The abuse being casually tossed at Evo on Facebook and Twitter makes me really sad. I know people are pissed they can get online, I mean, so am I. But Rushy and team are probably busting their ass to fix this and people are just saying all kinds of terrible and untrue things.

Sometimes the gaming community disappoints me.

Sometimes?

Gamers are the most childish group in existence today.

Its like they are still 8 years old and forever will be. The moment they don't get what they want they pitch a fit like a little kid would.

I'm finding it hard to relate these days.

So what's with so many people hating on the soundtrack? I love it thus far and feel that it fits the game like a glove. It has that airy electronic vibe that Hybrid does so well which works beautifully with the massive sense of scale and changing weather.
People are hating on the soundtrack? It's friggin awesome!!

Fix for EU pre-order bonus cars should be rolling out.

I've seen people say the sound in this game is very bad, but I love the way the engines sound.

Me too. It could be due to a lot of people playing in cockpit view. I only really used front hood view and cockpit and in cockpit. I'm pretty sure the sound is muffled since you're inside the car and doesn't roar like from the outside.

It's weird how even Evolution thought it wasn't good enough to complement any actual gameplay, by default. I was initially down on it, then I was flipping through the playlist on Youtube someone put together. There's definitely some jams I could get into in there. Totally a mixed bag, though. It sounds like an old-school library rights dump like they would have done before original compositions were really common.

The hate that people spew sucks, but a lot of that could be prevented if they had some intern or someone updating twitter every couple hours on progress, or tell people what is happening. Post pictures of people installing new servers, or coding a hotfix, SOMETHING. Rushy's post was too late.

I am loving the soundtrack, and once I found out it was by Hybrid, it made that much more sense.

That's not why it is off by default.

Haha. No, I pretty sure that's not why they did it. I think I heard it said somewhere that it was because they put so much work in to the sound that they didn't want to just have music cover it up.

Omfg that's not true. Fans have ask to mute music by default so they can hear the awesome engine sounds. Rushy said then that he managed to convince the team to make it so.

Man this game brings really the dark side out of people. So much hate it's ridiclous

So having played a couple of races now Gerstmann's review seems like crazy talk to me. How can anyone call the driving in this bad and not fun? The overall package is definitely lacking some features but the driving itself is great.

The reason they have to "bust their ass" is they own fault actually.
I don't want to be mean, but they got our money for the game, as well as Sony takes money for PS+, so they should provide reliable service.
And because of all that noise they will probably do better next time (or not, no one seems to learn a lesson from Diablo 3 launch).

I really like the game, but now it's just like it is missing half of it (I mean multiplayer, clubs, and I DON'T mean weather or replays like in some reviews)

Honestly, the mix of music and scenery combined with the high speed racing (which is really proving quite satisfying) is really hitting the right string for me. While the game plays nothing like it I can't help but recall the great moments of playing Ridge Racer here. The feel and atmosphere of playing the game is part of the experience and I love it. I like the event setup quite a bit as well and really appreciate how fast the game loads. You're just jumping in and out of events like nothing.

I'm definitely concerned about the AI becoming annoying later on, though.

In a stream I watched it definitely wasn't my style. If I get this game I'll likely turn it off (or leave it off?)
That's cool, but I just think the "airy" sound of the music is really just perfect for this game.

I guess whether or not the driving is enjoyable is subjective, so it'll vary from person to person. I don't agree with Gerstmann's opinion of the game at all, but he's certainly entitled to it.

I agree with you though, the driving is amazinnnng.

It was truly something special. I'm taking a break from most of the game until everything is online, but I can't wait to have more moments like that. It's great to see so many people enjoying the game, despite the rocky launch.

Um you can definitely drive outside the barrier in this game lol. The first couple of races in tour mode with the massarati (forgot which location), the AI clipped my right rear ending sending my car flying over the barrier, I kept on drive before the counter set the cat back on track.

I guess it's track based because I've had another instance when the car hit an invisible wall in the sky to preventing it from going out of bounds

Finished the first few event, driving feels great. The environments are the real star of the show for me though, the sense of scale and attention to detail in breathtaking. Can't wait until the I can connect and play some multiplayer.

I feel this game will be loved by the community despite crap reviews. The anti Destiny.

I got to play one online race, against 1 dude though. It was epic.

lol

I got them. Well not all three but the two from GS.

Put in the code and they dl'd and I have the McLaren and RUF sitting in my garage.

(US btw)

Need that RUF asap. For some reason the CTR3 Hypercar unlocked for me after doing a Tour race though.

Wait, so judging from these impressions, I can't even make a sandwich between events? We've come a long way from the MGS4 five course meal load screens.

Haven't played a racing game since GT4 so I'm pretty excited to give this a shot on PS+. Gaffers got me tempted to just buy it outright though

You can but it would be one mediocre sandwich. ;)

I'm dreading MP now seeing how the AI gets aggressive at some turns can't imagine that with humans! This sort of racer is the type you let everyone go ahead and crash while you take your time through the turns

Depends how well the penatly system is implemented online... Could be bad though.

Just took my frist single track event outside the tour.

Norway, Skyolden track. 17.00 with 45x timelapse.
Turned the hud off, picked up a Maserati Granturismo for the first time.

My mind was blown.

If there's one thing Evolution has undeniably achieved, is giving you the sense of speed. Holy shit i was almost scared to impact against something.

Well it rewards smart driving, so if your opponents aren't wreckless knobs it should be fine.

Yup but being penalized for cutting corners will get so frustrating when someone intentionally bumps you while braking into a corner. Lol I can see a lot rage races already. Glad everyone in the lobby can hear each other

So if I just want to race and don't care about stuff like tuning is this game for me? Been itching for a good racer

I don't think there is tuning. And the racing is either omg amazing or not very good at all. I say go for it! I'm still waiting patiently for the freebie version.
