SP cutscenes almost crash on me, but manage to get through it The longer I play, the more unstable the game gets. MP runs great, though...weird.

Running the game with every setting maxed, except super sampling which is at 1.25 for my native resolution of 2560*1080. The frame rate hovers between 50-70, which feels pretty smooth on my gsync display.

Specs: Titan XP, 5820k@4.5, 16Gb RAM, installed on an SSD, and running Windows 10.

Yes, same thing as the slider just preset.
That's a shame, a dynamic resolution is already implemented on the console versions and it would have been a great option for smoothing out the bumpy performance in some areas.

For reference, these are my PC specs:

EVGA GTX 1060 6GB, +150 on the core, +500 on memory
i5 2550K overclocked to 4.5 Ghz
8GBs of 1600mhz DDR3
Installed on a Samsung 850 Evo SSD
Windows 10

With everything on HIgh except for Textures and Texture Filtering on Ultra, my framerate was fluctuating around 50-60 with Vsync on Habitat 7. With "auto 900p" on my framerate was a perfect 60, and I certainly wouldn't mind that if the resolution jumped back up to 1080p in less demanding areas.

Latest drivers? I swear people have been having quite a few issues with them, I haven't installed them yet

Are you playing on PC? If so, are you getting a directx error regarding memory?

I'm using the latest driver. Game was just freezing with no errors. Had to end task. The cutscenes finally worked on the third try though so that's good. I found a website that suggested playing the first cutscenes after habitat 7 in a borderless window. Don't know if that works, but might be worth a try for some.

Good, you might wanna check your pagefile settings though, I was having a couple crashes with a directx error related to memory but found a fix. Set your pagefile settings to "system managed" to avoid potential crashes due to lack of memory.

On another note.... I know there is an FOV slider but my problem is that when you pull out your weapons the player model is too close to the screen, if I increase the FOV sure it helps a little but when you holster your weapon and go to "exploration" mode then the FOV is insanely wide for my liking.

Anyone know if there is a command or something just to adjust the camera distance when your weapons are out?

Urgh. I'm still getting the directx driver failure, checked my pagefile and it's system managed. Beyond annoyed as I can't play more than 10 minutes.

Edit: Reinstalled DirectX and vcredist from the installer directory, trying again.

Edit 2: Two minutes into it and crashed. Fuck.

50-60 fps with highest settings except lighting and shadows on high. A little choppy during some cutscenes even though it shows I'm getting a steady 60 fps. It does drop a little to 45 fps for a second when in the nexus and I turn around quick.

Anyone able to access custom controller configs via Steam Shortcut? I am trying this because I would like to map keyboard only functions like direct map access and favorites selection but when I do it the in game camera is totally wonky. Clears up as soon as I exit Steam.

Using the generic gamepad config.

I never got Steam controller support to work. I had to switch to DS4Windows and then get through a weird bug/thing before I got the ability to move without having the camera spaz out.

I don't think this is related, but on the off chance: I'm getting dumped to desktop in almost every multiplayer match. I can play, e.g. ME3 and DAI multi fine, but MEA is fucked up.

There's an FPS limiter in game? I'm using RTSS to cap it to 30.

There is, sort of. On my HDTV (which is what I play the game on), I can choose to output the game at 1080p 30Hz (under Video Output -> Full Screen Resolution), and it runs smoothly with no frame pacing issues that I can see. But I just tested on my monitor, and the only options were 50Hz and 60Hz. So I guess it depends on your display.

Also, there's a bug where it will go back to 60Hz when I restart the game, even though the setting is still on 30hz. I have to toggle it back and forth to get it working again.

Ah, I gotcha. I was hoping they'd be a FPS limiter like in The Witcher 3. But RTSS does the job just fine!

About the FOV I was just thinking that, gun out is too close, holstered is just right as is.

Ok I posted a thread about this and was told to peek in here, hopefully some insight since it sounds like others have had this issue?

Comp: 980ti, 16 gig ram. I7-6600 I think. Windows 10. Latest GeForce drivers

Settings: ultra, 2500x1600

I play fine until the tram in the prologue.

The first time I hit the tram button and it showed it moving and then my pc just completely shut off. No crash just pc off.

Second time I hit tram button and it started the next cut scene and about 5 seconds into it and pc shuts off

Third time I set res at 1080p. Hit tram. Next cut scene plays. Then bridge cut scene. Got about 2 minutes and then bam pc off.

Any thoughts? People have told me that this has happened to some people.

Just started experiencing this, but is it normal to have microstutter while locked at 30 FPS?

I have an OC'd 4.2 Ghz 2500K, RX 480 8GB, and 32GB or RAM.

I need my 1080ti already...

Settled for 1080p for now with my GTX1070 to get into the high fps area.
Gameplay feels so much better with 80+fps

I have a somewhat similar setup and had no crashes so far (~5h sp playtime), but my 1070 is running at 100% load for long periods of time at 1440p (mostly High settings, but for filtering, textures etc.which are at ultra). Never saw a game stressing my 1070 gpu so much and fps can even drop into low 50s during cutscenes (not really a problem imo) which indicates an even higher gpu load and temps tend go up to 71°C there. Which isn't bad per se, but about 6°C hotter then in other games (even watch dogs 2).
Long story short; me:a seems to be extremely demanding at 1440p/60, especially during some cutscenes. Maybe your oc isn't 100% stable and that's causing crashes.

