You can already see some minor differences in terms of the story, and it's moving along faster than the old show. Less comedy and maybe a bit more serious in tone, it's still good.

i wonder how dark it will get in relation to the original. Quite interested in the season endgame.

some of their songs are similar, sure. but they do all kind of things, unfortunately those that end up in popular anime tend to be those samey ones.

they sound beautiful to me anyway, no need to fix it :b
still unfair to compare kajiura to sawano's lazy garbage.

I love her compositions but they do all sound similar. But she has honed the formula to a beautiful perfection.

We're talking the doco episode right? I still know pretty much nothing about Idolm@ster and I still think it was a great approach. I'd love a whole series like that. (I hear there's a War Correspondent kind of one out there somewhere? I forgot the name)
The novelty wasn't enough to carry it for me. ~24 minutes just isn't enough time to properly introduce so many characters particularly with the kind of tone it had.

Edit: Actually, I don't think the pacing was even that economical at times. The hamster incident didn't exactly accomplish much and then there was the audition scene. I can tell that the fang girl is going to drive me up the wall.

There's an episode in S2 that explains the real reason why.

Care to just tell me? Maybe in spoilers.

Now I've skipped through most of the show after I got like 3-4 episodes in and am may have missed 'the real reason why'. I mean they get together in some of the ending or so, right? So I dunno. But whatever her actual reason was she must have been lying to herself then early on. Because she seemed to be genuinely interested in those eroge purely because of those cute girls and didn't even really catch the drift when Mr. BlandFace was trying to ask her if she's attracted to that kind of stuff (since she's buying it after all).

We have a title and key visual for KinMosa season 2.

This one is titled Hello!! Kiniro Mosaic. No airdate has been given yet. Can't wait. I love that we get new anime based on these kinds of shows almost every season - even if it's only one show - and it's even better that both this and Non Non Biyori got sequels.

Excellent

In a perfect world , we would be alternating between "Kinmosa" and "gochusa" so that the cute factor will remain consistent every season

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I hated, hated, hated her. She already goes beyond tsundere and into abusive Mary Sue. Let's see. She is smart (top marks at school), has a modelling job, is beautiful, sporty (I am unsure, but part of her going to america was for sports, right?), had a close circle of prestige friends who cared deeply for her (and with whom she talks a lot per phone without doing anything else at the time) and somehow managed to be and insane Otaku, having time to play tons of games, go to Akiba, write fanfictions and have an online circle of friends. This girl has about 72 hours a day.

And then we have her constanly being a jerk to buttmonkey and it's never warranted at all. He rips his ass off to help his sister out and she tsuns the hell out of him, waking him in middle of the night, forcing him to watch otaku stuff, even if he isn't interested, etc. But because buttmonkey is an idiot he just keeps doing as she pleases. She has so a bad personality, I wished sometimes she were real so I could punch her in the face.
Yep i don't like her too , that's just too much for her character and that's why Kuroneko ( ruri ) is MUCH MUCH superior.
I feel like I'm in a minority when it comes to liking the direction of episode one of iM@S.

<Episode 1> was a necessity you need an overall quick look of everyone so that you can start devellopping them afterwards. In that sense , i think EP1 did his job perfectly.

I think i saw this MC before in other Kyoani show

I was hoping that Ami would get a longer, more Usagi-like transformation sequence. This is the modern day, magical girls have more equal standing. The hero doesn't need to get all the flashiness all the time. But it appeals to that sense of nostalgia, and at the very least she got a roll call. Kanemoto, as I expected, looks to be channeling a bit of Kotoura in her role as Ami. Otherwise, much like the first episode, this is a story I've seen before, so aside from changing the software to a CD, not a whole lot of comments I didn't already say some amount of weeks ago.

Woah now, lets not bog down Sailor Moon with one of Precure's issues. I'm glad they don't bother to give the others super long transformations given how obnoxious it can be honestly.

