Eurogamer: Lego City could blow the franchise wide open/save the WiiU [Dont port beg]

Don't worry, it'll come to X360 and PS3 next year. Lol at "saving" the Wii U.

But that is what is so great about WiiU threads - we all get to see what we want to see!

As for Lego City, I'll definitely rent it for the PS4.

How much does this game utilise the Gamepad, if this gets ported to PS3 at a later stage I may pick it up for my nephew.

Port begging is bannable as far as I know, but this seems to be stealth-port begging - how is this handled?

Why are people worried about this game coming out alongside Monster Hunter? I'd say there are more children interested in a Lego game than there are gamers interested in MH, in the west anyway.
Because, believe it or not, real gamers that are adults are also looking forward to a LEGO game. I know, right?! It looks so kiddie! There must be something wrong with them...

Hope there's a demo for Lego City, i'm kinda interested but would need to try it first.

I had no previous experience with the Monster Hunter series, so the kids and I tried the demo a few days ago and all agreed it wasn't a game for us. However, Lego City immediately drew their attention and we are all very excited for the release next month.

All that to say, I think demos are a bit of a double-edged sword.

save the wiiU?

not going to happen. nobody is going to spend hundreds of bucks to get a console for this game

The article's plainly talking about the quality of the title, rather than sales potential.

Obvious click-bait, sure, but the point's sound enough; there's been a dearth of quality content since launch, and a quality-seeming exclusive helps with that.

Port begging is bannable as far as I know, but this seems to be stealth-port begging - how is this handled?

I'd say the innocent assumption that the game is coming to other consoles shouldn't be punished, but the flagrant trolling should be. If you think some of those quotes are stealth, I'm betting you're not very good at Splinter Cell.

Trying hard not to get this day 1 because it's so close with MH, but these previews are making it hard!

This is what Nintendo needs to do with their next console: Play two games at once, one on the TV the other on the Gamepad.

the publisher probably thought it was a good idea at the time to make this exclusive. I doubt it will stay there - especially when they look at months of sales data and realise they won't even sell a million - the install base just isn't there.

Oh please, of course not. It is how ever going to push people, who were on the edge, to buy the console finally. Don't think we'll see a huge difference in numbers when this releases, but if we do it won't be just because of this game. This and Most Wanted are my March games for sure.

That publisher would be called Nintendo. I'm not too sure but I don't think they put games out on other platforms.

Of course, because Nintendo ist the publisher.

Man, Nintendo is probably kicking themselves for publishing a game on the Wii U. Don't they read NeoGAF?

Headlines have to be so dramatic and hyperbolic, don't they?

On topic I actually think the game looks pretty nice and I might even pick it up.

Stealth "Nintendo to go third-party" post? :)

Lego games have always been slow burners, selling throughout the life of the console.

And considering that the publisher's Nintendo, I doubt they're going to make it multiplat.

My money that would of went to Rayman is now buying this game

March is a going to hurt my wallet

Lego
NFS most Wanted
Monster hunter 3

Damn

I'm really trying hard to avoid this crap, but you make it oh so difficult.

"Guess all Vita 3rd party games will jump ship soon because the installbase just isn' there. Its less than Wii U btw..." - i can also do stupid posts!

Seriously in EVERY Wii U exclusives thread we get "LOL will come to PS3/360, will buy then!" Its ANNOYING and always derails threads.

As far as Lego City goes, if Nintendo fully funded the project its not going anywhere. And Nintendos the publisher world wide so... just sayin....

They should offer a Lego based bundle ASAP. That would even further the bump in units. I dont think this will save them but its going to add to the arsenal and do really well in conjunction with other titles and efforts come holiday 2013.

Whaaat? I didn't mean any disrespect if your an adult and want to play it, i'm just guessing the demographic for this game is younger than that of monster hunter and possibly even a larger market. So I don't see why people are worried about MH getting in the way of it's success.

I was previously debating whether or not this game would be worth the $60. I guess I'll wait for reviews/GAF opinions before I pounce, but 40-50 hours of gameplay would definitely help in convincing me to get it. The last trailer is what really got me interested in the game, it looks fantastic.

Tough competition in March for my money, with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon both out next month.

I'm pretty sure this retails for $49.99, but yeah, right now I'm looking at all three of those games for March. Crazy.

I just checked Best Buy Canada, it is $49.99. Okay, there's no reason for me to not pick this up next month! I'm on board.

Edit: $10 credit? That's awesome. I'll look into that! Thanks.

You've really gotta start thinking through your arguments man.

Basically this.

As someone over 30, I think this actually has way more appeal to my demographic then something like GTA. Younger folks and older folks are good fit. The GTA crowd are mostly teens and kids in their 20's.

Another game I would LOVE to see on the wiiU that stirs my emotions like this one is "Toy Commander" from the dreamcast. Man I loved that game. :)

no where did I mention it will come to PS3/360. if you read the metroid OM thread, even Nintendo was surprised that the game didn't sell, so sales are a concern for them. Be interesting to see how it goes but save the wiiU? That's more to do with Euroamer writing it up as bait click as someone else has posted.

In this climate of studios closing shop because of games bombing, I'm not saving anything that is too polarising. There are precedents where nintendo's co-publishes/publishes games that they didn't make. go look it up.

How'd you get the $10 credit? I don't see it (on Best Buy US)

But why would Nintendo think it'd be a good idea to not make it exclusive?

Does the pre-order work for in-store as well or is it online only?

It should be both, but sometimes there's a delay before they start accepting them in-store. They'd have the little cardboard cards hanging on the racks to pre-order the game.

Canada, that is. :)

(I know Haziq's Canadian so didn't bother to clarify :p)

It's actually $50! (and at Best Buy it qualifies for their $10 credit in points thing, so kind of like $40!)

Thanks! I'll check over the weekend.

You heavily hinted at it coming to another platform...

You DO know the publisher is Nintendo... Worldwide...

If you're upset that this thread isn't a WiiU circle-jerk, you should probably be upset at the OP and the thread title, because arguing how Lego City Undercover isn't going to save the WiiU seems to be fair game and on-topic.

Dude...really? Say we all lived in your world. Where else would the game go? I believe you're trying way too hard man...
