How did double cross do on the 3ds?

Just tell me the localized release date and I'm there.

This eliminates the two major barriers I had to really getting into the previous games, the lack of portability or the problems that come with portability. I'll definitely be getting this when it comes out.

I don't think a main Monster Hunter game will release on a non-Nintendo console ever again (unless they stop making consoles and / or Capcom goes mobile)

IF Pokemon Stars is also real Switch is going to sell insanely well in Japan this year lol

MK 8DX + Splatoon 2 + MH XX + Pokemon Stars + Mario Odyssey.... lmao
The only problem is going to be getting enough Switches out there for everyone who will want one

Imagine Pokemon Stars being real and Xenoblade 2 *actually* hitting this year...

Surprised this wasn't official sooner or announced in a more bombastic way, but this is great newss for both the Switch and the series. I can't think of a system better suited for it. Proper controls plus portable or docked? Japan'll love it, the West can get more on board.

Being a 3DS game mean I'd expect a damn clean image at a good framerate too, considering the previous 240p ugliness.

People ridicule this reason, but MH was built on co-op word of mouth.

The brand is so big because you could take it on the go. I have always been a big supporter of that.

Splitting the user base makes no sense in that aspect. You don't build a foundation and then split it in half.

How does porting to other systems split the user base? The existing community will play the game on Switch and a new community can grow on other systems. Did Dark Souls pc port split the community?

The reasooning for Capcom would be like for Square Enix, putting (localizing) their game on PS4 because it just sell too good outside of Japan. (= reaching that broader audience)
But let's wait and see, Capcom might make a special "westernized/casualized" MH specifically for the PS4

I think they will take the latter route and make westernized MH for not only PS4 but for PC and Xbox One (or maybe even Switch) that ties with the Hollywood movie that is coming out.

That's the thing Nintendo has built a user base for MH in the West, and they've grown the franchise.

MH is Niche it will sell well to its user base on any platform, but will it grow much if you put it on the PS4 vs only being on the 3DS or Switch.

What an irrelevant comparison. MH was built around co-op Darksouls was not.

If Pokemon Stars is coming they need to be opening extra manufacturung lines. Hell, they probably need to anyway.

Yeah, it seems MH will move to the Switch for its future. The only question left is whether the PS4 will get MH too.

It already got MH Frontier /s

but in all seriousness I think there's high chance we see Westernized MH game that ties with the movie that will come out in every major platform.

People port begging MH on PS4, they fail to realize that MH is more successful on portables than on consoles. Sure, the PS4 might get a mainline port/version (just like the Wii/WiiU got one), but the focus will always be a portable version and right now the Switch is the future in that regard.

So don't expect MH5 on a PS4 exclusively anytime soon.

Okay, now this is a Switch game I can get behind. BotW is still my only Switch game, and this will probably join the ranks whenever it comes.

If the rumour is true that the new one meant to be all new graphics finally that is more current gen standard, then I expect that plus a Steam port too, unless Nintendo paid to make it exclusive to their systems only

For as much as I adored 4 I really didn't like a lot of Gen. But a MH game on Switch is hard to say no to. Maybe I'll like XX better in the end.

Last game in the series I played was MH3U.

I just can't play a game like this on handhelds. It'll be glorious for it to be back on the TV.

...probably would've preferred MH4 though, but whatever. I'll take what I can get at this point.

I played mh3u on both 3DS and WiiU and one of the features was shared save files. It took too long though so it wasn't practical.

The switch though...

All joking aside... THIS IS REALLY GOOD FOR JAPAN. WE NEED TO KEEP JAPAN INTO GAMING. THIS IS GREAT FOR EVERYBODY.

Yes 5, the dude mentioning 6 messed me up 🙃
If the 4chan rumor turns out to be true, maybe MHX will be the Switch series while the numbered MH games end up on PS4 (& maybe XB1).

Though honestly, I hope the numbered games are Switch/PS4.
