"brand new concept" = not the Wii U
Which is peculiar, given that Zelda will be released on both. I really, really hope they don't try another Fischer Price giant screen controller
"brand new concept" = not the Wii U
My guess is something happened. The current date is way too odd or we're just not thinking outside the box on what the NX is. I don't even know. I'm certainly curious about the form factor and price with that release date though.
Respected Japanese paper Nikkei asked Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima what kind of game machine the NX was. At this current stage, Im not able to say, Kimishima replied. However, its not merely the successor to the handheld 3DS or stationary console Wii U. This will be hardware thats been made with a new way of thinking. Id like to announce more particulars regarding its specs and how it works another time this year.
When asked why Nintendo wasnt launching the NX in time for this years big holiday season, Kimishima explained that Nintendo wanted to make sure there were games to go along with the NX.
When the Nikkei asked Kimishima what the likelihood that Wii U production would end, the Nintendo president replied, Since we are making a big shift to the NX, there is that possibility (in the future). Note that the original Japanese text in the Nikkei article are in parenthesis.
I thought CNN would only cover gaming news from E3 since E3 is all that matters?
Wait they covered news from some briefing in Japan?
Yeah, I'm sorry, but that's some pretty major hindsight bias going on there. If the system is supposed to launch this fiscal year (i.e. 5 - 9 months after the event), it makes sense to reveal it at the world's biggest gaming event. Until now, skipping E3 entirely is something that nobody had even considered entertaining because of what a bad idea it would've been.
Wait, just because the NX isn't at E3, they could still show NX titles via trailers, right?
That's... REALLY bad.
The Wii U is sputtering along on life support, and the 3DS isn't doing that much better. They can't just keep coasting like this.
I'm excited now for just how poor the Nintendo E3 Experience is going to be, holy shit
Why hasn't this been posted?

I know it's not much, but definitely sounds like they really want to make sure they have enough games ready to go and that's why it's not releasing this year.

Take a break for a few hours. This thread and the posts give me a headache.
Launches in less than a year and won't be shown at E3?? Huh
Color me confused
BREAKING NEWS from CNN:
Year 1 ≠ launch
And with Nintendo delays idk how confident I can be with this news of games actually getting out on time.
It also troubles me that it seems many 3rd parties are still in NX wtf is this mode. Which makes me go just how far along is the NX hardware. If it's just taken shape recently then wtf were all the devs doing these past few years after their initial 3ds and Wii U games hit?
The Wii U's line up is poor, I won't argue there. It just is.You listed one Wii U game.
Also since we're doing this, I live in Australia, so I get EU localizations. SMT 4-2 is sure to come out this year right?
BREAKING NEWS from CNN:
Salz01 said:E3 gets mentioned by other news channels like CNN, Times, etc... Other gaming conventions really don't get a mention. But I could be wrong. But the fact is E3 is the biggest and other outlets definitely monitor it more.
And just where is that holiday unveiling stuff coming from? The only thing that is known, is that there probably will be a standalone event for NX, nothing about when this is.

Nah. Of course Pachter is plenty wrong. All the shade thrown at him from that thread though has more to do with the mind set of the Nintendo fanboys around these parts.Because he's always been more wrong than right and no matter how many times this comes up there is never really any reason to believe him. He could say something tomorrow and be completely and utterly wrong again. He does this on the side, he's admitted to that, so why we even take his word is beyond me when he doesn't even devote his time on it to better understand it like others I've met on here like Aquamarine and others that used to come around these parts.
Just woke up to all this.
What an absolute shit show. I thought maybe Nintendo had their act together by now. But both NX and Zelda missing holiday shows they're having obvious problems with both.
They're not even showing the system at E3. They have nothing ready to show 9 months before launch.
NX launch is going to be barren.
Where did you get that idea? Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
the minute they show off the new console Wii U sales go from being shit to being literally nothing
Yeah, i guess that's why everyone was ignoring my post about the german Bild-"Zeitung" also reporting about all the things from today. )))Must be photoshopped; read in this thread that mainstream media only cares about E3 and that the internet with its current infrastructure of instant updates and clickbait doesn't exist
Who says the event will be during this time? September is TGS, and Sony probably doing an own even at the same time again, October til December is full holiday hype, the event would be wasted money during that. When I say holiday, I'm talking about that September-December timeframe. That's too late to be unveiling a brand new system and trying to build hype before launch in my opinion.

Just likr they did last year, righMan, hope they bring some crazy Wii U deals to the table because this is going to be a rough holiday season for them otherwise.