It's funny when people say you dont really need the 1080ti unless its for 4k or its overkill..I dont think so!

After all the effort getting the game to run nicely... turns out its pretty shit. Pockets of decent-ish action gameplay surrounded by some of the most painfully tedious sections Ive ever experienced. After 5 hours of the trial, I care nothing about any of the characters. If anything, I would kinda like to fly the Tempest into the nearest star and kill them all. I feel a bit stupid now for all the time wasted getting the performance up to scratch. I should have just played for a bit with less than perfect performance to see if I actually like it or not.

Refund, here I come.

Anyone experiencing degradaing performance?

The game sstarts at mostly 60 FPS for me, but within an hour I'm going down to the 40's. Restarting the game into the same area, and I'm back to 60 again.

Really weird.

RAM filling up and game has to cache stuff on your hard drive? How is your ram use age when fps start to go down?

I've got a decent framerate going at Ultra but there is a weird issue with the depth of field: the out of focus elements randomly appear super pixellated. Nothing I do with the settings seems to solve this and my Nvidia drivers are up to date.

Since I can't tinker with the individual DOF settings, I'm at a loss how to solve this. Maybe it's a bug but I can't find anything about it online.

I think I attempted seven or eight MP matches last night, I was only able to complete two of them without a crash to desktop. No errors, game just freezes briefly, closes and kicks me to the desktop. I tried rolling my nvidia driver back but it didn't matter.

I get the impression the game could have stood to have had that beta...

Alt-F2 doesn't seem to be bringing up Ansel (and frame rate isn't showing when using the hotkey Alt-F12 either) - do you have to enable these outside of the utility or something?

Someone mentioned an .ini file for Ansel.

I'm curious if anyone else on PC is having any issues? I would have swore my new 1080 ti would blow this thing out the water, but I see stuttering sometimes and last night when I did auto-detect for my graphics it set everything to the lowest setting including the monitor down to auto-900 p. I'm curious if it's the game or the card. I tried a couple of other hard hitters like Dues Ex, Witcher 3 and Doom and didn't notice any issues on those.

For reference this is what I'm working with:

CPU: Intel i7-4790K 4.0 GHz Quad Core Processor
8 gb RAM
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080Ti Founders Edition
I'm using a tv monitor that gets 1080i at 60hz. It's connected to the pc with a DisplayPort to DVI adapter that's connected to a DVI to VGA adapter.

The frames drop mostly when I am fighting and last night when I tried to see if autodetect would work better when I caused an explosion the thing glitched out and there were a bunch of black triangles all over. Looked like a glitch with the fire. I can't tell if the issue is with my setup or the game.

Not weird at all. The game was done by the team that did the MP part of Mass Effect 3. So you knew that the MP would be great, the combat would be good, but the rest of the game... eh?

Yeah, this happened to me for 10 or 12 matches straight and then every other match after that. This is not our computers. It's happening to lots of folks. Typical buggy bioware release.

Is the garbage lighting and overall polish as bad on good rigs as it is on consoles?

The lighting and shadowing are better on PC (as is LOD). Frame rate also has a big impact on presentation and fluidity/repsonsiveness. But that isn't going to change the bugs and animation issues that are baked right into the game at this point.

The lighting certainly isn't improved to pre-release alpha footage levels of complexity if that's what you're asking.

Pretty much no difference, maybe the new driver is even a bit slower in places.

friend played 10 hours in the trial on the driver before the newest one. GTX 1080 SLI, using the battlefield 1 profile (as it didn't have a SLI profile yet). She was getting 60 fps locked with only a few dips, at 4K and most settings Ultra. Then after the retail game came out (and she foolishly upgraded to the new Nvidia Driver)...her performance has tanked, and fallen apart. Now she gets choppy gameplay. It seems like every 10 seconds of running around, fps dip 45-50 fps. Anytime she pans the camera, it become a stuttering mess, and dips in FPS (even as low as 44 fps). Even in interior sections like the ship, where it used to be locked 60 at all times in the trial, it will drop as low as 33fps! It will bounce from 55-60 constantly, but panning or just moving around will cause drops to 40fps, and then sometimes even 33. The whole thing is a mess. The difference between the Trial and the Retail version was Night and Day. Before it ran so smooth, now it's almost unplayable. A complete mess. At first she assumed it was the Nvidia driver that caused this. But since you are saying there isn't a big difference (and she's seen others around the web say the same), she's wondering - could it be on BioWare's end? Did the game get a patch, from the Trial to Day 1 release? Because someone she knows that is having the same issue, supposedly rolled back drivers and still has performance issues. And they suggested that it might be an in game patch, that has caused the massive performance issues. Is that possible?

Tried playing in HDR mode. It looks better but isn't worth the extra input lag it brings to the table on top of having to have Vsync and Triple Buffering enabled for me to get decent performance.

Really weird.

The thing I get on my 970 is some weird ass lag/huge fps drop when I tab out. I have to dig into my task manager to disable nvidia share despite it being disabled in GFE.

I don't get the degradation drop like you do though, mine just has an unstable 40-60+ since I'm still on a 970 and playing at 3440x1440
