I have the s6 edge+ and have no issues.S6 or S6 Edge for Gear VR? Does the Edge screen affect it at all?
Planning to get one of the two tomorrow.
Interesting.
Also, I would like to announce that I am now accepting PMs from any members who think they have a good VR porn recommendation.
I have a hard time loading things in Gear VR. I'm trying to watch Cirque du Soleil but a ring keeps spinning forever in the middle of the screen. I can't connect to Oculus Store most of the time. Even videos I've copied to my phone memory don't always work in Oculus Video (a ring keeps spinning when I click "My videos"
Any ideas?
Hahaha, I need to get in on this too. Haven't messed around much with any multiplayer stuff except VR karts. That's amazing. I need to get in on this couch breaking action.
If you'd be so kind, maybe you could aggregate all recomandations you get from fellow Gaffers and send me a PM too? I myself am doing a paper on that very subject and I find it kinda hard to get my hands on some meaty literature.
Thanks
Edit: don't have a GearVR, but gotta be ready when PSVR hits the ground, hope they'll allow us to watch any VR vids from the start.
I also have issues streaming stuff on the s7 edge. Absolutely no problem streaming outside of GearVR. Guessing it's their crap servers.
Jesus Christ it has been two weeks since the expiration of their "15 working days" time frame, in which they should've reviewed my form and get back to me with an email (to get this damn gearvr).
I've contacted them several times now, and they keep saying they're behind with them, because they have too many requests, and will eventually get to mine.
Is that realistic or are they just taking the piss? 2 extra weeks just to review the form, not even shipping the thing.
Maybe they really were caught off guard by the amount of people getting an s6 for this, and yet they also need people with an s7 one, now.
Should I just cave in and buy one? Even though I specifically bought the phone because of the promotion?
Question guys, thinking of picking up an Android for this(after years of Apple stuff) and I was wondering what would be a good phone to pick up. Is the Galaxy S7 worth going for or should I just go for the S6 family?
In terms of porn, there's no beating
virtualrealporn
There's a vr porn thread on 4chan, I er, would not advice looking there, but just getting a subscription.
Heard anything back from them? Just ordered the phone from verizon and it should show up tomorrow. Getting worried about actually getting the gearvr now once i can sign up.
Have had many VR experiences in the past few years, but VR porn on my 7 Edge is scary amazing. It really may ruin my marriage.

Has anyone tried out the Dualshock 4 with the Galaxy S7(or S7 Edge)? I'm curious about the USB adaptor that came with my S7...
I could not wait for my gear vr and got myself a cardboard to try it out with my new s7. The screen door effect was way way less than my only vr experience until then which was Oculus rift 1st developer kit so that was nice to see but it did not seem good enough to watch a movie in the cinema player and also some of the applications I've tried were not all that smooth.
Sorry if it has been asked before but how much better is gear vr than cardboard? Is there a big difference? Is watching Netflix on it something you can do and not be distracted by the vr limitations?

Go on...I prefer American performers to European ones (except Misha Cross and Tiffany Doll), so yes, there is beating VRP.
I don't have any interest in the games, but as someone who watches a huge amount of Netflix and Twitch on my phone (along with some TV network apps like CTV, Global, etc) is it possible (good?) to use this thing just for video watching? Does it only handle special VR video content or can I play anything on it? I have an S6 currently.

Remy Lacroix. In VR. It's kinda amazing.
but there will be a new function inside the Universal Menu that allows you to take screenshots and video. You can read the official documentation of it here. I have just learned though that audio is not captured due to complications with Android, but that they are working on it.
Hopefully they can come up with a solution that includes audio.
Go on...
I would love to see more reports from people with the new phones and how things are going, especially in terms of framerate, battery, and overheating issues (if any).
Got this update today, if they can get audio working that solves all my problems for covering games on YouTube
Even if they can't, I could see a solution being feeding audio through the headphone jack to Audacity, or an external bluetooth device for capturing (ideally you don't want any wires)
No experience prior to my own S7 (Europe so Exynos chip)... It's nice but definitely has hiccups in most games and experiences. In some 360 video apps I have segments not rendered showing as black when moving my head, not even all that fast sometimes. In Smash Hit I get a lot of framerate hiccups, and when things get hectic with lots of glass smashing it really drops. I expected better cos it is still a relatively simple game to render. It looks great when working well, would be nice to have a consistent experience though. I HOPE this is just S7 launch hiccups until the software is all updated to make best use of the new phone...
Just got an S7 with Gear VR. It's my first VR experience and it's just okay. I'm surprised at how much of the area surrounding the lenses I could see, I was expecting the image to fill my FOV, instead it's like I'm in a Big Daddy dive suit from Bioshock looking around. Are the Vive and Rift similar? Doesn't seem like it's as immersive as game journalists claim if that's the case.
Yeah I was a little disappointed too. The minute I saw how small the lenses were I knew it would be quite "tunnel vision" like. My main issue though is how blurry the screen is just off the centre, and this blurry area is really sensitive to movement of the headset. Constantly makes me feel like my vision is gone, like having a big smudge on my glasses just off to the side. Looking at PSVR images of the lenses they look significantly bigger than Gear VR so I'm hoping the experience there is broader with a much broader area where the clarity is always there. Rift and Vive must be likewise. Gear VR does disappoint on this matter.
Absolutely get an S7.
In addition to the improvements (battery life, SD card, waterproofing, etc) the problem with Android ecosystem in general is that devices lose support quickly. I would never recommend anyone buy an Android phone that was a year or older unless they were on a super tight budget, and were buying used to save cash.
