Odd. Whenever I see PUBG I see a game I played over a year ago, H1Z1.
I thought those two and DayZ were all pretty much clones of each other

Is this Bluehole's heel turn?
Soooo they are annoyed an idea they copied is being copied after the idea they copied is becoming popular?
He added, "We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we don't feel that it's right."
Is this Bluehole's heel turn?
Yurp.
Everyone's about to try and tackle the battle royale formula.
I smell a Wildlands expansion actually. It's gonna sell all the copies.
Using another games name that you helped work on for your own success is overboard. Epic is too good of a company to be this creatively brokeJust gonna give my thoughts like I did in the other thread.
They should have known this was coming. There are going to be MANY clones and straight up ripoffs. Especially on STEAM.
But them getting upset that they were referenced and contemplating action? I don't know. That's a bit overboard imo.
If roles were reversed. Everyone would rightfully be up in arms if Epic came out and said this shit.
Ah yes because Bluehole invented the concept of Battle Royale
I think it stems from the similarities like
bus vs plane
lobby before the match
What others are there?
What did they expect? This happens all the time. Someone has a good idea, others try to imitate and maybe build on it.
I do feel that Epic using the PUGB name without permission probably isn't the best thing to do but everything else just seems like someone scared something better might come along.
You guys realize the reason they're concerned is because Epic owns the Unreal Engine and is a partner with Bluehole right? It's not just some random team copying.
The cracks are beginning to show.Honestly, I don't get it. What the hell is their problem?
Not exactly a surprise is it? The entire history of video games is built on borrowed / tweaked / refined ideas.
They actually will when it releases free to everyone soon and they update it with more content. This is just the beginning.Good thing Fortnites mode is very meh compared to PUBG, they don't have much to worry about IMO
Oh noes, someone is mentioning our game!
Look, usually game companies don't mention the competitor's names because they want to avoid comparisons, or feel it's unneeded, or have another marketing strategy. Not because it's illegal or anything like that.
But it's perfectly ok to actually do it. If a game dev want to be honest and say "our game is kind of like Civilization, but with tactical battles and with more differentiated nations" is his marketing decision. Could be good, could be bad.
spawn drop off from a plane is not new, was in Battlefield and probably others I can't think off the top of my head ages ago
PlayerUnknown helped develop that game IIRC. And the original ARMA mod.
Medal of Honor airborne.spawn drop off from a plane is not new, was in Battlefield and probably others I can't think off the top of my head ages ago
They should definitely be worried because Fortnite will be #1 on steam sales in no time.
PUBG DETHRONED
