I just... don't know what to say. He's pretty much responsible for a large amount of my childhood as the ceo of Nintendo.

Just... rest in peace, Mr Iwata. You legend.

Can I please be ribbonised?

RIP Mr. Iwata

In the short time we knew you, you gave us a legacy that will never be expunged.

Born in Hokkaido. No wonder he was such a personable and grounded man, that's about as "salt of the earth" as it gets in Japan.

I think the reason Iwata touched so many of us is not only because he shared and loved the same hobby we do. It's more that unlike many CEOs of companies when he spoke he was always so humble and he always felt like he was speaking "directly" to me as a gamer. Whenever he spoke you could always feel the passion oozing out of his words and it meant whenever he spoke I wanted to listen to every single word as I knew he cared so much about what he was saying and it made me care too.

He and the company he helped change and drive forward helped me through so many hard times in my life and even now after barely sleeping due to shock I'm still not really over the news. I've just been crying and although you'd think that's stupid considering I never met the guy, the way he spoke gave me that personal connection with him. It gave me the ability to truely understand how he felt and he's a massive inspiration to me for many reasons.

I've said it before and I'll more than likley say it again, but rest in peace Iwata-san, you'll be sorely missed.

I can't even imagine the atmosphere at Nintendo headquarters this morning. I mean if his passing is hitting me this hard it's much worse for the folks who actually knew him and worked with him on a daily basis. :(

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
I can't

feelings

Sad day for gaming, he seemed such a nice guy. Just been reading an interview from his Iwata asks that was linked from reddit, about how he got to grips with the Pokemon red source code in a week, so that he could help with understanding of the battle logic for the English translation of the game.
Talented guy took to soon.

It's raining here in my home town on a Summers day, now I know why. Horrednous news, struggling to take it all in really. Nintendo's management seemed different from the rest of the industry; less like men in suits and more like a family. This was becoming more evident with the rise of Nintendo Directs etc. Terrible news, just terrible. You will be missed greatly Mr Iwata.

It's a Japanese company... so I bet they are soldiering on with dignity. The dedication to the work will be their way to honour the man.

He was our friend. He never met most any of us, but he was our friend; we felt his love and passion, and he knew that others appreciated that as well.

I'm taking it hard myself; I can't sleep, and I have to work. Please don't misunderstand me, I am not trying to be egotistical or inappropriate for saying this, but... he knew that we knew that Nintendo was Nintendo, because of him; I know this for a fact because I wrote it for the card we made for him.

He knew that Nintendo was Nintendo because of him, he knew that even though the suits and the press and the market was against him, he was trusted and loved and people believed in him...

And in his last year, the company turned a profit, announcements were made, and the question mark of "what happens now?" is filled with the least amount of anxiety it can get, all things considered.

He was loved, he was loved, and we'll miss him, and remember him, and never stop loving what he did, how he did it, and what he stood for.

Don't you get it? There are no happy endings, because... because nothing ends.

Thanks for your kind words, my dear sir. Nothing more to add from my side. You're plain awesome! Helps me a lot right now to handle the sadness inside me and somehow to do my work :(

As Iwata drops his final bomb, it's one last time I get to use this image I created years ago.

I just realised there won't be another Iwata Asks, ever :,-(

Sorry if this was asked many times here, but did he ever talk to the public about his cancer, because I never heard of it before his death.

Wow. I've always respected how Iwata made sure that everything Nintendo did had their own spin on it. Even when they didn't get it perfectly right it had something setting it apart from others, or some really fun element to it. He seemed committed to making games fun first and foremost, and that was always my favorite thing with him.

Thanks for all the fish, Iwata.

It's strange that someone I've never met had such a profound impact on my childhood. I'm genuinely going to miss him.

The Treehouse employees are devastated if Twitter is anything to go buy. I can only imagine HQ.

Still in utter shock.

One of the things that made me respect the man so much was how he took a pay cut so no one would have to lost their job.

Incredible person, CEO's could take a note from him with his compassion.
