More competition on ios? Since the rankings are relative to one another. More useful metrics would be total amount grossed and gross per install base.

The dedicated Japanese games industry has declined, but I don't think it's gotten to the point where 25 games consists of its entire output. ;-)

Obviously you can make a thread if you want to. I just don't think a sizzle reel of already known content is going to change anyone's opinion on the state of the JP development scene.

- Monster Hunter 4 final pre-orders were 1.117k. The last entry had stock supply problems. So if this entry has stock enough, it's possible to open with similar numbers.

Hardware is expected to reach 150k next week due to New 3DS release.

If it "only" does 150K then again, I'm kind of struggling to see how it ends up surpassing last Q4? The holiday weeks I can see being up, but they'd have to make up for continued shortfall in the preceding weeks?

Media Create says the 3DS has been down 50% all year and, considering that and the New 3DS launch, it should do at least 50% of what it did last year during the MH4 launch, which they put as 150k.

It's just their guess. *shrugs*

Hmm, I wonder how well Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will do in the long run.
There's no doubt it'll hold up much better compared to other Hunting game expansions, but is it possible that it'd end up with not that much of a decline?

Xbox One beat all expectations...

Smash Bros killed PhantomOfTheKnight and WinterDemons (and mine *sniff*) ranking by units, 32nd and 35th respectively, but they were still the best and third best predictor averaging all games. This must be the biggest difference between the two rankings so far (I don't keep track of that, just guessing). Maybe there's some calculation wrong. haha

There will be no info for MH4G or new 3DS because they release Saturday while the mid-week preview is only for Monday to Thursday sales. So, only irrelevant releases this week:

On the other hand, MH4G seems ready to set a very solid debut.

You should also look at how much Nintendo will be able to ship.

From the looks of things, the peak of Monster Hunter will remain MHP3. It doesn't looks likely that Capcom will ever get there again, much like how Resident Evil 2 remains the peak of RE in Japan.
