ok result for pokken. I expected a bit more. Will be interesting if it has some legs.

PS4 doing a lot better than expected.

That speaks more to the power of Pokemon than to its viability vs. SFV as a fighting game.

uhh...ok?

Did someone say or even imply "wow, this sure proves how much better pokken is as a fighter"

Usually i'm not that late :p oh well.
That Wii U boost is For the Pokkèn bundle i guess... It's already sold out it too if i'm not wrong, so it should back to <5K next week.

Splatoon still over 10K. :D

Over/Under 250k for Dark Souls 3 next week?

Easy over 250K.

Bloodborne didn't do nearly as well as Dark Souls 2.

I don't get why all guys talk about BloodBorne sales For predict Dark Souls III... I mean sure, very similar games. But IS NOT the same game.

I think Dark Souls III Will easy sell Like the firsts 2 Dark Souls, if not more. ( including Digital, it Will likely outsell both Dark Souls 1 and 2 )

In my town, the only XB1 anything i've seen is in a Tsutaya, advertising a day one console + kinect lol. Joshin, Edion, Yamada got nothing.

Thanks, I expected as much. Given how expensive retail space is in Japan, it would be crazy to keep wasting it on a product that has had virtually no sales since it was introduced. Unless Microsoft was paying for it, which apparently they aren't.

things are different in Tokyo, even a small shop like Big Mario (Nakano) has its section for XBO; Yodobashi Shinjuku has 3 tv for rolling demo (they still have Raiden V if someone is interested)

Shouldn't it be the other way, though? In a place like Tokyo, retail space is/would be at a premium and therefore it would make no sense to waste it on dead wood?

We are talking about a system that sold nation-wide 90 units in one week. One of those stores you mentioned may have sold three or four of those at most. This is the kind of thing you put on a mail order system because it's not feasible to dedicate retail space for it.

Or so I thought. Reality is clearly contradicting that view.

You know Splatoon is successful when it hits 1.3 million and no one even cares to point it out.

I guess Pokken did okay. A little better would've been nice, but that would be a lot to expect from a fighting game.

The Yodobashi and Big Camera around Kyoto Station also have an entire aisle and prominent tv display for XBO. Was very noticeable.

Wow, Gundam Breaker 3 selling more on Vita than on PS4. I don't keep up with Media Create threads, how common is it for the Vita to outsell the PS4 at this point in the cycle? I know the PS4 was struggling in Japan for a while, but assumed that had resolved since there's so many JPN PS4 games being released now (it was pretty much all western games for the first year or so).

Edit:
Just noticed the same thing with Summon Night 6, I guess this is still pretty common.

Well people got annoyed when splatoon's performance was lauded each week lol.

Now no one is really talking about it or posting gifs cause it's expected.

in a big city like Tokyo you have more chances to sell your product
then maybe that XBO on sale at Big Mario is there since launch day :D

but used side, I didn't see a price drop yet, it's just 3-4k yen cheaper than a used PS4

UPDATE : I checked, it's the Titanfall bundle :D

Yes it is not uncommon for Vita games to outsell their PS4 counterparts. Also keep in mind the Vita install base is almost twice as much as the PS4 install base, unlike the west.

I think it would be kinda weird if it wasn't that way. I mean, Setsuna did better on PS4, but there are very few examples of this, though.

With the PS Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X launched in Japan today, Sega has shared the first screenshots from the PlayStation 4 version of the game, which is due out this fall in Japan.

The new main visual has actually already replaced the PS Vita version’s main visual on the Hatsune Miku Sega blog.

I know it got labelled as damage control the other day, but it really does seem like SEGA are almost trying to hurt the Vita release of Diva X lol.

From the moment of announcement of Project Diva X those who wanted to buy it on Vita will buy it, they won't wait for PS4 coming later.

I'm sure.

Doing a massive info dump for Future Tone just before and then a big info dump for Diva X PS4 just after the Vita version has released seems up there with the Dragon Quest Heroes 2 announcement in "surely there's a better time for this" moments, though.

