I can't say you'll definitely like it, but this game definitely appeals to people who aren't into typical shooters. I dabble in online shooters from time to time, but the only one to ever hold my attention for more than a week or two was TF2, and Overwatch seems to have the exact same effect on me.

I mean, if you've literally never enjoyed an online shooter this might be a tough sell. But if you're open to the idea and just haven't encountered the right one, Overwatch may be for you.

I didn't have a lot of time to try the Beta out beyond a couple random matches, but I adored the style and character diversity. Figure if I was going to have one online shooter to play, this seems to be a good bet. Was hoping Battlefront filled that slot, but alas.

Yea, I played a ton in the 90's, and enjoy the occasional match of BF over the last few entries.

For what it's worth, this game draws a lot of inspiration from PC shooters in the 90s.

Gamespot did a an interview series on Overwatch and a good chunk of it focused on that point exactly.
