I am still in shock at how big of a clusterfuck this is.

● The worst most, mis-communicated reveal in game industry history other than maybe Saturn.
● Once every 24 hour internet check just to be able to continue to play your games
● A horrendous proprietary used game system that gives pubs and Microsoft a 10% of the profits, thus ensuring the deals one can get on Used games are reduced and having less options for every gamer
● Complete inability to rent, lend or borrow games without paying a "fee", since every game must be installed. And the fee is the price of a brand new game, which Phil Harrison tells us to "think of it like a new game", because he is an abominable retard.
● Complete fucking tall tales and fabrications regarding the "Infinite Power of Cloud" which they did because...
● ...their system is a woefully underpowered trojan horse arbitrarily increased in price because of...
● ...a piece of shit dead-end gaming technology called "Kinect 2.0" which on top of being complete garbage for most genres, also is packed in with every system and...
● ...is also a horrendous invasion of privacy since it cannot be shut off without unplugging the system.
● A console which is also, after all this time, having massive eSRAM yield issues because Microsoft is caught rushing the One to the market.
● And they wasted their reveal talking about TV, TV, TV, TV, TV to do a function that nobody in their right mind would do if they had a DVR, to talk about sports and Kinect and have only two real games at their reveal.
● And is now liberally peppering all their attacks with a unhealthy dose of aggressive arrogance.

DID I MISS ANYTHING GUYZ? Because holy goddamn shit at this point. This has been without exception the most biblical epic failure of console reveals, even topping the PS3's $599.99 just for its sheer confounding, aimless nonsense since the beginning of 2013. Not a single day has passed by without some relentless bit of tortuously negative Xbox One news.

The kicker? This is ALL Microsoft's fault and they should have seen the reaction coming a mile away since the problems they introduced of their own free will has been eviscerated among gamers and the press for years now, to say nothing of things like the Sim City or Diablo III debacle.

The proof is in the pudding. Holy goddamn fuck

The truth hurts so bad...

Dont forget Spore. You are correct in pointing out that MS has built a software DRM and delivery system around something that has been loudly rejected at every attempt. There has not been a single game that has launched with these types of checks and mandatory always online requirements that has not been absolutely hated to death by gamers.

Go on, I'll tell you when to stop.

how do you know they promised? maybe they warned microsoft, and microsoft ignored the warnings.
if the yields are still really bad they will effectively have done so even if they don't delay.
Because AMD designed the chip? And has a history of these issues unfortunately.

It's amazing people still think the PS3 reveal was worse. They have to be on par if anything.
They've both had a similar trajectory of bad news and sketchy reveals but I don't think XBO has really had the $599 moment yet which really tipped the PS3 launch over the edge into disaster. Somehow, I don't think MS is going to price the XBO at $599, so they may still be able to bleed off some of the tension over the next few months. 'Course, they'll still have to move heaven and earth to do at this point.

Gotta hand it to Amir0x, the master of summary in recent threads.

Looking at that list, I can't believe just how ill-prepared MS has been with the Xbox One. Surely they have had meetings where a voice of reason has spoken up and said, "Uh, guys, if we don't solve for some of these issues before E3, we are going to be fucked.

*thumbs up*

Even after listing all of that... even after just stopping to take it all in... I still honestly can't believe all of this is happening. It absolutely blows my mind. There are PR nightmares and then there's whatever the hell this is.

Now they are cancelling pre and post E3 conference media pressers (going instead to more controlled 'one-on-one' Q&A sessions).
Yeah. Just think about that, combined with Amir0x's various examples above. People that said "where there's smoke, there's fire" weeks ago were on the money. Now the fire is threatening to turn into an out-of-control wildfire.
It's absolutely fascinating to watch unfold.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
So it's basically impossible the XBone isn't getting a decent fill rate hit with the down clock.

Also the rumor that the XBone is using more RAM for the OS and stuff might not be an issue anymore seeing as the rest of the gaming side of the system might not need over 6 gigs of RAM anyways if it can't keep up with things.

It's not that it was a failure, but it had very poor performance compared to the ps2. Plus it was a pretty big mess in terms of games and features at the start of the gen.

it really didn't. about 50 million of the ps2s sales we're after the launch of the ps3, and at a waay lower price point. The ps3 hasn't yet hit the end of it's lifespan, or even hit $250!

