wishes it were bannable to say mean things about Marvel
That's such terrible news, I had thought he was getting better. :(

I'm actually kinda worried about the future of Nintendo right now. With the Wii U bombing and the 3DS on its last legs, the last thing they're shaky unknown direction needed was the legend himself Iwata passing like this. We shit on several of his decisions, but so much of Nintendo is either directly contributed to him(the man made the code they used for Mario jumping physics!!!) or heavily influenced by him.

Got no idea what the future holds for Nintendo.

Me too but I have a feeling they will be alright. They are now in the same state that Apple was when Steve Jobs died, but I believe in them - they'll come back stronger than ever.

This is just so shocking to hear, RIP Mr Iwata :( I wish the best for his family and friends, it's such a terrible thing to lose someone important to you.

Since I joined NeoGAF I have kept the same avatar. Today, I have to make a special exception.

Thank you for all this years Mr. Satoru Iwata, your games are going to stay with us forever.

Damn, I really enjoyed that Fire Emblem Fates Iwata Asks. Never imagined it'd be the last one. I was hoping to start reading them more regularly, too, since I liked it so much. You could tell all the Nintendo staff were such fun people.

Last celeb death to make me this sad was Robin Williams.

I'd like a ribbon as well if possible.

RIP Iwata. He did so much for this industry and will always be a legend and an icon to not only Nintendo, but all of their fans as well. He will never be forgotten...

Honestly, this just makes me respect him even more. You know how many people in this world are completely incapable of saying "Sorry"? The man cared so much for gamers and never wanted to let anyone down. That means something to me.

That's a pretty positive way of looking at it...honestly, when I first read his post (the one you responded to), I just felt so full of dread. I'll admit I was one of the ones bitching and moaning about Metroid. I regret it now, I have nothing but respect for Iwata. Rest in peace.

Damn man, I cannot believe this is real.

R.I.P. Iwata.

It just does not feel right for someone important like him to leave this world and the gaming industry too soon.

I wonder if something good can come out of this at the community level. Something grassroots. A marathon of games that Iwata had a hand in, raising money for... I don't know. Cancer, perhaps.

This might be worse than Robin for me. And at the time I think that one was the worst ever for me.

Sometimes I think (morbidly) about how people will react when the giants of this industry die but it's not something I've ever been emotionally prepared for.
I've also (morbidly) thought about this as well. For me it's going to be some rough days when Miyamoto, Kojima, and Sakaguchi pass.

My condolences to his family, friends and coworkers.

When I think of Iwata I think first of his creativity and of how he saw possibility where most others didn't. It permeated every decision, from hardware to software to how to interact with fans. I don't think there are many people in the industry that were as capable or enthusiastic about creating products that tried to surprise and delight people. Hopefully his accomplishments and dedication and genuine love of the industry will help inspire more to come.

You'll be missed Iwata.

This hit me more than I would have expected. I've never been a die-hard Nintendo fan, but Iwata always seemed like an honest, kind guy who really, really cared about what he did. Way too young. RIP.

R.I.P. Satoru Iwata. Goodbye, you will be missed. Countless thanks for everything you’ve done for generations past and to come.

I hope he is given a spot in Super Mario Maker's credits. I believe that is the next major Nintendo release.

Just a mention of his name. He deserves that much.

If that doesn't happen, I guess I'll just have to make a special level in dedication to him.

Oh no... no no. Everything else I kept my cool on. But this song ALWAYS gets me teary-eyed.

I just had a few minutes full-on crying now listening to this song - though, truth be told, it wasn't just for Iwata... It is for him along with all the other people in my life, even those I will never meet, who are just amazing and I love but will never be around forever. Pretty soon they will all go, much like this amazing man has. And now it's just hit so hard again. Fuck, my eyes. :(
