I wonder what the surprises could be? Bryan Paul from PSVR2 without Parole also said there's a lot of surprises he's heard about,

My guess? The Biggest Surprise will be Astrobot Rescue Mission for PSVR2 ported from PSVR, included for free with every PSVR2 headset, with a few tweaks/surprises for the port that take advantage of the PSVR2 hardware.

Can't be a Sony launch witout Astro in some fashion

Oh god. Surprises could mean anything.

I'm guessing some existing game is gonna get a day 1 patch to support it?

This is what I think, and my guess is Astro. If it's not I'll definitely be disappointed.

I don't think we'll get any major new VR announcements of games that haven't already been released somewhere else, though. No major Sony first party exclusives

Jimbo sure hates to talk about PlayStation stuff huh? Why have this surprise still hidden? Why not just release the information now?

PS VR2 Without Parole:

"I don't want to break embargo here, but the emails have been rolling in for PS VR 2 games with review keys constantly and there has been some surprises in there. And I think we'll continue to see some surprises over the course of the next couple of weeks.

So whether those will be launch games or launch window games or soon after launch games, the reveals for PS VR 2 are not done yet.

"One of the games we were talking about earlier today, like I was not expecting that at all for reasons I won't get into because I don't want to give it away, but yeah, we've had some surprises lately."

This makes it clear that more games are coming soon that Sony hasn't revealed yet. At least one of them is a big surprise that they weren't expecting (makes me thing it's another company's exclusive, e.g., Half Life Alyx, or a game that no one expected was in development by).

Either way, those games already have review codes, means they are close to completion and release.

I’m usually an early adopter with this kind of stuff, but this time around it feels right to hold off a little and see how things go. I have a feeling I might be able to pick this up in a few months for less than the current exorbitant price, and by then we’ll have a better idea of what new AAA games will be in the pipeline to justify the purchase. Right now though? I’m happy to wait.

They wouldn’t be so casual about this if it was Alyx. Sony would have certainly promoted any big games in the preorder phase.

i really wanted to try this but it priced almost the same as my monthly salary in my country
What kinda of price is that? It's way less than Half of my net salary here.

I know Brasil & other countries have insane prices on tech & low salaries in general.

I too believe that Alyx is a big enough title to be one of the Holiday 2023 games (if it is coming). Was just sharing an example of a game that people wouldn't expect (e.g., Alyx is a Steam exclusive as of now).

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

my monthly salary is around 3900+
PSVR 2 with horizon bundle is around 3000 (10x of a 70 dollar game), without bundle is 2800

i can afford it, but its still quite a big amount to consider.

I hold off for now. I expect games to be second rate again, save for a few. I bought PS VR for half the price about a year after launch. It was fun to hook up from time to time but its the games, they are mostly low budget trash.

There are lots of reasons.

1. They aren't trying to influence regulators as they make decisions that can be influenced by public perception. If public perception is that PlayStation is straight dominating the scene, it makes the ABK M&A much more likely.

2. Managing expectations, especially when it comes to setting timelines for things and providing people with a good work life balance. You really don't see Nintendo announce much well in advance either. So this is really a page out of their book.

3. They don't really have to. Look at GT7 VR mode. Not something they really talked about until they had to. Why announce it early and then have people need to crunch if it isn't ready on time? Then you have to delay which can lower expectations and create concern.

Yeah, this isn’t a credible reason. They literally just announced record PS5 sales, record revenues, record software sales and increased marketshare in the biggest game sales region (North America)

PSVR 2 news doesn’t even register at this scale. Especially since it’s a market their major competitor has publicly bowed out of.

I don’t think there’s any megaton left, but pleasant surprises - such as a pack in game or demo - would be really welcome. Possibly one to get some more news cycles going.

There are things they can't hide because they are a publicly traded company, but they don't need to spike the football while this is happening.

There are games that already have PSN trophy data but aren’t included in the launch window announcement.

My guess is they’ll go straight on PS+ Extra which goes live the day before PSVR2’s launch.

It’s a stretch, but the developers of Firewall Ultra are being VERY vocal at the moment, despite their launch seemingly being a way out. Perhaps it’s coming sooner than we’re being led to believe?

While ports of Astro / B&T would be awesome, I fear we are setting ourselves up disappointment hoping for them.

I'd like to see a follow-up to Playstation VR Worlds. Short and sweet but I enjoyed all of the individual components. The london heist thing was what sold me on VR to be honest. From that moment onward I kinda knew we were going to get something special eventually (on the level of HLA) once companies started making a bloody effort.
