Classic Airship Level: 4AEF-0000-0021-2443

I tried to catch the vibe of the original airship levels in SMB3. I didnt make crazy things and it has the difficulty of a mid content mario level imo.
Let me know what you think.

Thx to all who played my levels and gave me feedback

UncleSporky's Zelda dungeon music stage finishes perfectly, the icing on the cake if you will.

Welcome to my world. I posted my nicely designed four stage World 1 here multiple times and no one commented at all. ;_;

Pesca 1-1
(1597-0000-0014-8573)

Pesca 1-2
(2796-0000-0016-2B01)

Pesca 1-3
(04E3-0000-001A-902D)

Pesca 1-4
(4BAB-0000-001B-70A0)

One guy on Miiverse said 1-1 "Could pass for a forgotten SMB level" :D

"Super Mario Bros: the other lost levels but not the ones that kick you repeatedly in the dick"
Yup, how's that for a tagline.
The SMB1 influence is clear, and designed with its more limited style in mind.
I thought 1-1 and 1-3 were the stronger of the four stages.
Though I'll add I did like the hidden path in 1-2, had to replay it afterwards to see the actual stage.

I look forward to seeing World 2.

Thanks, glad you liked it! I was done with the music and thought it just needed a little extra something, and remembered the mystery mushroom. :)

And then the "instruments" I used ended up being a fun thing as well.

I was subconsciously inspired by SMB 2-3 once I got jump-thru platforms and Cheep Cheeps to use.

The gimmick are cheep cheeps that are launched at Mario and he has to keep on his toes. I might have milked the gimmick a bit too much, though. Here's the level: 0415-0000-0021-2DBA

(I would've called the level "Sheik's Bouncing Fish" as a joke but most players would think there's supposed to be a Sheik costume in there which I don't have.)

I did my own riff on the Metal Man stage from Mega Man 2.

You know what this game really needs? A sprite editing and creating tool. It would only work for the first three games, but NSMB could get an alternative like a recoloring tool. Now THAT would be sick. Hope we can get something like that for DLC

There's an OBVIOUS problem with that, and it's why Nintendo would never allow something like that. I'd rather they add in a Co-Op mode, being able to look for Friends levels and Endless 100 Mario Challenge before a Sprite Editor.

So I have limited tools for creating currently but I made a slightly updated Super Mario Land world 1-1.

If anyone is interested give it a shot and let me know how I did. When I get more tools I plan on recreating the whole game.

Finally unlocked enough pieces to make a decent level.

I've hidden three one ups in pretty standard 10 Mario Mode fashion.

They wouldn't let us share them because people would draw Mario flopping around as a dick.

Well there's already a report system in thee game and the tools in the game don't prevent potential obscenity as is. I was thinking it could be a tool were you mostly use pre existing object values to define a sprite's place in the level.

I've started to use 1ups as extra collectibles, since they can potentially be helpful to players playing 100x Mario.

Same here. I tried to add some risk/reward style 1Up challenges in my latest level. You can get a 1up, but only by becoming small Mario and enter the secret room, which makes Bowser Jr wake up and attack you at an earlier point when you reach his bridge.

I'm cool with different colours but editing entire sprites would be a bit excessive, don't you think.

I really hope Nintendo will release Christmas alternates of the different level elements (Bowser as Santa Claus!) and an ice level setting and Christmas sound effects. Please, Nintendo.

Here's the first level I put a serious effort into. I unlocked the Shy Guy costume and had an idea.

C5AA-0000-001B-78DE

I uploaded it last night, and I'm surprised it only has about a 9% completion rate. I don't think it's that hard, but perhaps that's partly because I know what's coming.

Also, is there any way to see where people die on the sub-screen? It's pretty cool being able to see that on the map of the main screen and could be helpful in finding out what ideas might need some tweaking if I ever want to reuse them.

My first attempt at a level

9966-0000-0020-FEA2

made sure its beatable being untouch

I just gave this a run or 50. I know it's a "challenge" level, but I ended up deciding it's not a good level.

I liked the idea of the first falling blocks section, but the timing was too finicky. Similarly, the next (plants) section was ok, but if you arrived there without the costume, you were basically dead. Though I managed to sneak by a few times w/o it.

The sideways bouncing things that dropped me into the abyss were bullshit. I would have extended the platform if you wanted them to make that precise 4 square jump so they can afford to mess up.

There's the makings of a solid Mario level here, but I'd adhere closer to the Mario flow. Paraphrasing but:
1. Introduce concept
2. Challenge of concept
3. Challenge with twist

Also, from watching analysis of regular mario levels. It seems like the difficulty is broken up. In yours I'm still getting attacked in the rest areas.

Still, for a first attempt at a challenge level, well done.

(p.s. thanks for playing mine)

Just made my first level. While messing around with it, I've been noticing some other ideas to try after I noticed an exploit in my stage. Will definitely try to do something with it later.

Can't wait to go through this thread and try some of your levels, GAF.

Played the 100 Challenge for a few minutes last night before bed and got the craziest courses.

Outside The Box

Like most ghost houses there are a few pranks and secrets, but I've made sure that the solution is not about not being fooled, but rather using your brain to realize what you have to do (which might not be so obvious); you may also find that being "fooled" isn't always so bad, you might learn something from it...if you survive, that is.

Koopa utile

E0E5 0000 0021 8F22

I made some change in my previous level for people that are affraid to go kamikaze on block sized platforming.
I noticed in the first koopa section that if you stopped on the ? block it was hard to continue after, so i put the next koopa one case closer and put coins trail to hint when to jump.
I added coins trail for the second part of the stage too but didn't made any other change, if I believe the red crosses on the stage overview no one made it this far anyway.

Having to delete and reupload a level you fixed up is such an inelegant solution. Guess I'll just have to playtest the ever living piss out of my next levels.

I could see Nintendo changing the SMW sprites for Halloween since the special sprites like koopas have pumpkins for heads and whatnot.

Check out my first course Floating Fleet:

It is a ship level that ends with a ghost room inside the last boat. I'm open to any input.

I really like all of them except for the first. Way too many coin boxes on the first. It also isn't terribly interesting, but I think you were aiming for a 1-1 theme there. Otherwise I think they were fun to play through. Especially 1-2 with the hidden powerup.

I wonder why some levels are more played than others

an older level has 10 plays while a never has 130 plays

how does matching work... since they must have been done via 100 marios

I downloaded the patch but the game still doesn't let me use all the available tools yet.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1110137&page=1

After you get the message that new content will be delivered the next day just put down a ton of stuff. (You might have to use all the stuff you got previously first though, not sure.) Blocks are the easiest to do this with since you can just draw them onto the screen.

Once you've placed enough and aren't putting stuff into the stage (so once you stop placing blocks if you're doing it as indicated earlier) you'll hear a truck arrive and you'll get the popup that the delivery came earlier than expected and you can try a test course or just keep working. Then queue up the next delivery by being in create mode for 5 minutes or so, then repeat until you have everything.

There's no special message that tells you that doing this will deliver the stuff early, every queue message will say it'll be delivered the next day, but it just does it automatically once you've placed enough stuff.

Got up to the Airship & SMB3 pack already, but I'm done playing now since it's 2 AM.
