Media Create Sales: Week 34, 2014 (Aug 18 - Aug 24)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
What's with all this western shit in my Japanese charts?

Joking of course, but Diablo and Last of Us both in the top ten is surprising. Though those hardware sales are shocking. Hell of a drop for Wii U in particular :(

All time low for PS3 as well?

IIRC, it was around 1,000 units sold the week before PS3 Slim's release.

TLoU sold over 200k on the PS3, and the PS4 remaster opened at 30k. Based on this, it means that since GTAV sold almost 800k on the PS3, the PS4 remaster will open at 120k! Fuzzy math!

I wonder why they shipped so low for Bullet Girls. Surely they must've known there would've been a decent amount of transferable Senran Kagura fans on the console already.

The Last of Us Remastered did better than I expected.

Zelda Musou dropping sharply, but should clear at least about 140k.

Hardware wise... yikes. Wonder if PS4 will drop below 5k this year. WiiU back to reality - I'm actually a little surprised because I thought it had stablized above 10k.

Vita doing well though. Well "relatively" well. It's not cratering back to sub 10k like it did last year and SAO/Freedom Wars seem to be showing some legs between them. And we've got a speight of new releases next week.

so japan has to play western games because there is nothing else to play. Hyrule Warriors....ugh.

didn't expect UltraSF to actually sell a few.

How many weeks before PS4 cross the streams with Dreamcast?

An oversall drop was to be expected. Wii U has Bayonetta and Fatal Fram toward the end of next month, but it's probably going to hover around 10k until we start getting into to the end of year sales.

How are those two games typically received in Japan? I know FF has a cult following, but I didn't know if Bayonetta was much of a seller there, or at least if we expect it to be on Wii U.

(Dang, that HW drop.)

02./00. [PSV] Bullet Girls <ACT> (D3 Publisher) {2014.08.21} (¥6.799) - 31.487 / NEW <80-100%>

Now that's what I call a success. This will become a full-fledged franchise like Senran Kagura did.

Amazon reviews are sitting at about a 3 out of 5.

From what I've seen it beats Shinovi Versus in terms of fanservice but unlike Shinovi Versus it fails in terms of gameplay, in this case emulating a third person shooter (it has sparse enemies and really bad AI).

Shinovi Versus , on top of the fanservice, is a fun musou game. Bullet Girls is not a fun Third Person Shooter.
Ah, damn. SV made me more open-minded when it comes to pant-ripping games, because it was a cracking little beat-em-up / brawler when all was said and done. I dig TPS so I thought I might find another hidden gem in BG. Doesn't sound like it though.

I thought you hated TLOU, or was that someone else with a Python tag
Might've been me, because I hated it the first time I played it. Quit after about six hours. Went back three months later, and now it's one of the best games I've ever played, if not the best. Weird.

I can see Shinovi Versus success because it's at least fun to play.

Bullet Girls is awful to play. It's a game that makes me want to play/do anything else because it'd be more entertaining and less frustrating.

expected drop, alwasy stay pretty much the same.
YW incredible, 3DS good in terms of competition but way weaker that itself last year, HW decent but not strong, MK still selling keeps the Wii U afloat around 9k, PS4 sees some releases but still struggles until somethin truly "Japanese" will come out, PSVita live its own dream (compared to itself 18 months ago)

Oh yeah when is that? Will be funny to see how many of those hardcore ADV fans will but it in the first week.

Next week.
Xbox One's launch is so uneventful that it'll be a Thursday, while every major hardware/software launch is on Saturday (even if Nintendo's starting releasing things like Bayonetta 2 and Fatal Frame on that day too, to be honest).

Dragon

Banned
GTAV
Call of Duty
Assassin's Creed
Destiny
FIFA 15

You know, stuff that's Japanese at its core.

GTAV, CoD's last iteration and FIFA 14 all sold over 100K in Japan. Sales are sales, whether they're western IP or not.

If Fatal Frame hits 100K it would be amazing: it's extremely niche.
Character action games are in the 200K-600K range, but the platform may ruin that.

Of course, but it was a joke about being not Japanese stuff :p

P.s. FIFA14 is at 100,000 only due to bundles and being at less than 2,000 Yen for Plus users, though.

Thanks Thammy! FWIW, I would be astonished to see either hit 100K on Japan given what we've seen with Wii U software sales.

Has Pokémon Link Battle already crossed the 200k mark? The original one sold around 300k, so these numbers are not that bad: an IP successfully transplanted on eShop.

For Bayonetta 2 to hit 200k, it'll need to have as strong a core gaming base as the PS3 does in Japan. Good luck with that.

100k? I would be happy with 50k. As for Bayonetta, by some miracle I hope it hits 200k.

I thknk that almost all the previous FF sold around 70k (average), but on PS2/Wii (way more popular than Wii U), so I am with you with that 50K happy feedback.
About Bayo2...200k is a MIRACLE, to me. I could change my avatar if that happens. I think that 100k is way more probable.

Given we're talking about a Platinum game on Wii U, 200K will probably be closer to its global sales than its Japanese sales.

Yup, exactly the same thing. Fucking hated it at first, went back later, absolutely loved it. They're the only two games that have ever done that to me, and I played 'em at around the same time. I think I might just've been temporarily burnt out on console gaming. Usually I know exactly how I feel about a game after an hour or so.

Still idly musing on the idea of picking up Bullet Girls.

There's a reason why I said miracle =p

I do however think the game will end up doing much better than 101 and reach 100k eventually.

Worldwide, 300k shipped seems like an achievable result.

I don't think there's any way for it to do worse than W101. But I do agree. The original Bayonetta did fairly low numbers for an action game, the sequel's going to do worse.
