Played a few hours and enjoyed it so far. Insane visuals. Plenty of issues with the overall game but I hope rad gets another chance to correct the bad stuff and then build on what they have.

I tried playing FC4 right after playing The Order last night, as I got that free co-op demo.
- FC4 all of a sudden looks like everything is made out of cardboard cutouts.
- It also looks like it runs at much worse framerate than Order, despite being solid 30. The quality of motion blur in Order makes it feel, far, far smoother than a typical 30FPS game, it's actually incredible.
- The quality of antialiasing in FC4 is still very good, and impresses even playing it right after Order.

I have to say Order really is a game changer visually, as it makes FC4, a game generally regarded to have some of the better visuals around, feel woefully dated.

But is it a TV with 1920x800 resolution? If not, the picture needs to be zoomed and you won't get 1:1 pixel mapping.

I am running FC4 maxed out on PC and the order impressed me way more visually than any other game I have ever played.

How much interactive are the environments? In example, are the mayority of the objects given at least a basic physics behavior when applying forces to them either via shooting or touching them. And destructability, not talking about making holes in walls, but for example objects like chairs, furniture, boxes get damaged?
I would say yes, but you dont really have a chance to find out as you cant use your weapon whenever you want, only in combat scenarios, where destructible material is rare.

Holy shit. Just went from Chapter 11 to Chapter 15 in about half an hour. That's quite sad.
Yeah, they are cheating a bit with the chapters. The halfway point is about when you reach chapter 6.

Beat the game, platinum'd it, etc.

Very rude, unprofessional, and other things that I won't say if reviewers rated this a 1, 2, 3, 4, outta 10.

I'm curious how they have jobs. I haven't paid attention to reviews in quite some time but I'll never bother going to your sites and giving you hits, youtube views, or anything for that matter.

Started playing it now - impulse purchase...

I don't like how soft the image is, I can only play this in short bursts without my eyes straining as a result. Way too much processing/AA.
I must admit that during the first shooting section of the game I noticed that it intentionally makes the foreground/background blurry (think smart phone focus) depending on where you are aiming. That made the section seem soft but I didn't notice it during chapter 3 combat so idk

Are people playing on Hard?

Is there any kind of challenge? Is hard the highest difficulty?

Im not expecting it to be impossible but it might be fun if it had the kind of difficulty and pace of Gears of War on higher difficulties or Uncharted on hard.
Hard is the highest difficulty and its still pretty easy I would say.

What in the fuck are you talking about ? It's a 21:9 screen

But the PS4 outputs at 1080p. WIthout zooming in you would end up with a black frame around the picture, unless you stretch it. It's no different than watching non-anamorphic 16:9 content on a 16:9 TV, like this

If I remember rightly one chapter
you start in a mine/tunnel
then you walk a bit and
move a big bit of wood
and you are in a different chapter.

Just finished with chapter
8
. That, and the previous chapter were soooooo intense and interesting. Awesome voice acting and performances.

Yeah, to make some chapters just one cutscene is incredibly odd. Doesnt really seem like chapters to me and it definitely feels like they ran out of budget and had to cut a lot of gameplay out.

Finished up the game just now. Still a little left for the Plat, but overall it was a pretty good game. I liked the visuals and the story was decent. Gun combat was more mediocre, even with some pretty awesome and diverse weapons. I won't go into my thoughts on the ending here, but I do have a few very strong opinions on what happened and how things concluded.

Might be worth a replay to see all the individual plot threads come together and see the early hints at the story.

Edit: I also felt RAD could have learned something about cover from Naughty Dog.

Hey Viveks, just wanted to chime in that your review was well written. Thanks for taking the time for it. Bummer you didn't like the game but I do understand. I may not have time to finish until tomorrow but I'll write up mine then. On chapter 11 now.

Soooo, turns out
there are in fact vampires in the game.
Very well.

Arrived at chapter 11.
This game really took off after the
blimp accident.
Those sections had finally some more action in it. But damn, the fights against lycans aren't really nice. Devs should have added a quick-turn mechanic. You only see those bastards running towards you before it's almost too late. Died so many times because I didn't know where they came from. Somehow couldn't make it out by listening to the audio either (surround system, not headphones).

My American centric mindset is forcing me to ask this question.

So the American Revolution still happened. The Order fights rebels. How the hell did the colonies win?

Unlike some others here i don't think there is good game under it all .
RAD needs to complete change how they make the order 2 , even the shooting that is okay becomes boring because of there level design.
The game has way to many flaws and i don't know if they can fix them .
Don't think it worth more than 5 out of 10 and can see why reviews were so hard on it .
My opinion is the same as viveks86 but i did not find the characters that interesting after a while.

