As soon as Bryan Cranston's character died, Godzilla 2014 took a nose dive for me.

even he thinks that himself

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/What-Godzilla-Did-Wrong-According-Bryan-Cranston-76627.html

Bryan Cranston said:
"That character dying at that time was a mistake. It was. It was a mistake. I knew it when I read it. When I read it, I said, ‘Oh, page 50, this character - who is the emotional core, the center that was guiding the story up to that point – he dies? What a waste.’ And they kind of dealt with it poorly."

I was worried this would be based on the shitty novel with a similar name. Very happy that's not the case. I will watch the crap out of this.

Ya man Jesus Star Wars 8, this, planet of the apes, spider man, GotG 2. Why so packed?

can't handle some bantz, m8?

I'd love to see something like that. Then again, I'm that one guy that really wanted a Terrence Malik-directed Superman film after the teaser for MoS dropped.

That would be about as far a cry as you could get from Zac Snyder's Man of Steel. And almost certainly an improvement.

Idk why everyone is acting like John's humour sucked.

He really wasn't trying to be hilarious. He was trying to be a character and nails it.

Just bad editing is all.

For me I think it'll work in the context of the film, but for the trailer it felt a tad out of place. But it certainly hasn't ruined my exceedingly-too-high excitement!

Movie has sweet cinematography. Hopefully it isn't wasted.
Right that's all I think about is just how damn beautiful this looks. Exspecially the explosions in the sun glasses.

Little off topic but I have a quick question. Seeing as this is a recent movie thread I will ask it here. Does anyone know a good movie podcast that's talked about latest trailers and news. Kind of like PS I love you but for movies :)

This. Totally agreed. His character is off the hinges and the trailer decided to focus on it. I don't think it paints the whole picture.

Ya I think he will have the same role as Charlie day did in pacific rim. Which were some of my favorite parts, but that's cause I love Charlie day ;)

Trailer has confirmed to me that Vogt-Roberts might just be crazy enough to make that MGS movie he's attached to, anyone who makes an Apocalypse Now mashup and plugs in King fucking Kong as Kurtz is crazy enough to do metal gear right.

This just got me hyped up.

I feel like with this tone, they're easing us into a world of monsters where it's meant to be taken seriously, but not overly serious as was depicted in Godzilla 2014. Could mean a tonal shift for the next two Godzilla movies which will have more Toho monsters.

Trailer was alright but the name could use work. Should have called it "Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie: The Movie".

Looks rad, and I appreciate that it's not being totally po faced and serious after Godzilla turned into a snore fest without Brian Cranston propping everything up. The first trailer really set the drama and stakes up well, but this one shows it's more than a single note generic narrative beat stretched out to monotony.

These kind of big ridiculous blockbusters need that contrasting light and shade, otherwise it all gets bogged down into either shitty melodrama or unengaging farce.

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
I'm super keen on it but the tone of the trailer was all over the place. Is it going to be serious, light hearted, Cheesy?
