Splatoon 2 Testfire Thread: This is a port...able game now

Yup, still hella fun. I will say playing with the gyro in handheld does not work. Feels like I struggle to aim and tilting the screen doesn't help.

I really have no idea how I feel about this game. The gameplay isn't as tight as I expected. Everything feels loose and imprecise. I probably just have to get used to it.

did you up the sensitivity? It's a must imo. Im up at +2 for camera lateral movement and gyro aiming

Re: Everyone complaining about motion controls.

If you give them a chance and actually learn them, they're the best way to play Splatoon (unless you're playing handheld-mode, of course, as the tilting moves your game screen). Just because they're different that what you're used to doesn't make them bad. For real, I'm not kidding. It takes a while to get used to but it's just learning a new input.

I'm totally pumped about trying split Joy-Con motion aiming (right side being the only one you have to move). You guys are making it sound awesome.

Tried all control methods, I think im going to settle on the joycon in each hand.

Feels great and the gyro somehow seems to feel more natural just tilting one hand instead of a whole pad/system.

I could be wrong but this seems like the same demo I played at the hands on event.

Well I had fun. Good to be back at it with Splatoon 2.

Motion controls work best as a way of fine tuning aiming. I'm not a fan of not being able to look and down at all with the thumbsticks.

You probably know this, but when you turn off motion controls it lets you look up and down with the thumbsticks. I think.

Just as an FYI, I'm using my switch in a spot that it typically does not get great wifi reception but I have not noticed any lag or anything of that nature. Very smooth.

Do the majority of people play with motion controls off? Or is it worth keeping it on? Is it better for aiming after some practice? I want to get better. I feel I suck. Lol.

I play with them off, at least I'll try them on when I do play in TV mode at some point.

I'm amazed how well everything went. No dropped connections, every match was smooth as butter. Having gyro in the Pro Controller is the BEST THING EVER. Game's gonna' ruin my life when it launches.

No idea what the fuck is wrong with my Switch. Won't connect to internet, so I removed saved settings, re-connected to router, it said it worked, so I loaded up Splatoon 2 again and no internet connection again.

Played a ton of the first and it's definitely worth trying to give them a shot. It feels natural and you get a bit more precision.

I can't get my brain on board with vertical gyro controls. Anyway to set this up like Zelda where I manual control both vert and horizontal and can slightly move the switch for fine tune aiming?

Turn down the gyro sensitivity?

How the hell do I turn off this nauseating gyro control?

I turned it off in the first one.

I had no problem using the sticks in the first game.

Using gyro for 2-3 min tops is enough to get me to be borderline pukey.

You can change it in settings.

Am I taking crazy pills here or does this game look like utter shit? I can't get over the rough edges. I'm assuming no anti-aliasing has been added in the beta or something?
It's currently 720p no AA on both modes. That might change for release, hopefully.

Doesn't look shit tho, looks smooth and cute imo.

I got errors because of NAT settings, guess my router is badly configured, I'll have to fix it by tomorrow

try this:
I just hooked up my Nintendo lan adapter last night and had these error codes, think it was 0202, once I port forwarded, as noted on Nintendo support site, everything was perfect. I was unable to hit the eshop or complete the test connection until that was done.
UDP 1-65535(pretty sure)

definitely worth keeping them on

pretty sure something like 75%+ of the players in the first game used motion controls

I have died to the map button so many times.
Oh, good. It's not just me. Hit X to jump. Map. Dead. Stupid muscle memory.

I had fun this hour. not really feeling the Dualies, but the vanilla Splattershot was nice. Still no good with a roller, though.