I am

I outlined how I felt about it last night. It's a game that's a dangerous level of divisive. If one of the things the game does well misses the mark for a particular player, the entire enjoyment of the game is sunk.

If you go into expecting a Gears/Uncharted type game you're going to be disappointed. After going into it knowing it would be essentially an interactive movie with gameplay sections, I enjoyed it alot more. I've been more immersed and engaged with this than I have with anything I've ever played. I've still got a long ways to go before I beat it though so that could change. It's certainly not for everyone though.

Is the framerate supposed to drop to literally 5 FPS during the artillery section? Weird given the top notch performance elsewhere.

Edit: Seems not, next two cutscenes are also running horribly so time to restart! How bizarre.

Just beat it, and I enjoyed it. All the really low review scores and extreme hate are uncalled for, and I feel a bit bad for the team that worked on it. The length of the game isn't what bothered me, it was the QTE design through out the game. I really hope this gets a sequel and they revisit the amount of QTE used and how they implement it.

The visuals are unparalleled, and their attention to detail is amazing. I've never gawked so much at graphics while playing a game. Majority of the time its looks like CGI. Black bars didn't bother me at all, and I hated them on the evil within.

The one major stealth area is pretty awful, and the two "boss" fights are lame. The gun play overall was great and I enjoyed it, felt a lot like gears of war. I thought a lot of the set pieces you fight in were really cool. I wish that you fought more enemy types and the Lycans were a bit of a let down. The story and acting was good, but it had a slow start.

Even though I enjoyed it,game play wise it has a lot of room for improvement. The setting and visuals are godly. If I had to give it a score its a solid 7.5

Just finished up chapter 6 and hotdamn I'm really loving this. I like the cover system...I've liked the encounters so far...the story is serviceable. There's not much I can say about the visuals that haven't already been said...they best I've ever seen.

There were parts so far that made me wish this were a survival horror game though. The atmosphere is pretty nice. Made me think of how Silent Hill will turn out.

Back to it...

I can't be immerse when there are button prompts on screen a lot of the time for everything.
Or when the game throw badly design levels at you over and over .
When you can stealth kill in one section but all of a sudden can't when they feel like it .
I knew what to expect but i did not think the other parts of the game would be so bad .

Jett please tell me your playing this game. Just for the visual spectacle bro

Viveks. You tryin to get on Amirox's list or something?

Lol just kidding. Great write up man. To bad you didn't enjoy it. I'm only at chapter 4 and will pick it back up after wotk this evening. I'm enjoying myself so far but I'm not sure how I will feel by the end. Hopefully get in a solid 4 or 5 hours tonight. Should be finished by tomorrow night.

On chapter 3. Visually it is amazing but it just lacks gameplay for me. If it isn't a cutscene, it is moving the character around in between cutscenes. Is that classed as gameplay?

Just picked up my copy and I can't help but think that a majority of the drama revolving around this game is just to create a non-traversy in a very boring and sterile first couple of years of this new gen. Everything I have played of this game has been a joy and I have really enjoyed what I have experienced of the game so far. The only complaints I have is that smoke grenades are absolutely useless, I don't feel like I'm actually doing much during QTE's due to lousy force feedback, and my ability to pull off headshots is much more efficient than the concentration pistol mode which empties your clip into enemies and does minimal damage. Maybe there is a trick that I am missing? Not sure.

Other than that, I'm sucked in, and I think that this is a wonderful start to an awesome franchise. Just please dear god add Gears of War multi to the next game. The foundation is there, and it would definitely round out the entire experience.

If you go into expecting a Gears/Uncharted type game you're going to be disappointed. .

So, if you go in expecting a game the way Sony has marketed this the entire way through (include commercials playing in GameStop right now), you'll be disappointed?

This game is fucked when casual customers realize that didn't get a shooter, they got Beyond: Two Souls instead.

I think the chapters change every time you change location. which makes sense but then leads to a 2 minute chapter when u have a cutscene back at the base then go back out.

None of that matters if the native TV res is 1920x800. If it is (and it should hopefully be), then the game would be scaled down by default, and then when you zoom it in, it would be natively mapped with 1:1 pixels and black bars cropped. Same would go with watching any 2.4:1 bluray movie, as they too are encoded with black bars.

It's very much a mix of a shooter and something like Beyond/Heavy Rain. In about equal amounts so far early in the game. I that something you expect/think you'll like, I don't think you can be disappointed with this game.

Just got passed the woman getting beat in the alley.

Loving the game so far. Hope my opinion stays this way, the first Lycan encounter seemed bad though. Still such an atmospheric game, getting totally immersed in the world