Given that the ps4 has no BC and psn is a mature distribution channel with a metric ton of cheap or free games, id expect the ps3 to end up somewhere between the ps1 and ps2 before Sony EOLs it.

so lower? sure. but "very poor" in comparison? nah.

Oh, and MS also removed their E3 Q & A panel so press seemingly can't ask questions or bring awareness to any of the above issues.

Lets be fair. Their only questions they need to bring awareness to are "where is the free food?" and "when do we get our free game?" They were never going there to serve their readers

You missed the fact that the TV functions, the bedrock that this console was announced on, were faked and are severely unfinished.

Because AMD designed the chip? And has a history of these issues unfortunately.

Did they? Yes, the original base Jaguar APU, but the ESRAM addition is a fairly signficant addition to the APU. AMD is also out of the fabrication business, are these being built by TSMC?

No price drop like what Sony did with the ps3 is going to help XBONE.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
You can pepper Amirox's summary with other stuff even further still depending on how much you want to twist the knife. CG demo's rivalling the lie-factor 9 of Killzone and Motorstorm courtesy of EA SPORTS at the unveil, rumours of them being 6 months behind with software and thus desperately breaking out the cheque-book, all while the once jewel in the crown of Xbox, Bungie, were front and centre for the PS4 unveil as their Halo successor is not just multi-platform, but coming with exclusive bits to Sony as the Halo property itself has finally started to slide towards having less of an impact.

The level to which Microsoft chokes all talent out of itself is painfully clear to see post Windows 8 and now with the unending disaster that is Xbone. Ballmer has made the place a fucking toxic wasteland.

True, but that still says oodles about what the fuck is going on at MS right now. So fucking shady to do that after telling everyone to wait for answers. The only legitimate (and obvious) reason for not hosting one is that they don't want the more casual user base watching E3 to catch on to the used game/drm/tech meltdowns going on among the "core" gamers. That or no one has any answers because they haven't set anything in stone, which still is fucked up since it's probably 4-6 months until console launch.

Despite all this I still see the One selling gangbusters. Just look at the recent "Xbox One is highest pre-ordered console" threads that have popped up. The 360 built such a strong following that the general population is likely to stick with Xbox. Also none of this stops the One from actually playing games right? I mean the DRM, the policies, all of that is part of the mix but at the end of the day the people that jump on and play CoD are going to be able to do so for the most part.

That list is probably going to get quite a bit longer.

Not even on par, Sony was able to turn the ps3 around with price drops, I don't see MS being able to resolve this unless they launch a new console in 3 years or they delay into late 2014.

If MS charges more that $200 for the One and if they charge more than $0 for Live, then this console is proper fucked.
No price drop like what Sony did with the ps3 is going to help XBONE.

This post is hilarious.

As is this one.

Eh, 360 supposedly had 720p minimum but had tons of sub-hd games. Largely meaningless.

To some part yes. But without any kind of restriction in place games could go even below SD. 720p restriction was part of Xbox certification process for a long time and set standard in which MS wanted to have games created for their console. Later ban was released same with need of AA.

Large games like Halo didn't have that problem but most of small devs weren't playing same game with MS as Halo devs.

Not even 1600x900 restriction tell us a lot.

I'm looking forward to everyone eating crow when Microsoft actually puts out a good system.

I used to love coming to neogaf but now it's constant negativity with everyone jumping aboard rumors and getting a kick out of acting that they are 100% true and that everything sucks.

You're all overreacting

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.

Such stories are incredibly unreliable to put any stock into whatsoever, especially with trash-rags like MCV being responsible for one. The person that pre-orders a console with no price, no release date, and not even a rudimentary game list is not the kind of group you can derive any trending data from other than a big ol' Tina Fey level roll of the eyes.

The fact that he even mentions that some Xbox games were sub-HD to support this non-restriction should tell people alot about why they're doing this. He also goes on to discredit pixels meaning anyting

Even so, I still don't see the One flopping like the Wii U has. PS4 may eclipse it this time, but the Xbox is going to sell.

It's amazing people still think the PS3 reveal was worse. They have to be on par if anything.

Sony, at the very least, attempted to justify the price and sat down at a presser to explain the PS3 delay.

I don't think it can be overestimated; MS management is utterly shambolic.

Seeing Amri0x's recovery from his famous Sony is dead post is pretty amazing

Delivers with what though? Among the big 3, they have always been the ones with the least exclusives. And can't imagine multiplats not looking better on PS4.
