Bloodborne: PVP Details, New Screenshots, HDD Size

Yep played all 3 souls games so know about the earlier ones. This game looks really interesting and will be the reason I finally get a ps4

In Dark Souls 2, they introduced a ring in DLC that made you appear "normal" even when invading. So there is hope this could happen in Bloodborne, even if requires special equip/etc.

Though, your name still appears above your character in PvP/etc, so they will still know your an invader, thus kinda giving away the "surprise" element. No idea how this might work for Bloodborne.

Well in the alpha instead of your PSN name appearing overhead it was the charcter classes name. So perhaps your actual character name will appear over your head? This is speculation based on old info though, so we have to wait to find out. I really hope its character name though.

Are there character types in this game? Like Pyro, sorcerer etc?

There are different starting backgrounds like waste of skin and milquetoast. All give different starting stats but as we know so far none are drastically different as say knight vs sorceror.

EDIT: Beaten

I respect your choice not to pay for PS+ but I couldn't fathom not using it. I mean why shell out $400 for a system and not get the most out of it? PS+ is probably the most value added subscription/feature I've seen on a console. So many discounts and free games its mind boggling - not to mention being able to play online. I just don't get complaining about losing out on features or accessibility when its such an important aspect of the system.

Can't answer for anyone else, but in my case it's because I don't want to miss out on specific games. Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 in this case. Luckily both will be worthwhile without multiplayer.

Was it?
I though it was clear that any kind of online gameplay (excluding F2P games) was behind PS+ paywall, and it has always been since day 1 on PS4.

Also seriously this. If youve had a PS4 its been readily apparent that any game that has online will require PS+ barring its f2p. I think people are really holding on the fact that PS3 doesnt require plus for souls games and so believe Bloodborne shouldnt either.

Name Engraved Ring let you choose a god; if both had the same god made it FAR more easier to co-op even with disproportionate level ranges.

This one makes it seem like you just choose a key code and send it to friends which is the far better option if you ask me.

With 8 characters there's enough of a variety of combinations to basically guarantee connection with the person you want (moreso if it includes numbers). Definitely an excellent addition I think

You guys seriously have never seen tongue but hole or alternatives? Those messages were everwhere in DS2.

I liked that the community got creative in creating profane messages within the limits of the message system.

AMAZING CHEST AHEAD
TRY HOLDING WITH BOTH HANDS
TRY ATTACKING FROM BEHIND

No ones mentioning how tense it will be anytime you do decide to co-op.

In the alpha when you rang the bell to pull someone in they'd spawn in from wherever they were in their world and would have to come and find you. The game also didng give an indication that theyd entered.

Now when the player wants to Co-op they ring the bell and a Bell Maiden appears somewhere in the world opening them up for invasions as well. If they want to not be invaded they have to find and kill her.

Now imagine ringing the bell to co-op and entering the pvp queue. Now its a race agaisnt the clock to find the bell maiden and kill her before youre invaded, or once invaded find and team up with your partner before the invader find either of you alone!

All the while you're exploring you wont know if someone is there in youre world ready to help or hurt you.

Straight into my veins baby.

This sounds AMAZING. Hopefully it's implemented exactly like that.

It should open up on the 20th if you are in the US.

More like 22nd in the US.

The co op stuff with the watchword sounds cool. I'm really not into PVP though so I'm not interested in invasions and I wish you could turn them off altogether.

I just don't like that those little co op features need PS+. I would have thought Sony wouldn't do that. Their stance was only full online games require PS+.

That was never their stance with PS4. They have been very upfront, from announce to now, that PS4 online multiplayer requires ps+. Co-op is online multiplayer. Do I think it sucks? Sure, I hate paying for online multiplayer, but I'm not going to pretend this is something akin to false advertising or skeevy behavior.

Yet you are screaming and claiming a downgrade? Looks like you are not reserving your judgement here.

I know. It's just the screens don't look as good as the others. I'll shut up about it.

It just feels wrong to me paying for something that's been free for 7 years. And still is, on PS3. The free games are nice but.......i just can't. I haven't played COD AW or Destiny since my 3 month subscription that was given to me ended in December.

I remember before PS4 launched they said they were trying to be fair. That's why apps didn't need it. Only online games would like COD. Unless i interpreted that wrong.

I wouldn't call Bloodborne an online game.

I thought I could keep my hype at bay but I guess not. I can't replay the Souls game because I have completed them so many times already and every other game is...not Bloodborne. Fuck.

I think that at this point, considering both the quantity and quality of PS+ offerings, you're just yelling at clouds. I rarely play online, so for me it's more a perk to the free games.

Not really. They suggested that anything that involves synchronous multiplayer requires PS+. PvP and Co-op are both synchronous multiplayer.

Pretty much. The only argument for a lack of PS+ requirement in the current climate is for the ability to see messages and ghosts of other characters, as those are asynchronous.

Its different from the Souls games. Now co-op partners have no hue and im going to assume invaders wont either. Would make it that much better and intense

This would also mean that your "partner" could turn on you at any point right? Pretend like they are helping you with a boss and then screw you over when things get too intense? :O

If I'm honest, I thought the passive online features (i.e. the messaging system) would have worked at least without PS+. I'll be on PS+ anyway, but just what I thought as Sony seemed a bit more lenient with PS+ from the start (F2P, MMO's, etc not requiring PS+). And I'm not even talking about co-op/PVP.

Destiny works in a similar way, you can see other people as you play without needing PS+.

In Dark Souls 2 there was a ring that made invaders have the "white" hue and people would actually do that. Pretend to help out, and then backstab them to death. For Example. Was hilarious.

If Bloodborne doesn't give you an idea of if a guest is co-op or invader, that would be hilarious and awesome! Though you could prob target them I'm sure.

There hasn't been friendly fire in the previous games, so that doesn't seem possible. Edit: I'm an idiot. Like a big idiot.

Do we know if those require PS+ as well?

I don't think it's been mentioned if it does or does not.

This is all we've got:

The PS+ requirements from the website:

Bloodborne & Playstation Plus Multiplayer Interaction Need PS+?

Online Multiplayer | YES
Asynchronous Network Play | YES
Online Dungeon Share | YES
Updates | NO
Dungeon Data | NO

Would be bullshit to require PS+ for messages, as I said before, you can play on your own and interact with other players in Destiny without PS+, you just can't use anything that requires matchmaking.

No messages would be a bummer but I'll live, never really used the online features aside from that though, summoned once in DS1 for O&S and the guy died super quick. :D

Prefer doing everything solo anyway.

But messages would definitely be nice!

LMAO! That was hilarious!

I hope my copy is ready to go on launch day, I have preordered it on psn and 41 gb is a lot. Hopefully the preload does not disappoint me.

Hmmm… We'll see. I would think messages would not require PS+ as well.
