We all assumed we wouldn't see Mario and Pokemon on anything other than Nintendo hardware at one time also.

There's no one with any (past or present) credibility claiming Friday. It was just a date tossed around due to it being 5 years since the first Nintendo Direct. I really doubt Nintendo cares whatsoever about that.

Also I doubt there will be a direct this week. I'd expect the "news" this week to be the reveal date being announced for next week, along with the final console name and maybe some game teases.

I agree. At least from what little we know, I'm only interested in the hybrid if it's really the replacement for the home console.

Very good point. I can dispute that. I just get the sense from how Nintendo talked about SMR on iOS that they are designing heir games around what the HW in and of itself can offer for controls.

I understand. But I have a feeling there is the strong possibility that Nintendo iOS games next year generate almost as much as Wii U, 3ds, and NX software combined in 2017.

I agree too, but to get people to buy this, I imagine they will prefer to not make that clear. Plus if it's a year or more out from NX launch that we'd get more devices, its not even done deal that it would come to pass depending on how NX sells. I'm sure Nintendo would have planned for there to be Virtual Boy revisions and additional HW if that one sold well.

That said, place your expectations low and expect that the meeting will be Kimishima saying, "Oh, we're not talking about the NX today" for the 1600000th time and save yourself this rollercoaster's grief.

There's nothing all that important about an announcement of a reveal date, at least it's not something I'd anticipate beaing teased, but whatever.

I'm not sure why people thought it was going to be announced to day but people such as Emily Rogers didn't say it would be. There's no reason to believe she isn't credible.

Yes, exactly. This week was almost never going to have a reveal or direct. I don't know why people thought that, especially with Emily talking about how this week AND next week will be important.


Expect NEWS this week to be the announcement of the reveal date. Not the reveal. Nothing Toto has said contradicts anything Emily has said.

He said his source on the NX not being announced this week was shaky unlike the Mario one, he said an announcement could still happen this week

Also by announcement I mean the announcement of a direct, I was not expecting to see it until next week
