You know, maybe the Xbox launch lineup is better for their tastes.
When did this stuff become some kind of objective truth? Metascores and marketing logic be damned - people are going to buy what interests them. Maybe that's a title like Resogun or a Ryse or a Forza or a DriveClub.

In my opinion the X1 line up is pretty damn good...
PS4 has some pretty good games as well, just no where near as many.

At launch. I don't need a huge list of exclusives to buy at launch when I know that there are many exclusives from my favorite studios still in development and when I can get the graphically superior versions of multiplatform games while paying 100€ less. I will buy about 5 games on launch day - not counting PSN/Indie games. There is only so much time I can spent on gaming, why should we ignore those multiplatform titles? Especially when there are probably not insignificant graphical differences between both platforms?
The people trying to sugarcoat this are cute. Yeah nobody was buying a PS4 FOR Driveclub, but the fact that a smaller form of it was free for PS+ was a HUGE deal. You were basically getting part of an exclusive large studio launch game for free. It is damaging to have this moved for PS+ members who were buying a PS4 no matter how you slice it.
It was a nice boon to my $400 purchase to get a decent chunk of a Sony Studios launch game.

Why can't people just say that people are buying the PS4 because it's a bad ass gaming machine for $400. And that playstation is a popular brand world side and Sony has taken the ps3 and fixed everything that was wrong with it. I personally could care less about launch titles. You buy a console for the 6-7 year generation that comes with it. You don't buy it to play 2 games at launch.

I've seen quite a few launches and I always expect delays - lots of them delayed by weeks or months. I just assumed they would announce things a little sooner.

It's funny, during all the list wars it was passed off as some 2nd/3rd rate driving game.
Because yourself and many other people coming up with reasons to shrink the PS4 games list are all going to be touting Titanfall as an xbox one exclusive, hell microsoft are even doing it.

As always, negative news receives extreme negative backlash, and GAF reacts appropriately. Makes me so damned proud to be a member.
I would argue their slip ups occurred when they made decisions a year ago that put them in the position they're in now, with a weak lineup of exclusives in the first 9 months for the PS4.
After Infamous early next year, and now Driveclub, I think there is gonna be a big exclusives drought until The Order shows up in the Sep/Oct window.

They will both be. The PC version of Contrast will also include the awesome soundtrack if you pre-order through their site I think. I wish they had offered that for PS4 users as well like Rain and TLoU.
Still, for those of us without a PC-- or at least one spec'd for gaming-- the indies coming to PS4 will be a godsend and easily keep people engaged and entertained while PS+ continues to crank out freebies, stretching things out until titles like Second Son come out.
Just from a PR perspective I wish this issue with WD and DC wasn't the case, and obviously I have friends that really wanted both those games that might just hold off buying a PS4 at launch now which is obviously what Sony would like to avoid, but I personally am not stressed. I also have a PS3 with a ridiculous amount of games I've yet to play through (mostly from PS+) and I'll have no problem passing the time with currently slated PS4 offerings + my PS3 until next Spring.

Their 2014 is going to be so sick. Remember, 20 first party games from Sony WWS within the first year of launch... and we know, what? 10? 12? I lost count. But they have a LOT left to unveil.
It would get the many, many impatient gamers around the internet who keep pretending like Sony doesn't have a deluge of games left to announce from their first party studios to say "alright, the future does look bright. A delay is a delay, a bad game is bad forever... but yeah, I have confidence in what the future has to offer."
I personally don't require it - I know why I'm getting a PS4, and none of them began and ended with DriveClub, though I was going to get it - but I definitely think strategically, with so many games left to announce, if DC wasn't going to make 2013, they could have given people a slightly larger glimpse of their future lineup then.
If we get another free game out of it instead as a substitute, I'd be pretty happy. Wasn't excited about DC, but if they replaced it with the KZ SP campaign or almost anything else, I personally would come out better in this deal.
If this was a new Motorstorm though, I would feel a lot different.

I didn't know Drive Club was so vital to the launch of the PS4. For racing fans it's gotta suck, but I think the impact is way overblown here on GAF, as usual. Great news for Forza; no competition at launch will help a ton.
Come on, seriously. Who here isn't mainly buying a launch PS4 mainly for the new hardware and the promise of more exclusives like Uncharted, TLoU, inFamous, and God of War? Can't be just me. Sure I could put off a purchase until one of those games come out, but I need to fondle that controller. If I get bored, I'll just fire up DCUO and grief the hero teams.

It's not been made official and neither has the length of delay, could be delayed until January and people are on here talking about 6 months of nothing after launch ...... even though Infamous and Destiny are out in the first quarter or thereabouts.

I hope this isn't true as Driveclub looks pretty interesting and I have enjoyed the company's previous racing games. Fortunately, there are still a number of other games coming out to keep me occupied and I guess now I will just pay a bit more attention to Need for Speed.
