So getting a Macbook Air soon and want to boot camp for a few games that aren#'t mac compatible (not many because I'll be at uni!).

Thing is its 128gb ssd because the 256 is bit too much really (already over budget).

So wondering instead of bootcamping Windows 8 and wasting about 20-30gb, does Windows XP still generally work ok with Steam?

For the most part. You might find the odd game or two that doesn't play nice with XP.

Works, but modern games are supporting xp less and less.

Storing games on a external hd would be a good idea instead.

Does booting of the external drive generally work with steam games. never done it before. Guess it would be great considering the Air has USB 3 and Thunderbolt.

Don't really need modern games, got a backlog of a ton of games that are older. And the Air won't really run modern games that great. With older games its perfect though.

Just install Steam on the external hard drive and your good to go, I think I encountered one minor hiccup with the letter drive changing but that can be easily fixed in less than minute.

PS: Thunderbolt/Displayport or whatever it's called now can allow you hack a GFX card onto your MBA to play games.

Cool will look into , thanks!

that setup for he graphics card mod is a bit unwieldy lol. It's pretty cool that it can be done though.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I love the total lack of effort they put into releasing the Wizardry games on Steam.

For example, most of the screenshots for Wizardry 7 include the GOGCOM character used by the GOG team when testing their Wizardry conversions.

Holy Fucking Crap! Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000 is scary as hell! *wibble*

I just fired it up and was freaked out just from the beeping motion detector, strobing lights and 'Alien' atmosphere before I even encountered my first Alien :/.

I'm not sure I'm up to this!

The actor who plays the marine on the monitor is hilariously bad though. Much as I dislike story oriented games at least the acting is usually pretty competent nowadays.

Fortunately I died pretty quickly so will forego any more play tonight as it's almost bedtime here and I would rather do without any Alien nightmares tonight thank you very much.

I sure do love badges on steam. Love getting them for the games I like. Lets me show off the games I enjoy while not having to spend all times of crazy time going for all achievements or something. Plus it gives me a little something more than just recommending them.

It's a much better Alien game than A:CM, and a hell of a lot scarier.

Any games that can be played on a laptop without having to rely heavily on the mouse (aka trackpad)? Binding of Isaac, off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are others.

Free for all.

Slightly off-topic (but also slightly on-topic) but I don't really know any good place to ask.

Anyway I have very old router in my house. It works fine but my family is complaining that they want wireless (for their smartphones). I have a very high speed connection:

It should peak at 150mb download and 15 upload I think. But I guess my router is stopping it from getting there. So anyway I wanna get a new one but I remember having a LOT of trouble getting Steam/Games to work on both mine and my sisters computer. If she would play left 4 dead she would always get disconnected and could never play. It took me a week to fix or something so ever since I've been kinda iffy about that stuff but I really need a new one for wireless and getting the max out of the wired connection.

I was looking at this one: http://www.icidu.com/en/networking/wireless/wireless-gigabit-router-300n.html

So I was wondering if it's any good for me, and will be easy to configure for stuff like the Steam thing. Any advice?

While I personally can't help I just want to say how jealous I am.
Seriously i'm happy when I get to an area with 3MBs. Which I could experience internet at that speed.

Dungeons of Dredmor and Sword of the Stars: The Pit are great with the mouse limited to inventory management. DoomRL's a good choice too :) I think I played Nimbus and VVVVVV' with the keyboard exclusively as well. Maybe rhythm games like Sequence and Retro/Grade, too?

I don't know how you people manage to play horror games in the dark with your headphones on

I'd get a fucking heart attack

You can turn off the fog in the save files.

That's supposed to be fog? Weird, the first time I played it wasn't there and from then on the chat windows and steam overlay were off-colored so I figured it was a glitch.

Hopefully the game gets similar dlc to Justine which was great, although Chinese Room seem to have a lot on their plate. They talked about an editor at all?
