A look at Youtube trailer views for E3 2017

GAF's going to be way off the mark on Day's Gone. It'll be big regardless of reception here.

Spiderman is going to be a monster.

Man, are zombies still THAT big of a thing? With everyone talking about how derivative Day's Gone is, you'd think there be less excitement over it
Yes also, Gaf is a bubble, it's views don't reflect gamers as a whole.

Or else every JRPG would be out selling COD if that was the case.

Spiderman is more popular than Batman, Avengers & Superman. COMBINED.

COD having the highest like\views ratio is...something. Is it because people don't watch the same trailer more than once unlike other games?

Monster Hunter barely beating out The Crew 2. Sounds about right.

The game is actually quite high if you count the Japanese trailer.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
He is?

Spiderman is the one Super Hero (especially movies) that I can't stand.

I love Insomniac though, so I'll end up getting it.

Spiderman makes more money and sells more merchandise than several other big name superheroes combined. He is incredibly popular and has been for a long time now.

The God of War trailer is a masterpiece. One of my all time faves.

Yeah, as somebody who played the first game and has subsequently never had any interest in the franchise since, this reboot (or whatever you want to call it) is hot hot fire. Can't get over how good it looks.

Gran Turismo not even in top 50? they'll be lucky to break 3 mil. sold

I can't even find the trailer on the PlayStation EU channel, the strongest market for it : |

GT is a strange beast because they are uploading videos first on a separate GT channel, which is not so widely known. So the trailer has 188.000 views there. Then you have the PlayStation US channel and it's quite bad with less than 88.000 views, compared to 3 213 369 views for Forza 7.

Sony about to get that bread with that set of potential monster franchises lined up.

And Insomniac is poised to make their most successful game yet, exciting!

I really don't understand what people see in Days Gone. Is it just popular because Sony's trying to hype it up or are people genuinely interested in it? It looks like the most run-of-the-mill game shown at Sony's conference. Pretty much the whole gameplay demo was just generic open world driving, QTE punching (all scripted, you aren't choosing which punches you're doing), and baby's first stealth game. It didn't even look good last year.

You may as well have asked what people see in every single first-person shooter released since Quake 2.
Who knows?

Regardless, I am mildly interested in Days Gone. If nothing else, it certainly looks pretty.

Was this always the case? He was always my favorite solo superhero growing up, and I had essentially all of the comics aside from the first few original prints (X-Men being my favorite team comic). Might want to go back thirty and fifty years.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 trailer wasn't available in my country for awhile until Ubisoft US dropped it, now i cant find the EU version which they may have removed? Numbers just seem shockingly low for the amount of twitter reactions it got.

It looks like any other zombie game you'd find on steam for cheap.

Are you two trolling?

It's worth noting that someone mentioned in the other trailer views thread that the F7's trailer was boosted. Basically if you see any trailers in the OP that have a 0.XX views/like ratio, they were likely boosted.

I get the impression both Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade 2 may land with a thud. Not on the chart (putting them below the Yoshi teaser and the Skyrim port), and regardless of how good they may or may not turn out to be, a discernible lack of enthusiasm from the established niche audiences that are the core of their target market.

They were both known quantities coming into the show instead of new announcements, to be fair, but we hadn't seen much of anything about them prior to E3 (and were all waiting on another sign of that 2017 commitment for Xenoblade), so I think their middling performance here is still an indicator.

Days Gone being up there is definitely shocking to me. I guess zombie fatigue for games is about as relevant as superhero fatigue for film.

That's basically TLOU "on steroids", which was already a pretty good game "as is". And now imagine this as open-world game with dynamic weather, different routes, etc.

So, no wonder why Days Gone is pretty popular.

No doubt they market researched the shit out of Days Gone.

And to be fair, like 5-10 years ago when I thought about my ideal Zombie game it was an open-word, realistic, thirdperson shooter with good graphics. There have been a lot of zombie games but nothing that ticked all those boxes.

Spiderman got a lot of views from the Marvel channel, which has a lot of non gamers that follow it.

Exactly. Why wouldn't the Spider-Man game be promoted in the same channel that's promoting a soon to be released film of the same character? It really does need to show something though that separates it more from the Arkham games. While the game looked fun enough, it really just looked like a reskin for the most part.

People like to think the zombi genre is over saturated but its not. There has never been a gritty, open world zombie game that also has a strong story focus.

For Mario + Rabbids, there's also the Nintendo upload the has about 350k views as well, which puts Mario + Rabbids close to 3.6 million views atm.

Same for Skyrim: it also has a video on the Nintendo channel that's over 400k atm.

The emergent gameplay of Days Gone is going to be really appealing to people, especially once Twitch streamers start playing it. It's gonna be big.

Considering Halo wars 2 has several trailers that surpassed 5 mio views, I am not sure if the views mean much, when it comes to sales. I think it's just one aspect of many, so it can't stand by itself, but good reviews and impressions all around as well as making people aware and interested are all contributors to games selling well.

BTW I am very surprised that Anthem isn't the most viewed, as it was, for me, out of all the trailers shown the most impressive and interesting one. It just tells you how much awareness there is around a sony conference.

Nice to see some Gaffers finally come around on Days Gone. I've been saying for months that this community has been way off regarding that one. It's going to be a very successful title.
