this world is just so beyond fucked. It's got to make you wonder about that other missing plane a bit ago.

Both Ukraine and Russia say Ukraine did not target or shoot any flying objects. So if it was a shoot down, chances are slim it was Ukraine at this point. Again, information is foggy and incomplete.

These notices come out now or before the plane was downed?

Debris spread over a very large area. Local villagers taking whatever they can find to sell it as scrap metal. This is going to be a difficult investigation indeed.

It's already painfully obvious it was pro-Russian forces that shot it down.

There's a post on their own page which claims responsibility. They thought it was a military plane.
