I don't even get the update notification :(

Clearly you aint awesome enough! Nice to hear XP i earn while offline will eventually get totted up. I wasnt sure initiall so went back through what i'd already done. On a few race results screens i've had an "over something or other X number of XP points", like around 1000 or so. Any ideas?

Whoa!

Did not know that. That's good news, I guess.

Indeed. Sucks for a guy like me who's levelled to level 20 by now because I still don't have net at home and none of that can go to the great guys at SansFrontieres. (I haven't a clue how you spell our club name)

mhh online worked for me for about an hour. had a great half dozen of races. a bit destruction derby at the start, as expected, but if you survive it is a great fight with the clean racing guys. really addictive

time for a club...

Me and my nephew have been playing Driveclub most of the day and it's been a blast, even managed to get a couple of multiplayer races before it went offline again. My favorite car so far is the Lotus as it slides beautifully around those bends :) , Thank god i ignored the reviews and followed my gut instinct and bought it.

Frankly, I think if they're going to have the penalty system, it should be more severe -- it's too easy to pinball off of cars and walls and still make a clean pass, and while you get point deductions for that... who gives a shit when it leads to winning a race? This reminds me of the PGR games, where wall bumping was common in high-level races, due to how tight the courses were and how little speed you lost when hitting a wall (for a lot of corners, the fastest way to take a turn was to go into a corner a bit too fast and bump off the wall coming out of the turn). RPM penalties are actually not a new concept even to arcade racers -- the Initial D games have them (although there's also a way to negate them, at least in the older versions) and the Ridge Racer games would just drop your RPM and speed on the spot for hitting anything.

BUT

This only works if you can properly assign blame for a given collision. That's what really needs to be fixed -- getting sideswiped off the road by another AI driver and then eating a corner cutting penalty on top of that is just awful. They should make it so that if you were hit off the road by someone else, you shouldn't get a off-road/corner penalty. However, this could lead to some weird play in team races (where you intentionally bump a teammate off the road so they can take a shortcut). Who knows.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
PS+ Driveclub up yet? (sorry, I've had the flu for two days... not kept up with anything)

Anybody's PS4 freeze when trying to close DriveClub? I've been stuck trying to close the app after the update for 10 minutes now. Is it safe to unplug my PS4?

This should be easy to handle. Temporarily disable corner penalties for 'victim' only if both people involved in collision are not in the same team. Fully agree with your post.

While I'm here I have some thoughts on the game after around 5 hours.

+ graphics are incredible
+ plays great
+ excellent tracks

- no replays. This really is a huge omission considering some of the great laps I've put in
- no songs in-game. I know you can have music but it would be nice to have some songs to accompany the racing
- online is busted, obviously
- chile is a bit bland.

Really looking forward to the dlc. Some city tracks or some desert settings could be cool.

Got Driveclub/Shadow of Mordor for $74, after trading in Destiny/Watchdogs yesterday and man, not only the game looks amazing, but it's really addictive. It's really intense, fun and the driving controls are easy to get into, even if you're a terrible driver like me.

There's music in-game. It's off by default.

I managed to get connected online and then I read about an update so I restarted the PS4 and still no update and no online now.

Music != songs? Whaaa!

I guess you mean music with lyrics in?

As for Chile, it is odd. I went in to the game thinking from all the footage that Chile looked the worst location with Norway the best and Canada close behind.

Now I rank Chile right behind Norway. It really shows off the lighting, it can look so varied.

can't believe how I still choke at the end section of a final lap.

can't count how many times, everything is going good...and I start glancing everywhere (behind me, map) and try to be too perfect on corners or some small section that just messes with u just enough. ugh.
