I love how the B3Z review is included, amazing.
ACG's given reason is kinda headscratcher though, basically the combat is not survival horror enough and bosses being killable by your arsenal is an immersion-breaker.

My takeaway was that he said the combat feels loose, close encounters are sloppy, and these elements combined lessen the tension that should be there. Seems like the carefully crafted encounters of the first game might be lacking here. Everything else sounded better.
This is not directed by Shinji Mikami? Yet this is actually better than the first game? How?
Yeah no there were some pretty bullshit encounters.

Last time Mikami decided not to direct a sequel and instead let someone else from his team who had potential do it, we got Resident Evil 2 and Hideki Kamiya.
People are really not giving this John Johanas dude a fair chance. Mikami knows what he's doing.
Probably.
can you please give us a quick review yourself? what mode did you complete the game on?
I did notice you said things were missing from the game yesterday which are actually in the game so maybe you played on a certain mode and those options are removed?
So you have not actually played it? This is not about bashing you or something, just looking for opinions from GAFers (who I usually trust more).
And why is ACG's carrying the most weight? Not knocking you, just curious.

About what I expected critically. The game looked quite unimpressive from the streams I've watched. Gonna pass on this one and wait for Mikami's next game.
Technically the last time he did this was when he let Shu Takumi direct Dino Crisis 2(since Mikami directed the original), who would then go on to create the Ace Attorney series and Ghost Trick. Mikami has good experience doing this kind of thing.
Expected higher, will wait for sale.

Were you expecting Breath of the Wild scores? An 80+ average is fantastic, doubly so for a survival horror game.Expected higher, will wait for sale.

Lol is this that 1-8.5 review garbage mentality that people were talking about?
More like they did a quick glance and saw a few 7's and said "Ok,i'll pass".
This is normal when a game was never on your radar to begin with and you just decide to lurk a little in the review thread.
You scroll down pretty fast and if you see 9 and 10s the game pick ups your attention, otherwise you write a random comment and leave.
Not trying to be a Mod here. But do shit talk like this perfectly normal in neogaf nowadays?
Those mention of an open-world really concern me, otherwise it sounds great. I actually like the fact that they seem to be aiming closer to RE4.

Any particular reason why the very same critics couldn't appreciate the original title? So good to see the sequel has delivered!
