Ubisoft has some photos up on their website. I love this one of Shani

Honestly what was shown in that 2009 proof of concept leak is what I wanted: -

This re-reveal for me sold me on the game, I did not care about it at all before this presentation.
Yeah, nobody makes intimate, story-focused singleplayer games anymore. What a ridiculous expectation in 2017.
This is similar to where I'm at. The trailer was good. It's Ancel so i think the game will be too.Yep. As someone who puts BGE on a very high pedestal - one of my favorite games, if admittedly a fair bit outside my Top Ten All Time - this is a huge disappointment.
Don't get me wrong; great trailer! But not for a sequel to BGE.
Ancel is doing a trailer breakdown on IGN right now.
I'm liking the idea of players having their own ship and crew. I wonder if the game will ultimately match his ambitions? If so... 2025 release? Lol
Looks like some devs are Fifth Element fans
Could someone photoshop Jade and the new Monkey guy, please?
Wasn't shani Jade's code name in 1 as well?
I actually can't believe how many people were impressed by this.
I'm gutted. I love Michel Ancel and Ubisoft Montpellier, but this isn't what I expected at all.
The first game was such a gem - with a beautiful stylized art direction and whimsy that fit within that time period so well. Jade and Pey'j were terrific characters, and all the prior mentions of BG&E2 made it seem like we were getting a sequel. Instead we have some fuck-laden game with jiggle physics.
What has been shown so far isn't at all what I wanted on any level. The should call this Beyond Worse and Evil.
In their defense, the sequel I wanted - something more akin to Ratchet & Clank or Psychonauts 2 - probably would perform well in today's market. Maybe they feel that had to make a change to be relevant. Hopefully a new generation of fans can love it, but for now it would appear I'm out.
Sony better pick me up from this low.

Presumably the woman at the end is Jade's mother. The original game did hint at a backstory for her parents so it makes sense that this is a prequel.
Wasn't shani Jade's code name in 1 as well?
Ah yeah I think you're right.I believe it was Shauni... At least in the spanish dub

Man, this is some monkey's paw shit. Yeah okay we'll finally give you a BG&E game, but it's a prequel, none of the old characters return, and is now 1000% edgier.
Great.

Very early insight but so far doesn't sound like it'll have a tight SP campaign. Still hyped though. Love Sci-fi.
It's still not an unreasonable expectation - especially given the game in question - and assuming it would have a multiplayer world with a story driven portion as well. If so much is changed, why then even call it BG&E? Just to cash in on the old fans' hopes and dreams? Why create such a story driven, linear progression trailer, if the game is not going to be anything like that? While I assume this is sarcasm... I mean this is getting pretty true.
Sorry but that was an horrible re-reveal, I don't like any of the details we got on it, this isn't what we've been waiting for at all.

Did you hear about the move away from the semblance of realism that Ubisoft creative basically forced in every AAA game of theirs?
lmao
ok
Swearing matched the tone of this trailer perfectly.Despite the wonderful trailer, I somehow have very low hopes for this after reading more about it.
Also yeah, swearing did seem somehow tonally mismatched.
lmao
ok
I trust Ancel to build a narrative I can enjoy and lace his unique kind of charm throughout.
Also wouldn't be surprised at all if he's taking a stab at an open world game with space as the filler content and planets as the backbone for narrative as a general rule, but layering drop in/drop out co-op as part of the campaign. That'd be a really interesting idea.
Lastly, open world doesn't mean a lack of tight SP campaign. Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best stories told in video games and it's in an open world framework.
