I hope that Fishburne get a fat check for this. I am curious of one thing. Will they kill him fast, make him a mysterious man for one season or more, or be there for one episode and disappear? I also think that as long as the writers are not against him, he will steal the show when he will be on screen.

Well, if they try and follow the books, killing him off in just one season isn’t viable.

They killed Eskel. And Fishburne will cost more and probably have more say on the show due to his stature. He probably asked about how long he would need to stay and what will he be used for. So either guest star, semi antagonist, or cameos with one big scene or two. With the cast being already "large" with a trio of main characters, and their friends like Triss already there. What else can he do? He can't take Jaskier place as Geralt best friend. So the options are limited.

It could have been good. Even great, if they wanted to and accepted to follow the books a little more. But they really don't want that.

The show is not cancelled?

Though I don't understand why all these producers can't see that people actually want the content that is either unique and fully follows the original.

It's ludicruous they're calling a show made by people who shit on The Witcher property and who drove away the only actor on the show who wanted it to be good, a family.... Seems to me that everyone working on The Witcher would rather do something else.

Yeah, but Eskel is barely in the books, Regis is literally a main party member up until the last novel. Maybe they got some leeway in the budget with Cavil leaving, either way they're just polishing a turd at this point.

Did you ever heard of this saying before: better reign in hell than serve in heaven?
I honestly think that at this point they want to do their thing more than have any respect for the books. You should be right. But I fear that you will be wrong.

First i've seen that the show was coming back, race swapping established character's of any IP or franchise will never work, and i liked Morpheus and other films and shows Laurrence Fishbourne has been in, make new character's,

This just tells me the show won't get any better and we know how the writing is going to be, and no one cared about season 3 in the end, people just stopped watching it.

When it's a black man playing a white character it's a problem. Where were you all in the Alien thread with Vazquez being played by someone who is not Latina? Oh wait that's "different" right? I'm ready for the goal post moving and hair splitting.
I am not sure if this is meant seriously or not

but if it is

what a dumbfuck of a post

Very serious you can expound on your feelings I'm all ears.

Vazquez is a character, not a person. If the actress who played her wasn't Latina, that's fine as long as she can pass for Latina. That would be the argument, just as it's fine for a Latina actor to play the part of a white person. As long as everyone is able to get roles, it's fine for anyone to be cast for any role, as long as it makes sense. Just as it's fine for a gay person to play a straight person, or a straight person to play a gay person, or an Australian actor to play an American, or an American actor to play an Australian, etc. Laurence Fishburne would have to be able to look like a white character for this to be the same thing. He is a good actor, but I don't think he can manage that one.

Yep, also the marines in Aliens were mixed races anyway and no one cared about that or Vasquez until recently because the story and acting was so good and Vasquez wasn't an established character of Aliens, she was a new one that no one knew about and i've watched it since 1986 and only heard this compliant nowadays, now if they swapped Ripley!, Aliens wouldn't have been anywhere near as good or iconic or as successful.

Are we still going on about vasquez? Jesus christ. Literal 5 mins Wikipedia sesrching:

Vasquez is of Galician origion
Vasquez means "[son] of Vasco", and Vasco comes from the pre-Roman latinized name "Velascus", a name of uncertain origin and meaning, but probably Basque or Iberian. In Galician-Portuguese the pre-Roman name becomes Velascu > Veascu > Vaasco > Vasco.

In some Spanish-speaking countries, families of non-Iberian ancestry have also adopted this surname. In Colombia and Argentina, there have been instances of "Watzke" and "Watzka" families, of German-Czech descent, Hispanicizing their surnames to "Vasquez". The surname was chosen as being the one most closely resembling their former name; in Italy a similar phenomenon was noted with some "Watzke" changing to "Vasco".
Galicians (Galician: galegos [ɡaˈleɣʊs]; Spanish: gallegos [ɡaˈʎeɣos]) are a Romance-speaking Iberian ethnic group[7] from northwestern Spain

So realistically, in 150 years, its highly possible for her race to be mixed, it could be her family changed thier last name from another language, could be they are from any of the predominantly white countires that the name or background for the name comes from

The very first image for Galicians on Wikipedia is of 2 very white people playing bagpipes

I completely agree with this.

But could you imagine Tropic Thunder being made today?

Can you link to the thread please? I am curious. As for black men taking white men places. I liked Elba as Heimdall. Who complained about it? When I saw Fishburne announced for the Witcher I got the stupid idea that they wanted Morgan Freeman but had to find a substitute. Nobody here have a problem with the actor, but it was more about the showrunners.

All the gender swapping complaints should be void when the genderswapped actor is of Fishburne's stature.
Who's gonna cry that the great actor they choose for a role isn't the right colour ?
Someone who just wants to cry, that's who.

As someone who enjoyed Season 1 & 2, can you guys briefly explain why season 3 was so bad? Haven't watched it yet, but hearing how shitty it is makes me want to not even waste anymore time on this show.

A TON of people complained about Elba as Heimdall. Still today people say he was miscast. Because he isn't white (Heimdall is said to be the whitest in Asgard... Though I took that to mean purest of heart)

Thank god I was not into US forums back in the day then. Loved the man since The Wire. As for the Viking mythology, I read about it a little as a child, when I was looking at other religions and their myths. I don't remember it well, but I think that I took it as him being white when he should not by being always outside to do his work, and that his godhood was what was protecting him from the sun. No sunburn for a god was a necessary superpower to have in my mind back then. Funny how God of War had the Asguardian closer to their myths looks, but I prefer the Marvel one because the characters and their actors are more relatable or friendlier to me. Odin, Sif(loved the actress in Kyle XY!) Thor...
Curious about the people that even now are unhappy with Elba as Heimdall, as he is dead in the MCU and should not get back in the future unless there is a reboot.

It stuck me odd that Asgard, an ALIEN group that apparently only chatted up Scandinavian humans, would display more ethnic diversity than Wakanda, which is actually ON EARTH.

And as the MCU pushed out into other religions with Love and Thunder, seems like only the Norse have ethnic diversity while all the other deities portrayed had actors from that ethnic origin group (well, maybe Russel Crowe isn't greek but that aside...). Anyway, it's a quibble now given how the Thor storyline has nosedived into the dirt, but it did strike me as odd. But we've discussed this before, no need to hash it out again. The MCU seems ready for a revamp anyway, not sure we will see anything following up on the promise of Hercules.