Damn. Well, maybe they will release a full title next time, not one shoved out the door to make the tournament scene and objectively geared towaed the hardcore (or harder core) fans. Friends and I were super interested until the content for the release were announced and now it's a "I'll probably get it later on a discount when they add in a bunch of stuff" or the Y1 re-release (I assume this has to be in the works due to what appears to be abysmal sales WW).

I'm sure.

Might as well try and crater the Vita audience in order to get them to shift to PS4. Who knows how long the Vita will continue to be around and, sadly, I doubt we are going to see a follow-up from Sony. Getting them to switch to PS4 is in the interest of the studio, that way they only need to release one version, specifically the version they will probably only bring West much to the lament of Vita owners in the west.

I understand that 2ds is not counted but are we still sure that the better hw this year will be the 3ds? Honestly O think that once the ps4 heavy hitters will come it will be the ps4 to lead

Maybe there was a better timing but Sony owners have showed Vita is the leading system at almost every multiplatforn release no matter what. Even for Attack on Titan, a typical home console game, Vita leads.

Now, for a game that comes only on Vita at first the loss in sales will be insignificant.

I don't Know if you realize that PS4 so far is down YOY... 3DS too, but last year it sold 2.35 million, while PS4 1.32 million.

Now, those weeks the PS4 is selling a bit more, but so? I don't Know if you remember that last year the PS4 was selling >45K some weeks of March ( and even the worst weeks was over 30K ), and it outsold 3DS by a HUGE margin in March 2015.

Then, what's happen in April? PS4 is dropped Like a rock, and 3DS has stared to beat it easy.

The problem is only One, the first half of the year, like February / March, is ALWAYS a big moment For the Playstation console, not only PS4 but even PSV.

People believe the PS4 basis is really ~25,000...? IS not, that's only How is selling in the Second bigger month of the year For PS4 in Japan ( after December, of Course ), but then we Always saw a massive drop in April and even bigger in May, after the Golden week. Like last year, PS4 is gonna Drop at 10-15K for a while ( maybe even less ) and if Sony don't make a strong Promotion like last year ( digital code for BloodBorne which boosted it's Sales for many weeks ) PS4 will remain in that low Level until The Obon week, or, most likely, until some new Games Release.

Next week is Dark Souls III. I expect a good boost, like 35-40K, but after that, PS4 is gonna Drop like a rock.

Of course, even 3DS will Drop by a good margin in April / May, but as usual, The Drop won't be as big as for PS4, like last year.
For Nintendo, the really strong part of the year is the holidays. Last year, 3DS in Decemer has outsold The PS4 by an abissal margin. I mean, even The Wii U has outsold PS4...

I don't see why PS4 should beat 3DS this holidays as well. Final Fantasy XV? Well a rumor has FFV for September, if is in December, PS4 will most likely outsell 3DS in one week, but that's absolutely all.

Honestly, i think people overestimate how big coul be the PS4 boost with those games... I mean look at Metal Gear Solid V, strong first week, but then PS4 in ONE WEEK is already drop at the same level pre metal gear.

I expect a similar scenario with Persona, Final Fantasy, and company.

Price drop? Will help, but like PS4 even 3DS will have a pricedrop. And like PS4 will have a good line up, 3DS will have a beasting line up, Moon and Sun, Monster Hunter, Yokay Watch 3...

In conclusion. Withouth 2DS, i hardly see PS4 wins. Including 2DS? no way. 3DS is easy gonna win, in my opinion.

P.S
I'm with my Nokia, sorry for so many errors...

I guess. It had already slipped my mind that Attack on Titan was pushed as a PS4 exclusive by all the advertising.

Half of the chart will be new entries, next week.

Also, since Monday 21st was a National Holiday some games might increase (Splatoon, Minecraft, Mario at Rio...)

If I tell you the truth, the ads stands were for DQH2, but they removed the marketing this week, in order to make space for DQJ3.
