I mean it came out for Wii/PS2/PSP. And "the best ever" is someone's opinion, which holds more merit than the original person he is quoting has in his claim.
Wii was the lead SKU and its from the same gen as PS3.

And it was ported to the PS2 afterwards, not the PS3. This is a thread about winning GOTY awards in 2013, why is it sad that a game released in 2009 isn't getting these awards now?
After the way they handled that guy, I thought they'd start on her with a kneecap shot and basically demand she tell them where they are or move to the other knee.
That's essentially what they just threatened to do to the guy to get him to talk just minutes earlier. That's why it just seemed strange they'd go along with it.
Like I said, oh well. It worked for you guys, didn't click with me.
Shattered Memories brought more to the table regarding narrative in video games than 3 Last of Us's combined.
And it came out in the same generation. So sad.
Shattered Memories does some cool stuff with its story but there's too much garbage weighing the game down.
200 too many.
Although I didn't like it, I still can acknowledge that I am in the minority. Amazing Ending Scene.
...my post was directed to comments about good narrative in gaming and how TLOU trumps everything that came before, apparently.
Its also a nice contrast to how little attention SM's story got in 2009, cuz I'm sure even thesis are being made around the more inferior (but still good) attempt by ND.
Like what? None of its faults weigh down the ideas and execution of where they went narrative-wise.
Also, I don't get that pic.

It is usually understood that when you say something is "the best ever", you have at least experienced (or at least know enough about) much of what was previously the cream of the crop.
Otherwise that claim holds no merit.
Can anyone explain to me why would anyone call TLoU a dude bro action game?

Ignorance.
I wasn't shitting on the game, though. I wouldn't have said "Good for ND" if I didn't respect the work they put into it. In fact, I'll even go a bit further and say that any developer that is trying to create a game with an engaging narrative should take note of how Naughty Dog handled TLoU's world-building, characterization, and writing.I get the fact the other people "love" other ideas in what their favorite game entails and if this game does not match up to it, people try their hardest to shit on it by the fear of it, that every game company will copy it. There can be an awesome game in every genre type, perhaps the one you guys love will have it next year.
That would have already happend just look at Bioshock:I and GTA V. If a game doesnt get shit on within 6 months i doubt it will ever happen just look at Uncharted 2.
Eh, you should probably post them with reasons if you really want this to be a good post. Otherwise what is this post supposed to be?
I would hope the industry would be mature enough to see quality of content rather than blue printI wasn't shitting on the game, though. But at the same time, I can't help but be a little worried about the effect this record number of awards will have on the industry, purely from a gameplay perspective and how it compares with my personal preferences.
A short opinion that there were plenty of great games this year. I don't think the reward should have been this unanimous. I can mention Fire Emblem, Pokemon X, Gta, mario 3d land, etc... all the reasons they were great games.
Outside of visuals I'm not exactly sure where the last of us is excelling. Solid game certainly.
Can anyone explain to me why would anyone call TLoU a dude bro action game?
I am surprised by how many people link the Last of Us to Resident Evil 4, because the first thing I thought of after completing the game was, "Oh, if it weren't for it's glitchy-ness, it would have trumped Resident Evil 4 as the best game in the last 10 years."
I don't agree with Resident Evil doing stealth better, because I don't think there's much stealth in that game, but shooting enemies is fun and flawless. But where Resident Evil 4 falls short on,Last of Us does incredibly well... story. Either way, both games are great GREAT games.
I believe that Naughty Dog got the recipe right with the Last of Us, and that's why so many of us love the game. It didn't essentially progress game play, it perfected it within its own system (I'm specifically talking about the 3 Uncharted games). And it told a cohesive story that NEVER felt like a burden. Almost like Red Dead Redemption compared to RockStar games that came out prior to RDR.
edit: Plus the Multiplayer is a lot of fun, AND the boss fight in Winter is one of the best boss fights this generation. Simple, yet effective.
I'm surprised also. One is a game which has great gameplay coming to life through a stable framerate (Gamecube), the other is...a game world and a story with gameplay which you need to get done so yo can see the next cutscene. Says a lot about the industry these days that it got so many GOTYs.
Thinking about NDs J&D 60FPS goodness in the PS2 days makes me cry. We will NEVER see that again. I guess their next gen will just be locked at 20FPS FOR DEM GPRAHICS.
it's supposed to mean what's written. i don't like mario type games, where is just gameplay and it doesn't have a story or some kind of meaningful objective, i don't have time for this anymore.
therefore, i really like TLOU and similar games, because it's the opposite, i enjoy experiences that i can feel i took something out of it.
GOTY Edition on PS4 announced any second now.

Ok, game was really good and it totally deserves awards but nothing could make me like that guy, Joel. Irritating fella, quite depressing he is. Not the hero gaming world needs. Thank god ND is returning to adventures of Mr. Drake, the guy with a real sense of humor, even it's quite bad.
Like the terrible character designs and voice acting. There's more to a game's story than just its story.
Did it win GAF's GOTY?
He wasn't there to save the world, but to do what's best for him and his close ones.
You act like re4 doesnt have you play to reach cutscenes. Tlou doesnt even have that many and the few that are in the game are done really well, but that isn't where all the character development and fun happens.I'm surprised also. I'd say he failed then.Giving Ellie to the Fireflies and losing her would, for him, be the exact opposite of a "happily ever after" ending. I feel it would, in the long run, it would be infinitely better for the little family he had left. A cure at a personal cost would be beneficial for just about everyone he knows, Ellie aside. Out of the two potential endings, I don't think any of them would be "bucketfuls of smiles and happily ever afters".
Can anyone explain to me why would anyone call TLoU a dude bro action game?
That picture is actually a good argument for the narrative of Shattered Memories. The appearances of the characters changed based on your in-game actions and your interviews with the psychologist. The characters, the monsters, etc, were meant to be a reflection of your psyche. So yeah, if you're running around town looking at women's lingerie on the mannequins or pinup posters of bikini models, certain characters will look a bit "sleazier" than they would otherwise. And there's a point to all of this, a point that ties beautifully into the plot.

You're not supposed to like him. He's a selfish cunt who just happens to be the main character.
TLoU is definitely one of my favorite games this generation. But my overall GotG would probably go to Dark Souls.