It's a small thing, but one thing I really liked about this episode was the tiara impact. It wasn't even an actual impact as much as a heavy slash. Also, Ami's VA isn't playing her like Yayoi which was pretty much all I was asking for.

I thought it was a clever way to go through a large cast of characters while giving you an idea what the show will be about. Don't worry, they don't assume you've learnt everything in episode one and development will continue. Obviously there is a bit of assumption that those watching may already be a fan of the franchise so they can't drag out the introductions for them, but as someone who was foreign to iM@S before watching I came away liking it. In some ways I'd argue it is the best videogame adaption ever because it can appeal to those who are not a fan of the source material.

Also it was quite a clever way to put the first person aspect of the games into the show before moving the camera into the third person perspective.

Is cowgirl in the anime? If not, eh.
Cowgirl is from Cinderella Girls and therefore not part of the original iM@S crew and therefore a fake.

Because she loves her brother and is attracted to that kind of stuff Nothing more fancy than that. :p

It's episode 13 of S2 if you want to watch it for yourself for some reason.

Aye, figured. It's just that she felt so genuine in her original claim that it just didn't seem like that was her actual motivation behind it. Again, it's easy to say that she was lying to herself and believed in some cheap excuse instead... but meh. Doesn't feel like an elegant way to go about it. Especially since that immediately threw the incestuous aspect out of the window for the majority of the show, which was something I may have considered interest if executed really well.

Also... while I can't recall too much of the show, I really didn't get the impression that she thought much of her brother before he really gets involved in her shit anyways. That she thinks of him more after he's doing all her Otaku business with her, sure, classic "they grew closer".

Whatever, I'm writing too much about this show.

She did before some stuff that's explained in S2 E13 happened :p

And yeah. I don't like the ending at all so I don't really want to have this discussion either.

The Idolm@ster Ep. 2

Better than the first episode but still not clicking with me. The writing for this episode kind of made it feel like an episode out of a show aimed at tween girls, but that rubs me the wrong way given that the franchise is primarily aimed at men and the male gaze shots in the first episode drive that point home. The director for this episode did a few episodes of K-On! and it did have that feel about it.

Edit: The ED animation was kind of nice, since it serves as a supplement to flesh out Iori a bit more.

Sailor Moon Crystal 2

I sure do remember differences between mediums of Sailor Moon.

I do think how the next episode will end could be important to how this plays out, granted it could be a ruse instead. Anyway, I can see where Ami looks more meek here, and it's a bit more expressive in this episode as well. Music is still eugh though, and Mercury's transformation just.... didn't feel right.

Wait you want LONGER transformations?

If anything they should cut Sailor Moon'ss down to the length of Mercury's.

Sailor Moon Crystal 2

Another strong episode, enjoying the serious tone this series has compared to the originals more comedic tone. The CG water looked weird, thankfully they didn't linger on it much or else it might have been distracting. Hearing next episode is when we'll know we're not in Kansas anymore looking forward to it.

Plotwise I've no issues and I think Usagi sounds far better in this ep.

What gets me down is mostly me being terribly unfair about the production. Animation and art is such a shadow of what I'm getting in in Sailor Stars. I mean, I assume that group was at the top of their game after so many episodes of work but I don't think I'd even find myself making a comparison if the current show's visuals weren't so perfunctory.

The reason Kirino likes the little sister games is because she misses that relationship with her brother whom she looked up to and afmired. When Kyosuke was younger he was a smart, athletic student. But eventually he started ignoring Kirino and became an underachiever. Its not just a show about incest, there is a level of depth and nuance to Oreimo.

The two interconnected stories is working so well so far. The SoraOto comparisons are getting a little stronger, though Kouta's not as brazen as a pervert as Tomoki was. Rurumo remains adorable. I've also seen the yandere mom everyone was talking about. That's a bit different for Mamiko Noto.

