Geoff Keighley: Scorpio rumored to cost $499 (he's right, flawless victory)

Saving price for last could mean anything, it could mean they want to show you why the price will be worth it so the blow is softened at the end.

The price will be what it will be, no sense in speculating any further at this point

That's kinda my thought as well. Wouldn't save the price if it was bad news.

You assume that their thinking is like your own. For MS, 499 is not likely "bad news" it probably just makes sense to them. They could easily be saving 499 till the end to let the conference serve as evidence that its a proper price point.

They can't, can they? I guess we will see...

One could make arguments for why $499 is fine: the baseline for console launches has been $399 for over a decade, so it has to increase sometime given inflation, phones are more expensive than ever, etc.

Of course, that completely ignores how the general public would probably react to $499. Which is basically what the company did five years ago.

Footage looks more like 399. :/
They need to show what more first party games look like. Anything that needs to sell the bulk of its copies on PS4/Xbone is going to be like that. A Halo 6 might at least be timed for a release where they think most of the audience would want it on One X.

$500 vs. $400 is part of the reason why PS4 dominated the Xbox One out of the gate. I can't think they've actually forgotten that.

I thought they were saving the price because they want to sell you on the power before saying it's $500 but you guys have a point. If it's $400 that would be quite the ending.

That and Sony's complete domination of mainland Europe plays a huge part. The last I looked the Xbox One still had to outsell the Wii U in Germany. It's the reason the PS3 caught up and passed the 360.

I told you dumb asses.

A premium product is going to be a premium price.

If that's too much, then MS would be more than happy to sell you the cheaper one.

Uhhh. What a dumb move (if true, ofc). It doesn't matter how much more powerful it is compared to the Pro if Microsoft is going to be that dumb. A marginal increase in power at a lower pricetag would be the smart thing.

We'll see, I guess.

Well Sony's always had an advantage in foreign markets. The biggest problem for Xbox this gen is the lost dominance in North America. There are many reasons for it, but $500 vs. $400 definitely played a part.

If it's $500 and they saved it for the end of the conference, LMAO. I'm even starting to worry it's $600.

Would be weird to save a $399 price for the end.

Let's play some kind of game. I don't drink but I will pretend if everyone want's to play a drinking game. I've seen too much of this pirate game and I'm bored watching this. They showed Phil playing with the devs already. They should save this type of thing for the rest of E3 not this stage.

No, that would make sense. Ending with a disappointment would not. Watch them end with "we will talk about the price later this year, at Gamescom". :D

This hasn't been a bad conference at all from a normal perspective, but from a perspective of 'Why should I buy an Xbox One X rather than an Xbox' it has been at total failure. The vast majority of these games don't look like they're pushing the One X at all.

Given that the price will be fascinating.

I know/thought MS understand that the cost of entry is really important. That's why the Core and Elite were genius (imo). I wonder how these two strands will be received by consumers. Hmm.

500 bucks doesn't sound too much to me. But, of course, it's dependent on games. And games depend on the uptake. Double hmm.

With what they have shown so far it better be $399. I see nothing that compelling yet to shell out $500.
