DBZ 3 as in super Boutedon 3? (dunno how to spell it)
If the previous one did 1 million, why did that one do so badly?

None of that is going to matter.

Musou-style games tend to sell better on Sony platforms, and this is not new. SW Chronicles has an history on 3DS, but I don't think it had much fanbase left on the platform. Also, PSV doesn't have much release in this period.

As for Derby Stallion and Aikatsu, those games will sell during the weekend and the holiday season.

29./14. [WIU] Taiko no Tatsujin: Tokumori! # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2014.11.20} (¥5.627) - 4.642 / 14.224 <0-20%> (-52%)

That's two weeks on the market and it still hasn't sold 20% of the initial shipment. I know Taiko games usually have strong legs, but these must be disappointing numbers for Namco.

I'm not sure it should be a surprise that a Musou game sells more on Vita. It has had pretty much every Musou released since it launched. The Vita version also has more content.

It remains to be seen whether the game will have the legs of the first two as well. If it sells worse than 2nd(an expansion) it was a somewhat pointless endeavour.

For SWC3, it should also be noted that Koei-Tecmo also announced Samurai Warriors 4-2 like two weeks ago. And that's coming out in Feb of next year.

So it's really like do you want a handheld musou game right now or wait a couple of months for the next one with a shiny new character and whatever else they added on it.

Unless you only own a 3DS I guess.

Unsurprising. Vita version almost always sells more when a game releases on both PSV & 3DS in Japan (cf. Conception 2, Exstetra).

Almost always? Time Travellers, Virtue's Last Reward, Little Battle eXperience W, One Piece: Unlimited Wars, Puyo Puyo Tetris, all sold more on 3DS wrt PSV.

Looks like the 3DS version of that Million Arthur game has been DLed 200k times already.

Let's see if it can do at least as well as that weird Initial D game.

The only game that was released at the same time in both platforms from your list that had a meaningful difference was Puyo Puyo Tetris.

If the previous one did 1 million, why did that one do so badly?

Those aren't its first week sales, Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden 3 was released on September 29, 1994. If 9 weeks after its launch the game was still selling around 15.000 units its LTD sales had to be high.

Why does this qualifier even exist in this argument, it's irrelevant.

If your sales numbers, that are estimates (trustworthy, but still estimates that lacks updated numbers) are showing something like:

A - 22,000
B- 21,000

Does it make it meaningful to use as an argument that A sells better than B?

Never understood were that coefficent came from.
The coefficent between January 1996 and October 1996 is easy to grasp how it was calculated but the other one is an enigma.

a. sales are anyway higher;
b. given first week sales, 3DS games showed greater legs; the gap might have likely widen so far.

a.) You can't say that because they are not absolute numbers.
b.) If you are talking about what happened in 2 years based on three weeks, you can't say anything about that because there are no stats of what happens to games with "small legs" through long periods.

When you are using incomplete numbers from those trackers (whose absolute numbers are still incomplete and we don't even have a statistical margin), you can't make assumptions based on borderline cases. I thought it was a given in sales threads, where people are more worried with verifiable facts than in regular threads.

When you say multiplatform games generally sell better on the Vita, it definitely does matter. in fact it's the most important factor as it's the difference between whether the statement is true or false. That's not to say Vita versions of games don't sell but that's entirely different to what the person said. The only way it wouldn't be as important would be if you collect the sales of all multiplatform games and in pure numbers one side was greater than the other despite having less multiplatform games selling better than their counterparts. But even then it wouldn't be irrelevant unless number of the games advantage was low.

Then I will wait for some test of statistical significance of the difference between 3DS and PSV sales of those games.
