To be honest I don't think 100USD more will kill it for me, it will depend on if it really feels like a premium console (included elite controller (?) ) and on first party games to share with my PC.

It is amazing how many posts treat products like they exist in a vacuum.

Well, duh. But according to Sony, 20% of the PlayStation market can afford and is paying $399 for PS4 Pro since last fall. And even that hasn't been enough to get a lot of third party games to take advantage of it, or even the bare minimum of not making some things fucking worse with bad patches. $499 for Scorpio = hello to another two years of vanilla PS4 and Xbox being the footprint for large, expensive games. You can already get better looking, better running versions of all these games on PC.

I can't believe this is E3 and the most talked about thing is the price of a mid-generation refresh console and will most likely continue to be for the next few days no matter what price it is. I'm also always surprised by the level of craziness that goes over people around this period.
It's just so crazy to me that a year after PS4 Pro, they're coming out with a box that'll play the same games but somewhat modestly better. It's just crazy to me. I don't get it. Last year, I thought their strategy was clear: Wait an extra year so they can have the most powerful box for the same price.
I honestly still don't buy it, and I really think it's 399. I also think they VERY much want everyone to expect 499.

This is the most obvious PR move ever. MS want their Sony moment at E3. The price is $399 which is fine, but now they get a double hype cycle. The freak out that it is $499 and then the mic drop moment of $399 announcement.
