THIS IS PERFECTLY FINE?!

Ugh. I had deleted those games from memory.

Will they even do a pre-E3 thing this year? What do they even have besides MGSV?

They could honestly make all of this up to me by having another 2010 tier conference. They don't even really need any games in order to do this. Just whatever kind of drugs they were passing around that year.

I just got this warning on my phone for this page.

I would message a mod but I'm on my phone and not sure how to find mods on here. So hopefully someone will see it.

Whoops, didn't check where the images came from, just linked them for the sake of the joke. I pulled them from Google Images.

I changed it. Thanks for the heads up.

I see that image avoided Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, which is good...

But I attest I think Downpour is a good but flawed game.

Such a waste of their talents

I know VitaGAF likes it because they've not got much else to like, but man that game completely pales in comparison to even Siren. New Siren on PS4 in non-episodic format would be pretty sweet.

I can understand you not liking gravity rush,
what really irks me is saying its a waste of their talents.

I ABSOLUTELY hate when gamers say this. If a game developer wants to branch out, let them do so. They don't have to stay in the horror genre forever. Just they so happen to do so well on it doesn't mean they can't or heck, can't try to do something new and fresh for themselves.

Son of a bitch,

Didn't a Konami rep confirm that "the Del Toro collaberation was strictly between Konami and Del Torro, not Kojima".

I can't find it.

On top of that, they lied in the face of people ?

I'm confused why you think him being in the game means gameplay is going to be sacrificed.

Confused? He is famous for one thing, being a one man army zombie killing machine.

You don't pay big money for a guy like that and then completely ignore what he is famous for. You get some unknown guy for that.

If this game had gone ahead, you would have been shooting tanks with rocket launchers. And that is before Kojima stepped in to make those tanks have legs.

It might have been glorious, but it would never have been the Silent Hill game people were thinking of.

To be honest Kojima could make a generic horror game and it would not infringe at all on Silent Hills IP rights...

There is not a whole lot "exclusive" to the silent hill franchise (besides pyramid head);

Just take PT and blow it up to a full game if Konami does not want to play ball anymore. Hopefully Kojima finds some where to work, and does not leave making games entirely (or retiring, he is 51 now!)

Sadly I knew not to get my hopes up when a perfect pair for a horror game (Kojima and del Toro) were announced. Del Toro has had horrible luck with games.... with all his projects up to this point being canceled as I recall.

Well, this blows a lot. There is a part of me that thinks this is all a stunt since Konami can't fuck up this badly, can they?

Let's keep stupid shit like this out of this thread.

This is very silly and also totally baseless. Actors often star in different kinds of works, just like directors often create different kinds of games.

Where in all of P.T. did it give off the impression that Norman Reedus was going to be mowing down things with rocket launchers?

I think it was only actually flawed in two ways: the technical side (textures, framerate, etc) and the weird sidequest structure. Other than that it had my favorite story since SH2 and it's not even close if I'm being honest.

I'm not sure I even want to pick up MGSV at this point. I was so excited for Silent Hills, and Konami went and fucked that right up. I may just have to wait and pick up a used copy, I don't want to give those fucks a dime.

God, all of these were horrible. The first Silent Hill movie was OK, but everything after was just.... I WANT TO FORGET THE TERRIBLENESS.

The main problem with majority of the games after The Room they were trying to copy SH2's psychological horror and killing a loved one, but missing the mark by a country mile. Stop copying SH2 already damn it, and give 1, 3 and 4 more love.

Agreed. At best this is what I hope happens, that Kojima continues his own horror game project without Konami's Silent Hill IP as PT showed a taste of what he was heading; which could be easily it's own thing instead of a Silent Hill revival.

Because GAF picks nothing but gold. If I haven't seen several topics in the past about how people disagreed with the GAF GOTY, especially the MGS4 win, I'd take it more seriously. The game was a tech marvel and gorgeous to look at, but that was pretty much it. It took back the MGS franchise considerably.

This is of course IMO so take it as you will.

Sorry for the lack of quote but I'm on mobile, but in regards to the comment if Silent Hill 3 being released 12 years ago, it's better to let some things die that pilfer their corpse again and again.