People actually believe this kind of drivel just to convince themselves oreimo isn't the incestuous brotherfucker anime it is

assuming that they made a huge mistake in a video sent to the police after they are clearly represented as "damn smart and dangerous terrorists"? That's dumb. also why would they send a stupid and famous riddle like the classic one? It was obvious that it wasn't that.
it's lack of specific knowledge as they didn't know the other version of the myth but they also went full retard by assuming that the riddle was the classic one, for no reason.
Yeah, the police screwed up, but that was the point, right? They were under stress and jumped at the next best explanation somebody blurted into the room. I assume this will change with Mr. Beard.

Except when they want to fuck their brains out while perfectly knowing that they're siblings. It would've been nice if it would've just a stroy about two sibilings that overcome a distance and get friends again. But no. That didn't happen.

Jojo Stardust Crusaders 16

A mix of boring, stupid and badly paced. I care less and less about the characters.
I don't know why I'm still watching this. I think I'm going to wait until the end and then quick-watch the rest skipping where I see convenient.

I hit that point last week and decided to put the series on ice for a while. It had become a chore to watch.

I don't think you're being unfair. Crystal looks pretty bad and it's not even like they're making one episode per week!

And where did all that depth go? To them banging like rabbits ;)

You know, maybe it would be a better show if they're weren't being so faithful. Don't like it now? Guess what, there's like 40 episodes to go!

As much as I liked him showing up early on, Dio works so well as this faceless bogeyman final boss that that team is dreading to confront until they learn the nature of his Stand. I think it helps give the journey more sense of purpose in that if they don't figure out the mystery, they'll likely end up dead as the individual powers of the Stands grow far more outlandish.

I would certainly be more inclined to keep going until it gets better if the series wasn't going to last for another year.

Poor Yurika, constantly getting shitted on. Nobody believes she a magical girl, forced to wear a revealing magical girl costume, broke her cup noodles her only dinner, got nowhere to go home except sleeping in the closet, doing terribly in school and got tricked into a cosplay club. And funnily she is the most interesting person on the show, I bet majority of the viewers were rooting for her when she began making a comeback in the card games.

Pretty much. Should have cut a number of these episodes out.

There's always the OAV for that, and maybe gonna end up as the definitive adaptation for you guys, but fan like me couldn't risk they skipping part that I actually like!
I more bothered with that honestly than the show overall being good.

For non fans, I can tell you won't miss anything if dropping now and catch up at eps 44.

Btw can't help but think you guys should just treat the show like Space Dandy.

I mean, this was totally off radar to me but in my weekend boredom was browsing Netflix and decided to give it a try.

Holy mother of God. This is Attack on Titan in space but with an stratospheric budget. Sometimes I can't even discern what's CG from traditional anime, and the animation itself is top, top notch. Story is a bit cliché but at least it doesn't require a PhD to understand like Evangelion.

For those looking for an awesome sci fi, mecha anime to watch, look no further. GAF's take on it?

This will end well.

It makes me feel good to see oreimo get put on blast. I
would have loved the show so much more if it had been about a brother and sister overcoming years of separation to become great friends again instead of them overcoming years of separation to decide they're gonna fuck each other like rabbits once they get out of high school and get married.

The issue with trying to cut episodes out of the Jojo adaptation is that while a lot of them may not be super relevant to the plot, a lot of them represent "bizarre" encounters that are enjoyable to a wide range of people. Like I don't think the "Strength" fight added much and I wasn't a big fan but if someone was going to ax "episodes that aren't super relevant" then it would be easy to imagine that they nix the "Wheel of Fortune" fight which I really enjoyed. How do you decide what to cut and what to keep without disappointing someone? I'm going through this all for the first time (though like any anime fan I kind of already know the ending :p) - the show is basic shonen but it's rock solid and enjoyable. Aside from inconsistencies that arise due to Araki's tendency to not remember stuff he wrote X episodes ago (which is kind of REALLY annoying to be fair) I'm having a good time.
