Damn what in the hell.
So Hennig is out?
Unbelievable, Star Wars is as strong as ever in the film department and we barely got one decent game yet and now this, WTF?
Where's my X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (VR) game? Where's my Jedi Knight game?
Sony at least so far has been blessed along with Nintendo to have most people anticipate their SP offerings.
But there is no idea how long that will last. If you're not Uncharted, GOW, Spiderman etc it's hard to tell. But it seems Sony is decent enough with budgeting their first party studio games.
But hell even UC4 had a content roadmap. That was a GAAS service as well.
Your move, Sony. Turn The Last of Us 2 into a GaaS game. Let's get this over with so I can wallow in the memories of what this industry used to be.
Considering that both TLOU and Uncharted 4 were GaaS, TLOU2 being GaaS wouldn't be shocking. You think this many assets and continue to add new ones for shits and giggles:Your move, Sony. Game development has been taking longer this gen. They should have never gave EA the Star Wars game licences
1 freaking game in 4 years since the announcement, they should have put out 2 by now at least with the 3rd being Battlefront 2 this year
Not only that we havent seen anything else barely what a joke EA
WTF is this new GaaS thing i read everywhere on GAF all of the sudden?
Google Search only bought Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
.Patrick Söderlund said:Our Visceral studio has been developing an action-adventure title set in the Star Wars universe. In its current form, it was shaping up to be a story-based, linear adventure game
It already looks like such a mistake that EA has the exclusive Star Wars license.

Was she game director on Ragtag? I thought she was just the narrative lead like on Uncharted.
Bullfrog, Westwood, Visceral, Maxis, Mythic, Origin, Pandemic, all dead because of EA. I'm honestly feeling that Bioware might be the next big one from them to be killed off. DICE is basically safe from everything.
You know they did all the space combat stuff for Battlefront 2, right?
There is a big difference between what they did with Uncharted 4 and TLOU and an actual GaaS game like Destiny. Its pretty obvious.Considering that both TLOU and Uncharted 4 were GaaS, TLOU2 being GaaS wouldn't be shocking. You think this many assets and continue to add new ones for shits and giggles:
10 years deal signed in late 2013.
So 2024.
They did, and it failed. Can Didney just make a game studio already
AAA single players games are basically dead, right?
...and closely tracking fundamental shifts in the marketplace.

How daft can you be to think a fucking single player Star Wars game won't sell in this age???? Episode 7 grossed almost a billion in domestic for fuck sake.

I bet EA was the worst decision Insomniac made, and I'm so glad they didn't have some long term obligations with them. Next up Bioware.
What is Respawn doing with them now? They are just partners and not owned right?
Cool. So we might actually get a SP Star Wars game in time for the next trilogy.
Needs some GaaS hovering in the sky
ALL of those are examples of GAAS!There is a big difference between what they did with Uncharted 4 and TLOU and an actual GaaS game like Destiny. Its pretty obvious.
...and closely tracking fundamental shifts in the marketplace. It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design.

Games as a service.
Thanks guys. How on earth is Mario Kart considered part of that Category?Games As A Service. Games that operate as platforms, release DLC and microtransactions, and iterate on things like game modes and content over time versus releasing sequels and spin offs. Think PUBG, Rocket League, Overwatch.
Ah shit I forgot respawn was working on a damn star wars game
I guess that means titanfall 3 (if ever it had a shot at being made) is a definite no in the next few years then. Damn
I think people "anticipate" good SP offerings on all fronts, it's just a matter of publishers being willing to accept the return they'll get. For better and for worse, EA wants continued revenue from their products more than one-time sales.
