Somebody tell me why Red Velvet's "Red Dress" has been stuck in my head the last few days. Like what the fnck I was just sitting at the office the other day and I suddenly got the song stuck in my head. It's one of the most random things I've ever experienced tbh.
Maybe goddess Irene is communicating to me somehow??

Listened to 4 Walls several times and I love it. It's right up there with The Red and Reboot for me, though I'd probably rate both ahead of 4 Walls. My favorite songs are probably Papi, Deja Vu, X, Traveler and When I'm Alone. Diamond is the weakest song on the album, but I still like it.
Mirotic, really? I mean, there's nothing wrong with Mirotic, it's just like all the other millions of music videos in a box that SM has put out over the years. 4 Walls far exceeds it imo, and so does other music videos SM has put out this year alone, like Married to the Music and Dumb Dumb.
Hmm. Can't muster as much excitement as I would have a year or two ago. Their chances of making it are smaller than even Rainbows at this point. Hopefully we'll get another Dr. Feel Good or Just Go out of them before they fade into absolute obscurity.

Nah, I saw Juhee. She's been dancing for SM a lot this year (including for f(x) in Japan when they used the eye masks/coverings before) and posted about f(x)'s comeback on Instagram a few days ago.

Hot damn I think 4 walls is definitely the best f(x) single maybe ever! For albums I would put it Red Light > 4 Walls > Pink Tape > Pinocchio
Something about watching it live kinda cracked me up though. I think a combination of the ultra seriousness, that base line timed with the hand thing and squat dance (maybe the bell bottoms and backup dancers too).
Also I can't stop listening to Taeyeon's Gemini for some reason. I think it's something like the actual good Urban Zakapa songs I enjoy.

Does anybody else think IU's "The Shower" sounds too similar to a song from the 90's?
I initially thought it was Donna Lewis' "I Love You Always Forever" but it's not it exactly. There's similarities, but it's mostly how the songs feel similar.

Yubin and Jiyoon get first place in challenge. EXY and Kasper eliminated. Sua vs Yezi (!) for bottom two. Other rappers decide on who to save. Of course they're scared of Yezi so they save Sua. Buuuuuut Yezi gets back in as a winner against other eliminated members and then it'd be 4 battles of 1v1 in the semis.

Much could be talked about this but
- I know TWICE officially debuted within the cut date just 2 weeks ago but it was certainly because the build up until now they were still nominated, no? How genuinely can they be evaluated otherwise?
- Fans will bitch because of voting, it counts between 10%-20% only (good). Yet so many "committees" and "experts" etc., Mnet can still decide the winner at will - or attending award.
- Big Bang for best... dancing group. What?
- Will K-pop GAF have a live commentary during awards?

You point out Twice, but they've already done more promotion than iKON who leads the Best Male Debut. And evaluation doesn't exist in fan voting. No one's listening to the nominee field and going "Hmm, you know, this group I don't follow is objectively better". Edit: Just realised you were referring to how they got nominated in the first place. My point about iKON stands, but Twice has already come twice in 2 music shows (1 being Mnet's "Countdown") and they have good physical sales and decent downloads considering their debut date, so I believe that would all help. I can't even think of another group that could be considered amongst those 5 nominated instead of Twice. The Ark, Sonamoo, DIA, etc haven't done nearly as well as Twice.
Looking at the categories, the thing that SM fans do well is this - if they stan solely a particular group, they will still go ahead and vote for all other SM groups elsewhere in the polls. Case in point - Amber in the lead for Best Dance Performance Solo by a large number of votes (more total votes than f(x)'s number in Best Music Video, but SM also has Shinee in that category and votes are likely getting split). Meanwhile other JYP groups in their categories aren't doing nearly as well as Twice and don't appear to have a "JYP Nation" backing.
Disclaimer: I LOVE EDM and House in particular.

I loved Reboot, but the last third is a bit meh. But this year is being really solid in the albums department, I expect discrepancies at the end of the year when the AOTY talks show up. I'm also looking forward to BEG, but I don't think the album is going to resonate like f(x)'s with my tastes.
That dance section in the gif is great, and it looks great with one shot and the trippy background.
And regarding the Mama awards, I agree that Twice are a bit in the limit, but it makes more sense to be elligible this year than next year, IMO.
Being 2nd on 2 music shows does not means nothing without looking at the entire promotions cycle since debut, which officially was some <2 weeks for Twice for musical promotions (don't know the day, October 20th?). I know not all rookies can have a full year or many months in the bag to have a curriculum to brag about but if you are comparing the music shows ranking, you could also compare about digital sales or album sales, or articles/media, which other groups may have advantage and not only because of being "older" but because some did decently - GFriend for example. While I believe Twice has much potential, likely more than the other candidates on the long run, if you are evaluating everything, Twice is indeed in disadvantage, because in my view any achievements for the rookies award should count only from debut date.
Edit: To be clear, I change my opinion about their nomination and looking at the dates it makes sense, instead next year but is still a disadvantage.
But why wait for an entire promotion cycle when a group is already doing better than others with full, or multiple, promotion cycles in the year? I did mention digital and album sales though. I said Twice is doing well considering their debut date, but yes they'll clearly be at a disadvantage in those categories when the final tally is made. But we're talking about why they're nominated amongst the group of 5. They're there because they're already doing better than some other rookies even in those 2 weeks (e.g. they're at 71,000+ downloads in their debut week on Gaon, and for comparison I couldn't even find Sonamoo's first or latest singles in the top 100 during the week (and after) they were released, and April who might also have been considered got 30k). Twice's album already has over 10k sold (for reference, Lovelyz first album got there after 5 months, but with almost a full year under their belt, the repackage sold another 13k). Twice made the cut off date, and to have any other group with Lovelyz/GFriend/CLC/Oh My Girl would be very suspicious.
And I mentioned the music show stuff because to disregard the attention Twice's been getting on Mnet's own music show as a factor in their MAMA nomination would be silly. (No doubt the fact that the Sixteen tv show was on Mnet also helped though)