I was joking with MGS4, I understand that "it's crap" comments, but not comments about how GZ is junk.

I'm pretty sure he was rather well known for Boondocks Saints long before then. Hell, I knew about him and that film long before AMCs TWD and I still haven't actually seen the film itself.

There's also no foundation to your argument except your foundation that somehow every actor must be typecast. If I recall, Sean Bean was in the Silent Hill films. Didn't really live up to his usual role in them.

FYI, Reedus' involvement likely had to do with this:

It's like they are trying so hard to get people to hate them that this can't be real. How can one company be so out of touch with literally everything

This news isnt surprising with kojima gone but it's still disappointing.

Hopefully Konami releases the silent hills reboot people have been asking for.

Man, this is sad. I think that after the Phantom Pain, Kojima's last work with Konami, I won't be buying any game from them ever again.

I think they took this a little too far.

I want to say it's because they no longer care about their AAA-gaming division.

But they already announced publicly that Metal Gear will continue beyond MGSV. So it's a real mystery to me.

In the case of MGS it's something that's still relevant and making them money. Give it a couple of titles down the line and it'll be a done deal.

More and more my suspicions grow that the source of the Kojima-Konami divorce was caused by Silent Hills.

Kojima was really excited about it and I bet he was going to work on that after MGSV but Konami wanted him again producing a new Metal Gear. Probably Kojima reached his limit now after upper management changed his plans from an already approved SH reboot to, again, do another MG. He said no and Konami would rather fire him than let the man that have given you so much make his first non-MG game in 10+ years.

After Kojima's fired Sony needs to grab him and Del Toro in a room, ask how much money and staff they'd need to create a new horror IP exclusively for PS4 and give it to them, get Norman Reedus, rent the motion capture studio when needed from Naughty Dog, and make the damn game.

Konami's dead to me after MGSV

Wondering how many people going "Fuck Konami" are going to be throwing money their way when MGS comes out. Regardless of whats happening this might be their big cash out on AAA titles.

Well for me, Metal Gear Solid is one of my very least favourite game franchises of all time, based on the games I've played. Not giving a shit about Metal Gear Solid V isn't accurate; it actually pains me to see it become Konami's supermassive cash cow for so many years now. I see the Collector's Edition and its stupid bionic arm model and just weep, thinking of what that money could have gone to Instead (perhaps another Castlevania ReBirth title, or a real Sparkster game, or a Goemon game that sees the light of day outside of Japan).

Silent Hills was the very last thing I cared about from them, and now with no Kojima, no del Toro, and the demo disappearing in a few days time, it's sending all the signs that it's a dead project.

So, once again, Fuck Konami.

The way I see it MGSV is going to be the celebration of Konami's downfall. It's one of those short term, long term things. Short term, MGSV is a great game and makes money and proves that the people really wanted what Kojima was offering. Long term, what the fuck else does Konami have?

People forget that Konami's gaming division bread and butter isn't Castlevania or Metal Gear. The biggest one by far is Pro Evolution Soccer what with its annual schedule and multi million sales nothing brings more money even if they play second fiddle to EA's FIFA.

Sure, Metal Gear was the second biggest cash cow and will hurt if it disappears but ppl in GAF tend to forget PES.

Maybe they plan to go for new IPs? Or a new direction for their old series? Either way, could be awesome. They still have all the skills among the team do whatever they want but they need someone with some great ideas to step up and take the director role. I'm sure they have a plan, we just can't see it right now.

Lost Planet was Capcom...

I'm sure they have a plan: it involves getting out of expensive console games development and stick with their safe money-makers outside of gaming and, in the case of gaming, stick to very safe games like the annual PES and regularly scheduled MGS sequels.

Lost Planet was Capcom, and I think most of Kojima Productions is being cannibalized too. I'm not sure what major players on the development side will still be there.

Lol sorry, its 6 a clock in the morning here :p
Anyway I think they might have a better plan than that, but it may take some time before we see some results now that Kojima is gone, someone need to step into his shoes and it won't be an easy task. :/

Are they splitting up the MGS team too? I thought that it was only Kojima that had left. If the old team is gone then bye-bye MGS, there won't be any annual MGS at all in that case, no way they're going to start up a whole new team from the ground up to do MGS games.
