I would have bit at $9.99 as well but shipping to Canada makes it more expensive than just buying it normally, heh. Not by much though :p

I'm not really that into fighters.

Hrm, tried to make my purchase on Gamestop's site but kept getting billing info incorrect message. Maybe they know I might not love the game.....
Weird though because I used the same exact card a few weeks ago. Just a debit card, shouldn't have any problems, unless my pain meds having me seeing incorrect numbers. Who knows. Says I can't try again for 24 hours so I'm probably out of luck.

So anyone have any idea how i can get Near working? I tried on my Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi from starbucks a few miles away and even went by my sisters to try it and it just continues to say that it can't locate or obtain location or some shit.

Do i have to do a factory reset? if so how do i backup everything because i don't want to lose anything.

Wi-Fi Vita uses Skyhook to determine your location. Enter your info here so they can try to add your location. I did it prior to me getting a Vita and never had any problems with Near, or Google Maps. That said, I live in a biggest city in Canada, lol. I believe people who had problems and signed up said Skyhook got it working within about 2 weeks IIRC.

Yeah when i was using my google-fu yesterday a couple of people suggested it and i did do it, just trying to see if anything else works.

Granted i do live in the middle of fucking no where in my city.

EDIT-

Just realized when i checked the Near's friends activities it's completely blank and realized i don't know anyone with a vita.. Depressing :(

OK so we are now more than 1 month after E3 and we have a pretty good visibility on the end year lineup. Let's suppose that we are in september and Sony already sold 4 Million Vita (not even close in reality).
How Sony is planning to sell 8 Million Vita in 6 month? Even 1 million by month seems far stretched. Even with price drop it will be hard...
Maybe they are planning to give it with every PS3 sold?

Just give away a vita with every PS3 sold. Not sure if joking...

Hey folks! I'm home :D Had a good week on holiday. My Vita was perfect company at night, playing some Pure Chess with Hidden Away, and Zoibie. Thanks for that, guys :).

People worry faaaar too much about sales and stuff.

Just play and enjoy the games that come out and have a good time. Worrying about how to sell 8 million Vitas is Sony's job.

They haven't ported the Telltale Tool (the engine they use for all their games, hence why this is available on PC, Mac, PS3 and 360 nigh-simultaneously) to the Vita yet.

They need to. Haven't bought TWD, but would probably buy on Vita (if i had money >.<)

Is Ragnarok Odyssey coming to EU? I thought it wasn't announced yet but a big local gamestore has put it up for pre-order. Maybe it's a mistake but I hope not...

how does gamestop.com's shipping work? at ebgames.ca, orders $19+ are shipped free, I think. you guys could just order two and then return one in-store, right?

it seems hit or miss. I called my store and they checked and it was 19.99.

Just bought it in store for 9.99. If you call and someone tells you its 19.99 they are probably not scanning it and just looking at either the sticker on the display box or going by the current sale on it. The guy that rung me up didn't believe me it was 9.99 and just kept saying it was 19.99 till he scanned it. Then he said "oh shit, thats crazy"

Yeah, it's like they're experimenting with a Steam-sale price on a fairly recent retail game. That said, I'm not interested in MK :(

My thoughts. The Vita has enough on it to keep me satisfied for now, and has enough announced to make me think that there is enough coming to keep me interested.

I'll worry about finding the time to play all the things on it that I already have, and let Sony worry about selling it to other people.

Argh, I have to keep my online order because I won't have the chance to go out today. =(

That's cool, gives me time to practice. Who am I kidding, I suck at fighting games. I really just get them for the animation and quick bursts of fun. That's why $10 was a perfect price for me with MK.

Okay, I rebought Wipeout on DD since I lost the cart, seems to preserve the game save even after I upgraded to the latest version of Wipeout, plus add-on.

I have been playing VC2, completing every sidequest as I go. The gameplay is indeed almost like VC, with minor tweaks. The only problem is the side-stories that go on-and-on-and-on. The good thing is you can skip them by pressing <START>. Never thought the <START> button will get so much use.

