Nice read, thanks! I actually really came around on Blonde and Endless after I gave them another round of listens. There are many nice, somber moments and cool small ideas sprinkled throughout. Very stripped-down. Those dreamy keys in the skit interludes have been stuck in my head for weeks. Probably liking Endless a bit more.

Ebro getting trolled on twitter by Slim Jimmy is sad as hell. How are you 41 arguing with someone half your age smh.

Trying to take this shit to 400 so we can have a new thread already.

Lately I've been on that new 2 Chainz mixtape nonstop. Those chirp adlibs keep me laughing because he sounds exactly like a bird haha

Underappreciated tbh. Good Drank is one of the best tracks of the year.

I thought blond was boring as fuck. Are people for real about this thing? Channel orange was pretty good but blond is boring trash for people who think there is some deep sonic art element that they have to pretend to understand and appreciate. It's boring as fuck.

How I feel too. There are few good moments, but as people have said they only last like 30 seconds in each song.

Both of them have pretty distinct highs from: "Endless" has Slide on Me, At Your Best, U-N-I-T-Y, Rushes / Rushes Too, and Alabama. "Blonde" has the run of "Nikes", "Blonde", "Pink and White", "Siegfried", "Solo (Reprise)", Pretty Sweet, Godspeed, and Nights.

Their highs are so damn high, and Frank really made something truly special. If 2016 is known as the year American life did the swan dive, it'll at least be remembered well due to Frank, Bowie, and whomever else.

We have the exact same favorite songs though so that's kind of rad.

I've been slipping this year; could someone list all the good albums that came out this year pretty please?

I listed my favorites like a page ago.

...I liked a shit ton of metal this year, but tbh it's just a genre that I don't play as much, I adore it in those niche moments though

I've been slipping this year; could someone list all the good albums that came out this year pretty please?
- Bowie: Blackstar
- Frank: Blonde and Endless
- Danny Brown: Atrocity Exhibition
- Roly Porter: Third Law
- DEAKIN: Sleep Cycle
- Jenny Hval: Blood Bitch
- DJ Koze and co: Pampa Vol. 1
- KFC Murder Chicks: Cortex Rampage
- Nicolas Jaar: Sirens & Nymphs (two different projects)
- Swet Shop Boys: Cashmere
- Vince Staples: Prima Donna
- James Blake: The Color in Anything

That sounds about right, for my favorite albums of the year so far, or at least the ones that are sticking out to me.

didn't really organize my listening habits this year, got kinda out of seeking new music and resorted to old favs for the majority of the year... with that being said here's some that i liked off the top of my head. i'm certain i'm missing some of my favs. also left out stuff that gets mentioned a lot (solange, frank o, tribe, etc)

steven julien - fallen
ambala - volume 1
benedek - coolin
katie gately - color
dk - island of dreams
psychic mirrors - nature of evil
julianna barwick - will
ital tek - hollowed
kero kero bonito
john roberts - plum
tinashe - nightride
nba youngboy - 38 baby
hoops - hoops ep
payroll giovanni - big bossin
kevin gates - islah
everything from nef
oh and the stardew valley soundtrack lol

I've really enjoyed what I've listened to of Outkast so far. Mostly Aquemini, some ATLiens (ATLiens the song has one of the catchiest hooks I can think of). Cool to see Raekwon show up on one of their songs, his verse is really good.

edit: Oh yeah, I've also been listening to some MF DOOM. Started with Mm.. Food and slowly working my way through that. The middle part of that album is weird, there's what feels like 10 minutes of samples from cartoons or something in there.

This a tune. I really like foreign hip hop but just hard to find a source for it. I know quite a few french artists, but I want to find even more shit like eastern european, south american, more french african etc.
Well, here's one of my all-time fave German Rap albums from 2003 (even a few Dilla and Waajeed beats on it):

ASD - Wer Hätte Das Gedacht:

Regarding French Rap, do you know Hamza? EDIT: Wait. Just learned he's from Belgium. Well, it's still French he's rapping in.

Hamza - Zombie Life:

Hamza - H-24 (from last year):
https://play.spotify.com/album/5AwWzveaqlZHWC1MgxcShq

And his new Dancehall-y EP with a Ramriddlz feature:

Hamza - New Casanova:

Been addicted to this since Nibel posted it a few months ago here. First time I really listened to French Rap even though it's always been the most respected next to US Rap in Germany. Generally you knew what German Rap would try to sound like in 2 years if you looked over to France.

Fake-EDIT: Oh, I just remembered I listened to one of Saian Supa Crew's albums in my youth, but that was it.
