PS4 Tops January 2017 US Sales

You are forgetting that the XBO S had a CPU spec bump.

That's the reason why I mentioned it earlier.

Only difference between the 2 is Sony went for a higher, extra spec bump and MS decided to do the slim and spec bump in one console.
come on man the spec bump in the S is basically a side effect. They had no intentions of boosting it

The PS5 launch 2.5 years from now talking is so legit as my affirmation about PS4 pro exclusive games.

But hey, there is another point of view:

Sony is already releasing games with PS4 PRO as development base. Look at NiOh features. Horizon seems to follow the same way...

So anyone can argue that the game as it showed only runs in PS4 Pro...

lol, no.

So it's XBO S v PS4 Slim/Pro.

So now the spec bump worthy something?

Because if i'm not wrong, the spec bump is there only for the HDR/4K features.

But the vanilla doesn't exists anymore. It was replaced by slim.

Then the real context is xbox one S v PS4+PRO.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
They literally never advertise it and specifically tell people to expect the same performance as the original

OK, so since it wasn't advertised it doesn't count...

Doing it for HDR, 4K is fine. But because it also affected fps it doesn't count for that...Because they didn't advertise it and that was not intentional...

If it's worthy is debatable. But it's still something MS intentionally did to the CPU.

OK, another difference is MS didn't advertise it.

Give it up already.

I see combining the sales of PS4 and PS4 pro together still gets under some people's skin.

I'm really surprised that this debate is still ongoing. The Pro is still fundamentally a PS4. If the Pro is running on a Zen/Vega APU, however, then the Pro is not fundamentally a PS4 (this is just an exaggerated example to make a point, btw).

I'm not saying it doesn't count. I'm saying MS does not intend for people to expect more power from the S

People who see the Pro as next gen are easily satisfied.

I see this thread has now taken its usual nosedive into absurdity.

Anyway, we seem to have skipped past February and went straight to March predictions. Is there anything noteworthy to discuss for February NPD besides For Honor (I think?) and Nioh?

I wouldn't be surprised if Nioh outsells HW2 but I doubt it given that it seems to be undershipped.

For Honor should easily do double both their numbers combined give the reception to it so far.

That's not real is it? With Donald I genuinely can't tell?

The fonts being blurry in the background, but in focus for the tweet text should give it away. Also, take a look at the date stamp (Nov. 27, 2016). There are lots of fake Trump tweets going around (pretty much a meme at this point) and yep this one is fake too.

There is no gen anymore. But PS4 pro is a NEW hardware.

Slim is also a new hardware then. Should we separate its sales from those of the Vanilla version, which is still in circulation?

Also, according to Sony, the release of the Pro does not nullify the concept of generations; I am inclined to trust their words more than I do your perception...

Ha I see it now thanks.

Microsoft was really feeling themselves when they won like 3-4 months when they released the slim lol. Back to business as usual now.

Scorpio

A side effect? It's something MS intentionally did.

Didn't you hear? A tech at Microsoft spilled coffee on the assembly line which made a couple of the parts, right at the spot where the sole printout of the design was located, so they couldn't just make more.

At that point Microsoft had no choice but to modify the Slim architecture.

I swear it to be true, I heard it from my Cousin's Dog's Chew-Toy's former owner, who was a barrista who once sold coffee to Bill Gates himself!

Wow the Scorpio really makes a lot of people go nuts... What the hell are some of these posts I'm reading...

And I'm not even talking about wapplew. I'm convinced he/she is a Sony fan who just posts really ridiculous things posing as an Xbox fan to make Xbox fans look bad.

So people think PS4 Pro shouldn't count as a Ps4?

Some people are desperate to claim a win for MS, like even if they win, even with Scorpio out, they would be close to catch ps4. MS would need 3 more years and for sony to stop the production of PS4s in order to catch up.

I think the internet is giving a really big false impression of how the game will actually do. Going by message boards and twitch only I'd think this game would be a smash hit. The U.K. Charts should shed some light on it. If it's 20-25k debut then I think it's gonna do not very well in NA. But it could turn out to be a hit

I'm not necessarily expecting Nioh to be big hit. But I'm also thinking Halo Wars 2 will have a much more muted launch given the interest I'm seeing around it. Largely speculation and while I wouldn't be surprised if HW2 outsold Nioh, I wouldn't be surprised at the opposite happening either given that at this point, it's really mostly about predicting how much HW2 will decline from HW1.

Yeah, HW2 is a big question mark on sales potential. Halo Wars sold 639K in 5 weeks of the March 2009 NPD and Halo Wars 2 only has one week in February while also being released at a point where the Halo brand is weaker than the peak of 2007 - 2010. ~200K debut would be good for the game.

Nioh will have 3 weeks of tracking so its sales potential for the month is higher than if it was only one week. How well that will do will to be seen, but if consumers are receptive to it then I could see it hitting over 200K.
