dying light, jc3, halo, evolve, asscreed could all be replaced by better games (some are even goty worthy like pillars)
other than that, solid list
other than that, solid list
Exclusives do weird things to people
There were only 3, maybe 4 good aaa games this year. The rest were either average or trash. There were a few good indie games this year as well. I truly hope next year is better. Too much open world trash this year. Games like just cause 3, batman, ac, and the witcher 3 were all poor.
So... you diss Bloodborne just because (have you even played it?), what, it's often mentionned in Goty threads? And in the same sentence you congratulate CDPR while you say yourself (unless you didn't express it correctly) that you haven't even played it yet?
The complaining about BB itself and those who complain about the whiners that BB isn't more recognized is becoming far more annoying than the complainers themselves at this point.
Yeesh. It's even preemptive and start before any actual whining (which itself is even done in jest at this point).
And yes, this was my complaint about the ones who complain about the complainers.
The Witcher 3 is an open world game with the narrative richness and quality of a linear authored experience. It's the first game to really feel like it has all of the advantages of being open world with few or none of the drawbacks.Too much open world trash this year. 25 spots on the list, they found a place for Evolve to make it, they put Tales from the Borderlands in the top 10, but they couldn't find a spot for Life is Strange
They liked it better?
From what I understand they played it around the office a ton.
I know people have different opinions, but missing Pillars and Lis is odd.
What is it about FO4 that doesn't seem to click with people the way past Bethesda games have? Oblivion, FO3, and Skyrim all dominated GotY lists when they were released. And they all had strong competition as well.

It's the second coming of Dark Souls, which was the second coming.Bloodborne is a great game but you guys always act like its the second coming or something... It's not!
Opinions and all. I didn't enjoy either. Batman was really good at the start but lost its lustre as I progressed. The witcher 3 had poor combat and movement. That completely killed the game for me. Also, I didn't enjoy some of the quests. I haven't finished it and I don't know if I ever will.batman and witcher 3 trash? i thought both games were amazing.
Regression of RPG systems and being technically stagnant from game to game. None of the past problems of the games have been fixed. And they're following up New Vegas which actually gave a shit about choice and consequence, intermingling factions, memorable characters and companions, build specializing, the list goes on.What is it about FO4 that doesn't seem to click with people the way past Bethesda games have? Yeah, I like it but it's not as good as Dark Souls to me.
Fallout 4 being anywhere near the top ten is a travesty. If Batman AK couldn't make the list, neither should Fallout. They are essentially the same type of disappointment. At least Batman tried (and failed) to do something new.

Totally agree. Dark Souls is fun because you can choose a type of build. Bloodborne is fun but it just doesn't have the same options.
Safest list in the universe. 25 spots and not a single (good) surprise pick among them.

Well earned, CDPR earned my respect recently and I am excited to see their next game
I sorta hope so, it's really annoying at this point and threads where it's not #1 get derailed into "Why doesn't this list share the same opinion as mine?!"

To answer your question, no. I got bored and I did sort of have an interest in making levels.I agree with The Witcher 3. One of the best games I've ever played and it has basically set unrealistic expectations for me while playing any other recent open world game (haven't played MGS5 yet though). While I enjoy games like DA:I and Fallout 4, that constant comparison is in my head while playing those games and they pale in comparison to TW3.
Also, Super Mario Maker... is it worth buying if I have zero interest in actually creating my own levels? When it launched, it was a big "meh" for me. I applauded the idea and thought it would've been a perfect launch title for the Wii U to actually give it a chance. All this praise is making me re-think things. Are there enough great levels out there for it to be a good value just as a playing game? Is there some kind of "carrot" to keep chasing while playing these levels?
25 games. And as usual, GS cares very little for Nintendo games. The usual suspects are in there but it seems very little consideration is given to their other standout or under-appreciated gems.
