Being able to play Skyrim on my TV, as well as on the go, on a shitter or while taking a bath is just amazing!
Even if the Switch would end up only with three games, like Mario, Zelda and Skyrim, I'd still be okay with that. Still be worth a purchase for me.

The prospect of playing a portable Skyrim on a Nintendo console is certainty surreal. I'm nearly willing to triple dip just for the experience.

Lol why are some people saying Skyrim is a waste. It wasn't a waste when the remastered version was announced earlier this year and its easily Bethesda's most distinguished title (sorry Fallout 4 I still love you).

Considering how for months now we've talked about how getting lower end ports of PS4/XBO shouldn't be a problem, Skyrim Remastered was a shoe-in for the first Bethesda title.

It's kinda Batman Arkham City Armored Edition all over again...released months late and at full price.

Why is this such a big deal? The game is older than the hills. Next year's iPhone will probably be able to run it (if not this years).

The game is new (if it's the remaster), and it doesn't matter if the current gen iPhones can run it, because it never will be released on an iPhone. So it's a pretty big deal.

I want to see this only because you know with Sakurai every costume color would change the character model to a different race so every playable race from Skyrim is represented.

Seeing how Sakurai would approach a series like Elder Scrolls would probably be pretty amazing in general.

Who wants to play an Elder Scrolls game exclusively with touch controls? I rarely even want to play a platformer exclusively with touch controls, much less a full 3D world.

so uh

While Bethesda's much beloved Skyrim was clearly shown during Nintendo's Switch reveal video, the publisher told us today that it's not officially confirming the game just yet. "We're happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future," a spokesperson said. Skyrim Remastered is set to launch on October 28 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC; perhaps the Switch will receive a version of the Remastered game at launch?

never left the stone age
Skyrim is popular as fuck and people will go crazy having it portable

Seems pretty obvious to me
And it's almost definitely the same build that's releasing on PS4/Xbox One, even if the Switch might not have the same power as the two, it'll still have more juice than a 360, so it'll still be a slightly upgraded version of the game, I reckon. It makes more sense to have it on the Switch than not, especially if it's launch window, which it almost certainly is? I haven't seen any dates.

The Bethesda comment is a little bit strange IMO, but their twitter status clearly says "developers" and "games" -- so I think we can expect quite a bit of support. But then, no games have officially been announced today at all, so this makes sense, but probably they shouldn't have said "we are not confirming anything".

Third parties are getting cold feet before the damn thing is even released, this has to be some sort of record for Nintendo.

I assume they don't want to confirm what, exactly, it is. Skyrim vs. Skyrim Special Edition vs. Skyrim Nintendo Edition or whatever.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Skyrim for the Switch will be a linear action game with light RPG elements that last 7 to 8 hours.

I searched but did not find a dedicated thread. The game is immensely popular and this is its first appearance on a Nintendo console so I thought people may want to discuss it.

Hyped of seeing Platinum Games on board.

This makes absolutely no sense. I'm 100% certain Skyrim will be coming out for the Switch.
It makes no sense if you interpret a non-confirmation as a denial.

But there are other reasons they might not want to confirm at this moment. Like, perhaps, an imminent release of this very game for the not-Switch.

It was a good idea to show Skyrim, just not add the main game in the video. I can't understand why nintendo did not secure a current gen exclusive port that would get their point across better.

This and the fact that Zelda looks pretty much the same as the Wii U version makes me think that the switch is basically a portable wii u, i would not expect much more from it.

Which is ok, i guess, i skipped on the Wii U but this seems like a much better deal, the portability of it is really attractive to me since i travel a lot.

I guess there are dozens of people who still haven't played it, or more likely never played the PC version and want to double dip with a much superior version.

But yeah, the last thing I would do when I get the Switch would be to play Skyrim again.

I think the Switch is such a weird place for games like Skyrim to show up. The argument cant exactly be "get it on the Switch because it will be the ultimate version". That honor clearly goes to PC and the PS4/Xbox one versions. The other argument is the portability, and im not sure Skyrim and other immersive triple-A games really shine there. If one just takes a look at portable gaming in general, the most popular games are usually a bit easier to pick up and play, and easier to digest in the kinds of spaces that you would normally carry around a portable console, with the only exceptions being more ambitious games that are exclusive to that particular handheld, such as certain 3DS games that cannot be played anywhere else anyway. Skyrim is available on so many consoles already, so doesnt really fit the categories i mentioned. I would imagine that the same would be true for any other ambitious home console games that could appear on the Switch while also having ps4/xbox/pc versions.

Bethesda are saying it's not confirmed.