If you're in "no man's land", then you probably need to submit your location to SkyHook using this link: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php

In the earlier days, Vita locked up about once or twice per week for me. A few people had corrupted Near files. I remember formatting the memcard fixed their issue. I don't think hard reset works, but you can try. These days, my Vita is rock solid, hasn't froze once yet.

I tried Near for, like, 30 minutes. It seemed promising at first, but then quickly fell flat for me. :(

I think in its current state it's just too obtuse, kind of stupid, and I'm never entirely sure if it's doing what it's supposed to. It feels to me like Sony was trying to one-up Nintendo by saying, "oh, we've got a GPS, so you can connect with people in a several mile radius!" without really thinking about the implementation.

Ultimately, it's just a chore to use, in my opinion. :/

StreetPass is clever. It encourages you to take your 3DS around with you, and thanks to that I hardly ever leave home without it. Near is... I barely even know what it is.

My Vita remains firmly docked on my coffee table at all times, and I'm totally okay with that. But I wonder if Sony is?

Yeah, Sony engineers and product managers messed up Near. The whole thing seems to be hacked together by one engineer and then he left the company or something. 8^P
The fields are not well explained except for the high level description in the online manual. The UI, while interesting, is pretty convoluted.

But one thing is clear. Near overlaps with StreetPass but its purpose is not to encourage you to take Vita out. It is to enable Vita users to discover games and their neighborhood.

Because it is based on GPS + SkyHook, you do NOT need to take Vita outside to enjoy its benefits. Once in a while, I would fire up Near to see what games and apps are popular in my area (and other areas I visited). It is a discovery and trading tool, but the trading part also needs some clean up because different games have different ways to do it.

Is there a kind and wealthy american who could send me a copy of Mortal Kombat to Sweden?
How much would it cost with shipping?
Just asking...

Has anyone addressed this?

http://andriasang.com/con1uf/fate_vita_announced/

The PlayStation Vita version of Fate/stay night [Realta Nua] that leaked out of New Type earlier in the week has been officially announced at today's Type Moon Fes event.

According to a Type Moon fan in attendance at the event, the PS Vita Fate/stay night game is indeed a port of the like-named PlayStation 2 title. It features an opening animation from Ufotable, and as a bonus item will include a product code for a game called "Tobidase! Trouble Hanafuda Douchuuki EX2."

As we reported earlier, Fate/stay night [Realta Nua] will see Vita release on November 29, priced ¥6,300.

EDIT: I guess it has. Disregard!

I think you still have to properly synch your trophies for them to actually appear in your profile. But it's true that they somehow synch in the background and trophy tracking sites can already grab them from your account, even when you have not manually synched them.
I dont think that this is necessary actually. When i checked my local trophies, i saw that the circle next to the WiFi spot was spining, so there were som WiFi traffic going on. And if i clicked on the Playstation Network tab, i didnt get any "syncing trophies" message.

You mean as you play games or other media, PS3 will sync like background downloading ?
I think you still need to click on the Tropihes icon, so i dont think it is background syncing 100% like that. But the "syncing trophies" message doesnt appear now.

I think it is a kind of neat-sounding idea on paper, but I just don't know about the long-term appeal. Perhaps if you keep tabs on it frequently then it might be an interesting way to find new people in your neigbourhood who have started using a Vita recently.

Apart from that, I don't know, it's kind of silly. If the point is to just sit at home (especially because you need Internet access to use it... another drawback) then why even bother with the "local" thing?

Near reminds me of Home in a lot of ways. When they first announced it, it seemed like a cool idea. Then it turned out to be a sluggish mess that was, once again, too obtuse. Nowadays, Home isn't even that bad, but it's too-little-too-late, as no one can be bothered anymore. I hope Sony can evolve Near into something more interesting, but they need to do it sooner than later.
