Count me in the crowd that always connects consoles via ethernet. Somewhat disappointed if no way to do so with Switch.

5Ghz isn't inherently superior to 2.4. In fact, it's kinda worse on its own, it's just used less so the spectrum is more free.
In my home, I chose to use 2.4 as it actually performs better over a larger distance.
Me and my 5 friends have our PS4 Pros wired. So not everyone. Options are always best.
Nah, both 5 and 2.4 can operate at the same speeds. That's a part of the protocol (a, b, g, n, ac,) which can work on either frequency.ah no, 5ghz is capable of much higher speeds
infact i get 1/2 the speed on the 2.4ghz band than i get on the 5ghz band on my router

Doesn't switch use 5ghz Matt?
I was trying to get him to confirm it though lolAccording to the latest Switch patent, yes.
Periodic reminder to all:
if you're getting a tax refund, file early. The IRS starts processing returns in less than 2 weeks.
And it almost worked.I was trying to get him to confirm it though lol

5 is faster for you because it's a less congested frequency, but if that wasn't a problem for you than 2.4 is actually better at penetrating walls.
If Hori was going to make a Pokken controller, it would probably look like this.
Probably.
Maybe that's compatible with Switch
Yeah, wtf Hori's d-pads are better than Nintendo's / Sony's / Microsoft's, I'm not sure what happened with this one...That d-pad ain't looking too good...
Isn't this pointless with a built-in kickstand? Unless it comes with a charger or something.

Patents cover all bases. They don't necessarily confirm everything (you think switch is gonna have vr too?) and I'm just a skeptical person. I like lots of sources for things. But what's there to confirm? I don't see why it would be in that patent if it wasn't in. It's from last month.
Why the fuck would a portable console have a goddamn ethernet port?
Are you people for real?
Tip: look at the OP again

Tip: look at the OP againThere couldn't possibly be any reason why someone would go with wired ethernet over wifi, none at all.
I don't think so either, but that's likely why there's a patent for it now more so than laterI guess that's true.
And yes, I do think Switch will have VR, but not initially.

Almost no one uses ethernet to play online these days, especially on consoles.

Sorry for my wording with "no way to do so" when I meant port vs. adapter. It's right there in the op
Quality post, keep up the good work! Can't wait to see what you come up with next! Are you people for real?

An arcade Stick ?
That was interesting and I hope that we might get a few fighting games available at launch. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 would be great and Tekken 7 would be glorious.
I don't know if there is a dela between Sony and SNK, but KOF XIV is also welcome.
i already have a Wii U ethernet adapter so i'm set on that. just unplug from the Wii U and plug to the Switch dock.
Anyone know if the Wii/Wii U USB Ethernet adaptor will work with the Switch? I realise that the actual Switch only has USB-C but what about the dock? Does that have standard USB3 or is it only USB-C?
Wow the skin looks like that on the dock??I recreated that leaked Zelda skin.
I can't believe I just scrolled through 17 pages of people going on and on about the ethernet adapter and not one person mentioned this thing at all. Doesn't anyone else find it odd that Hori is selling a charging station for 4 joycons? They seem to think that a lot of people will have multiple Switches at their house if you would need to charge 4 joycons. Either that bodes well for a cheap price as in multiple kids in a family having their own Switch or Nintendo is going to sell them separately like a spare nunchuk. I can't imagine a scenario where you would buy extra of these tiny controllers instead of a pro controller so I think that might be a good indicator of a $199 version of the system.
They should be compatibleHaving to fork out £30 for an Eternet connector again is a joke. No reason for it not being included in the dock. I wonder if Wii/Wii U Ethernet adapters will be compatible?
Can't believe we are finally seeing stuff though. Hype levels reaching critic mass!
Hmm seems like you are right about ac, must have misremembered or misread that. Either way, there is still a need for the 2.4 band due to its distance and penetrating advantages.no they arent i have very little congestion in my area and i can only get half of the speed even right to the router,
and ac only officially supports 5ghz

It's not going to be $199.
Anyways I think the 4 charging joy cons looks cool.

Ah, that explains it.i read more into it and it seems it supports both bands but 5ghz band has twice the speed
