Assassin's Creed Syndicate Review Thread

God, some of the posts in this thread have been outright hysterical. Review publications being money-hatting shills, the game having bugs equating to lazy devs, all backed up with comparisons that are essentially comparing apples to oranges...amazing lmao.

"Syndicate" is right there in the title bro...I pity your lack of #wokeness

I thought that going into a review thread and just posting that the higher scores must be paid off without even one piece of evidence or explanation wasn't allowed?

Its Assassin's Creed. Piling up and shitting on it is encouraged here. Did you see the OT before it was changed?

I havent decided if im going to pick this up yet, but the GF has PC version preordered, Ill take a look at how it runs for her first.

Why do people keep saying this?

Not knowing how their development is I guess. I think people somehow think they are rushed but don't actually know that Ubi changes the devs so its not being rushed. Then again that is worse in many ways lol

A few really high scores and lots of in the middle scores. Ubisoft needs to slow down their manufacturing of Assassins Creed. It's all starting to look the same.

I'm happy the game turned out to be good according to reviews considering even as a fan of the series I was skeptical on this one. I'll have to pick it up.

So Syndicate ended up being a solid game in the long run? That is great to hear, as Unity's issues really painted a negative light on the series and pushed people away from it, so hopefully Syndicate draws people back into the series.

The performance issues being mostly resolved seem to be a combination of down-scaling the visual presentation from Unity and having more experience playing with the new engine they created for PS4/X1/PC development. Hopefully the next AC game blends stronger visuals and high performance in the future.

The gameplay looks like classic AC and its odd they put a leveling system in a series that really didn't need it. But it gives some kind of depth to things, so thats nice I guess.

Overall, nice to hear that a game ended up being good :).

I guess, but it's the developer's ambition. They design the game that becomes too big for them to handle. I can't put the blame squarely at the publisher's feet.

Very true, though it's worth remembering that it's a two-way street. Publishers can also make demands of the developers that may or may not be realistic and which cause big issues in terms of development. It's never just one party, or one person's, fault.

Order has insane graphics and smooth frame rate, same for DC, Forza and so on.

Is more about lazy devs than anything else.

Many great looking games with rocky solid framerate.

^post was subsequently fixed

I think the issue people dub 'lazy devs' actually comes down to two 100% separate things:

> "risk averse" devs OR publishers
> poorly managed devs OR publishers

There are many other factors, obviously, but I think these relate closest to the problematic and erroneous term 'lazy'.

(I already know the answer to this so I'm just asking for the sake of asking I guess...)

Are we really at a point where an 8 is considered a "middle of the road" score?

It seems to be a good game barred down by technical issues. So perhaps when the PC version comes out, all the issues will be patched. Not sure if I want to go console or PC though, either way waiting for a sale.

I am seeing it with people calling a game that scores 74 trash (Triforce Heroes). It is really sad.

The problem with Syndicate is that it's 2015 and it was less then a year since Unity. If it been 2019 now I don't think we would have seen as many mixed reviews.Comparing Assassin's creed to other establishes game series just shows how silly all this has become.

Total War for example have about the same amount of games in it's main series as Assassin's Creed does only they released their first one in 2000 while the first AC game came out in 2007. It would be nice if Ubisoft let the series rest a little between main titles or spent some time building on the last one instead of pushing a completely new one out the door only a year later.

Not to mention the 13 spin off games they made in between the main series.

Man, this place is proper bonkers.

The only reviews that matter are bad ones?, and anyone who (dares) to give it a positive review is a shill?

We're through the looking glass people.........

That's is your opinion.

Statistically, something is not right here. That is not an opinion.

Holy shit, now you're just embarrasing.

This is all opinions mate, you might want to accept that. Some like it, some don't. Simple as that.

A lot of people hate it without even playing it because they think it's cool to hate it. "It's Assassin's Creed, it's Ubisoft, yeah it's a shit game."

Expect a 20 line article from Asstaku and an 8 page expose from ***gon about how Syndicate reviewers are all part of #gamergate and therefore need to be sent to concentration camps.

Well damn. I never liked Assassin's Creed but some of the posts here are just embarrassing.

To my surprise none of the highlighted review mentioned carriage chases as the low point. Maybe it's not a low point after all! I'll wait and see.

i adore those 3 and dont much care for the others, so im gonna go with you on this one and pick it up.

I made fun of this game before it released and didn't even expect a review copy. I was wrong to think it was bad, even though Unity was a mess at launch, it had potential. Can't blame folks for being burned on the last one, but man am I glad they seemed to have learned theirs lessons in ways.

thank god

(also I always enjoy your video reviews and can tell you really put a lot into your thoughts and conclusions)

Thanks much man.

The only review where the score doesn't match the content at all is the Forbes one. 7.5 over there and it reads like it should be much lower as a middle of the road score.

Well if they didn't explain their views leading to the 7.5 ya that's wrong. Sometimes it helps to summarize how everything came together at the end and that can help people see how the end score was created. Maybe they just need a summary section.

Oh, that makes sense. In which case I'll apologize for my previous post as I wasn't aware.

I do think the rest of my post does hold some merit though. Reviewer and fan reception IMO seems to indicate general fatigue going on with the franchise in general.

Seems like the sites who are giving low scores are biased and want to get along with the recent bad previews. I think this is a good game overall and deserves to be around 80+ easily.

I was under the same impression. Will check with my own eyes and fingers soon, but I wouldn't be surprised. It's "hip" to bash Assassin's creed lately

It's it my top 4. AC 2, AC Brotherhood, Black Flag, and Syndicate. Feels good!!!!!

My top 4, too! Although I think I'd swap AC2 with AC Unity.

Though I've thoroughly enjoyed all the games for what they are. Really unique experiences.

Also AC Rogue at 1080p 60FPS with all the bells and whistles on a gaming PC is... Eye-opening. To say the least. I'm enjoying it far more than when I tried it on XB360.

Has cash (or whatever) for reviews ever been proven?
I don't think anyone has ever tried to prove it, either through legal action or otherwise.

But we all know that the advertising budget and publisher pressure caused the Gerstmann Kane and Lynch incident. That scandal proved that the publisher had estimated a certain outcome for having paid the press site. Once the outcome was not advantageous, they threatened to pull funding and got Jeff in hot water.

Thats an interesting array, although I don't trust a lot of these reviewers. For example "Ubisoft has tinkered around behind the hood and gotten this series back on the right track. Long may it continue, as Syndicate is the best Assassin's Creed game in a long, long time."
People generally loved Black Flag, which came out only two years ago. There was only one "mainline" AC game since then, which was unity and if you want to throw Rouge in, than 2. This guy is talking like this franchise has been garbage for awhile. I'm not a huge fan, but I know that prior to Unity pretty much all of the games were well liked.
