Skyrim coming to Nintendo Switch [Maybe?]

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Would be interesting if this supports Mods or not.

I guess we won't know whether it's the original or remastered, but we should be able to start making educated guesses when we have more details on Switch's specs.

The fact that a 5 year old Bethesda game is the only thing on a new platform that interests me doesn't seem too exciting. I loved Skyrim but I don't see it as a selling point so long after its release.

If mods are supported then this will become a must buy for me though the chances are low since it's Nintendo. But Skyrim on the go sounds sooooo cool.

Mmmm I already have this in my Steam library with the upgrade, but playing it in bed would be nice. Quadruple dip would be excessive, though.

Me neither.

Sure it was a good game but people are largely over it right now and i've not seen much hype for the remaster. The modding community keeps it very popular on PC though.

A weird game to show your 2017 handheld off with.
I just saw an ad for the remaster on frigging national television last night.

There's plenty of hype.

Nintendo always has some old 3rd party pity-port at launch. We'll see what they get a year or two later.

You realize the Skyrim remaster is getting put out right? There's actual commercials for the thing. If they got that then it's not a pity-port.

advertising your 2017 console using a 2011 game LUL

but in all seriousness skyrim on the go isn't a bad idea

Well if its the remastered version tecnically would be a 2016 game :p
This game is definitely on my must buy radar list for the Switch

I honestly did not expect Bethesda to support NX at all, so this comes as a surprise.

Wouldn't get my hopes up about seeing much else from them, though.

True it's a little different than getting Arkham Knight, but even so, it's an old game that practically everyone has played. Can they get FFXV, RDR2, ME:A? Maybe, but I'm not counting on it.

This is a choice I don't understand. Especially to dedicate time to it.

Many people love Skyrim. But replayability is minimal if they don't allow mods on the Switch so unless the Bethesda mod service will be a thing on there as well there won't be a big market for this and it will be a meaningless release, just to fill the gaps.

I'm more interested in ESVI and I am wondering if that will also be released on the NX. Playing Elder Scrolls on the go without the need to have my laptop with me could be nice.

Skyrim, but no Fallout 4? All that says to me is that they don't have the specs to show a modern game.

It's cool, but if they can't get Bethesda's most recent games on the console no one will care.

If nothing else shown here interests you then this console indeed is not for you, LOL

Why Skyrim and not FO4 GOTY edition?

Skyrim remastered comes out in a few weeks. No one will buy it for NX just like ME3 and Batman AC.
Just seems silly.

already have the (so far) definitive pc version, but i'll absolutely double dip to have this on the go!

Speak for yourself, I'll buy the shit out of this

I don't understand why people think it won't be the remastered version. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Because the Switch is running on mobile hardware? Maybe Bethesda is planning on bringing the original Skyrim to iOS and Android next year and this is an extension of that?

I'm guessing they showed Skyrim because of it's more recognizable than Fallout 4.

This Skyrim is Bethesda's most recent game. This is the enhanced edition.
Yea... but it's the same game as the 5 year old Skyrim, ultimately. No one is going to go apeshit over an old game that MAYBE looks/plays better, it's not going to convince many people to buy the console. Showing that they have the specs to run Fallout 4 and the next Elder Scrolls would have communicated that better.

This seems like the same strategy as when they announced Batman Arkham City for Wii U. "Not the same game, not the same content." I already have Skyrim on my 360, why would I buy it again?

It's just semantics anyway because it may be a version of the remaster content but have different graphic settings, resolution, etc. than the other console versions. So I'm not sure why people are so hung up on that. If I were to guess it won't be called Skyrim Remastered, but will have a special unique name.

Skyrim Switch

Skyrim Go

Skyrim On the Potty

It's going to be almost 5 and a half years old by the time the Switch is out. I mean its a good sign that third parties are trying again short-term, but this game came out a year before the Wii U came out. It's kind of damning how they are marketing a game that came out 2 generations ago in an ironic sense of way.

That being said, I don't think I know of any game on a Nintendo platform with mod-support. That is assuming this one has it.

Best wishes.

Let's not downplay portability, as that is a huge reason why this port is special, and possibly Nintendo's pitch for getting devs to dial back their games graphically for a Switch port

Portable Skyrim has me thinking about buying my first Nintendo consoles in years. That alone has me hyped for the Switch, which I have to say looks promising. Especially for someone like me who travels a lot.
